"Yes, in the past, it was during the ti of the Demon Hunting Order, the Divine Birthday was the festival we looked forward to the most."
Lorenzo gazed out at the lights beyond the window, seemingly seeing the past in their glow.
"Back then, we weren’t demon hunters yet, and everyone was eager for the Divine Birthday. On the day itself, food was unlimited, there was every kind of delicacy... just like the Vikings’ Heroic Spirit Hall, where everyone ate and drank to their heart’s content, wishing it would never end."
Thinking of this, Lorenzo chuckled.
"After all, we were orphans who had never seen the world. When we were wandering before, we would fight from the street to the alley just for a bite to eat. We had never seen such a scene. There was even a child who knelt down crying, shouting that this place was Heaven."
"And then, it was about the ti after becoming demon hunters. The indulgence couldn’t satisfy us anymore, and so the Church gave us brief freedom. Although confined to Florence, on that day everyone could roam freely."
Lorenzo recalled those days.
"Those tis were truly happy. The drunks would storm into the bars, so would head straight for the balls, and others would buy a bouquet of flowers to find their beloved girl... but unfortunately, we were demon hunters, and in the end, it all ended without a trace."
As he spoke, his verbosity surfaced again.
"So, people are greedy creatures. The guy who could be satisfied with a chicken leg now wants more... and more."
"So which type of person were you back then? Where did you go on the Divine Birthday?" Selyu asked.
Lorenzo thought carefully, then beca animated, dispelling the sadness that had shadowed him.
"The casino!"
He rattled on excitedly.
"We were different from those fools. We ticulously planned our Divine Birthday itinerary a month in advance. We calculated Florence’s prices, and the amount the Evangelical Church gave us was far from enough!"
"A few of us went to the casino first. After all, that’s where the money cos quickly, and we were demon hunters, not afraid of getting into fights!"
The plot began to take a bizarre turn, and Selyu could only listen dumbfounded.
Perhaps because he was excited, Lorenzo took out the pack of cigarettes bought by the Red Falcon and lit one up, puffing away.
"011’s Authority is Shangdafeng. He was supposed to be in charge of gambling, but he said it relied on luck, and he cherished his luck too much, so it had to be . He used his Authority to cheat."
Who could have imagined that the Demon-Slaying Power would be used in such a damned place.
Selyu once thought Lorenzo’s experiences had driven him insane. But seeing him now, it seed he had been a thorough madman from the start, and what he went through rely exacerbated his condition.
"Unlike those high-rolling gamblers, we quit while we were ahead. But perhaps we earned too much and were noticed by the casino. Nevertheless, we were demon hunters, and we fought our way out of that casino, rushing to our next destination."
His eyes were filled with nostalgia.
"That was quite a sum. We road through the most bustling street in Florence, and before the mounted police could arrive, everyone jumped into the Tiber River and swam back ho."
"Those were truly wonderful tis..."
His words of excitent drifted into despair, his gaze distant.
It sounded like patients from the sa ward breaking out of a ntal hospital, embarking on an absurd adventure on the night of the Divine Birthday, filled with madness and nonsense. Yet this was what Lorenzo cherished as the most beautiful mory. But such things now only existed in reminiscence. The friends were gone, and even the ntal hospital had been ordered to reform.
Ti is like that, once past, it remains past and never returns.
But at least Lorenzo was still alive. One patient had escaped the ntal hospital; his illness had not improved and instead grew worse. He pretended to be normal and integrated into human society, but he was a restless lamb, always waiting for a chance for revenge.
His eyes were as hard as iron, and the Nail Sword in the box humd softly.
But suddenly soone gently embraced Lorenzo, extinguishing the anger that was about to ignite anew, and she said.
"As long as you’re alive, good things will happen. Although your definition of good may be strange, there will always be beautiful things. But if you die, there will be nothing left."
"...Happy Divine Birthday."
Selyu said.
"Happy Divine Birthday, Mr. Lorenzo Hols."
