Sitting in his room, Yang Ze was still thinking about how to make it work when he heard soone knocking on his door.
"Young hero, are you there?"
Listening to the familiar sound of Lin ilin, Yang Ze almost clapped his thighs in response. She ca at the perfect mont. Who would have thought that she would show up when he was thinking of ways to talk to her?
Without any hesitation, he jumped up, rushed to the door and opened it with a gentle smile on his face.
"Please, co in."
Inviting Lin ilin into his room, Yang Ze hurriedly took out the pot of tea before pouring two cups and sliding one towards Lin ilin as the two of them sat across each other on a wooden table.
"Thank you." Lin ilin rely thanked him before taking a sip while admiring the scenery before her.
Though the place they were in was just a trade zone, it was filled with life. Even from the third-storey building, they could see the bustling crowd beneath them.
The two of them just sat there in silence. While Lin ilin was admiring the view underneath, Yang Ze was nervously thinking about how to actually complete that damned task. He couldn’t just simply ask her to call him ’husband’, could he?
Not to ntion how weird it sounds, even if she was in disguise, there was no way she was ever going to call him that.
"It’s nice weather, isn’t it?" In the end, Yang Ze could only talk about the most common thing that he had heard people talk about... the weather.
"...." Lin ilin looked at the cloudy sky before casting a puzzled look at Yang Ze, wondering what he was talking about.
"This..." Yang Ze coughed in embarrassnt as he thought about what he should talk about when Lin ilin finally let out a heavy sigh.
"So, are we going to pretend it never happened?" Her words, which ca out of the blue, stunned Yang Ze, making him unable to react.
"What are you talking about?" The mont Yang Ze asked this question, the events after his fight with the Demonic beasts played out in his mind as the scene of Lin ilin feeding him flashed in his eyes.
"...." Lin ilin didn’t reply but just looked at Yang Ze with a sweet smile. She hesitated for a while before reaching out and taking off her veil.
"????" Yang Ze was taken aback by her sudden action, wondering what she was trying to do.
Beneath the veil was an exquisite face that seed to be crafted from jade. Ruby-like lips that would part occasionally, tempting whoever sees them, the perky nose and cheeks that felt like one could play with them forever.
Yang Ze was montarily stunned before coming back to his senses. Even though she looked exquisite, Yang Ze knew this wasn’t her true appearance.
He patiently waited for her to continue. But Lin ilin never responded. She rely looked at him with a gentle smile that constantly sent chills down Yang Ze’s spine.
In the end, he gritted his teeth before letting out a deep breath.
"I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable." Though Yang Ze said that, both of them knew it was a lie. He didn’t talk to her because he was flustered and didn’t know how she would react. Since he had already gotten benefits, it was better to keep his mouth shut.
"Don’t worry about that." Lin ilin finally answered with a smile.
"Young Hero has saved my life once, and it is natural for to save his life too."
Listening to her words, Yang Ze was complaining in his heart. Since it was natural for her to save his life, then why was there a need for his promise?
"So..." Supressing his inner dissatisfaction, Yang Ze finally asked what he had been dying to know.
"Can you tell what it was that you gave ?"
He didn’t explicitly say ’fed with your breasts’ or ntion the word ’milk’, but it still caused Lin ilin’s expression to flush, though her eyes were calm.
"Why does the young hero want to know?"
"Umm..." Yang Ze didn’t know how to answer that question. In his eyes, it was a miraculous dicine that could bring him back from the dead. Not to ntion the golden veins and the golden-coloured internal energy that he still had no idea about. If he could get it a few more tis... Yang Ze’s breathing hastened, but he still controlled his emotions.
"Because... I was curious?" Yang Ze spoke with so hesitation, but Lin ilin simply shook her head.
"Not good enough." Lin ilin simply shook her head with a soft smile while her eyes were stuck on Yang Ze’s face.
"Sigh..." In the end, Yagn Ze just let out a sigh. He knew that no matter what excuse he made or what lie he spun, it was never going to work. Lin ilin already knew the answer, but she still wanted to hear it from him. And till she got her answer, she wasn’t going to agree or leave,
"Because it is of extre help to ." This ti, Yang Ze’s answer was honest.
"Oh! You an like healing?" Lin ilin just made an exaggerated expression on her face as she asked with her eyes wide open. Though she, too, was interested in knowing the effects of the Nectar of Life. Even though she had the Nectar of Life, she never understood its usage or effects, other than that it was miraculous and couldn’t be used by herself.
"....." Yang Ze looked at her, wondering if she was purposefully doing it. But in the end, he still spoke honestly.
"You can say that, but it is more useful to than just healing."
Taking a deep breath, Yang Ze began to describe the changes in his body, from the veins turning gold to his internal energy turning gold.
And the more he spoke, the more Lin ilin’s expression changed from initial curiosity to confusion and finally seriousness.
By the ti Yang Ze finished speaking, she kept on tapping the table in front of her while gulping down the last drop of the tea.
"And this is why..." Yang Ze didn’t complete his sentence, but the aning behind his words was obvious. Although he didn’t know what changes would happen when all five of his veins had turned golden, as well as his internal energy, he was sure that it was a good thing.
Lin ilin’s ’Milk’ was sothing that could heal his injuries in an instant. Sothing like that would only have positive effects.
"So, you want to give it to you a few more tis?" Lin ilin rely raised her head with a smile as she looked at Yang Ze.
The mont Yang Ze t her gaze, he felt a chill down his spine, but he didn’t back up. He simply nodded in response.
"I see." Lin ilin humd in a soft tune before going silent. Neither answering nor asking anything else.
Sensing the awkwardness between the two of them, Yang Ze decided to change the subject. In the future, he would definitely find a way to get more ’milk’ from Lin ilin, but till then, he needed to be patient.
"So..." Clapping his hands, Yang Ze spoke in a cheerful tone. "What about those places that I ntioned?"
Lin ilin looked at him in confusion for a while before realisation hit her. Other than the precious Feathergrass, Yang Ze also asked her about a cliffside where the winds never stop blowing.
She didn’t know why he wanted to look for such a peculiar place, but she didn’t ask. Everyone has their own life and path to walk.
"Now that you ntion it," She paused for a mont before speaking further. "I do know of such a place. It’s just a few hundred miles away from here, I think."
Yang Ze’s breathing hastened as he kept on nodding in response. He had finally managed ton fulfill two of the three conditions required to evolve his spiritwing into the Zephyr Spiritwing.
Now he only needed to find three natural storms and make the spiritwing survive them. But where was he going to find natural storms? And most importantly, how was the little butterfly going to survive the storm by itself in its current conditions? It would be a miracle if it didn’t die with a gust of wind.
Thinking about it, Yang Ze felt his scalp tingling. Earlier, he was just focused on gathering the materials and fulfilling the conditions of the evolution that he had completely forgotten whether the little butterfly could even survive it or not.
"What happened?" Feeling the changes in his emotions, Lin ilin couldn’t help but ask, to which Yang Ze just shook his head in response.
He just sat there in silence, thinking about how to get out of it while at the sa ti looking at the item covered in fog in front of him that needed him to complete his task.
"Screw it... Now or never." In the end, he decided to put aside the matter of Spiritwing for now and focus on the thing he had managed to create using a pendant and a few healing herbs.
Taking a deep breath, Yang Ze finally decided to take a gamble.
"Say..." With a forced smile, he looked at Lin ilin before asking, "I never get to know more about you."
"Oh!?" Lin ilin rely raised an eyebrow before breaking out in a smile.
"Is the young hero genuinely interested, or is he asking because of the Nectar of Life?"
Yang Ze’s corner of lips twitched as he spoke with a forced smile. "Of course, because I want to know more about you."
"....." Lin ilin simply smiled, tilted her head and spoke out. "In that case, please go ahead."
"I was wondering about how you lived?"
"I an, must have been hard living amongst the cultivators when your entire family is that of mortals."
"Now that you ntioned it..." Lin ilin’s eyes went into a daze as she whispered softly. "It was difficult at first."
"When I was just a child, I used to be the apple of everyone’s eyes, especially the instructor who would teach us martial arts."
"But at the age of ten, when one’s cultivation talent is tested, I was found to have no talent."
"And from that day onwards, my entire life fell apart."
"Gazes of scorn, disdain, and even gloating... I could still feel them on ."
Listening to Lin ilin and seeing her dazed expression as if she was reliving that mont, it was hard for Yang Ze to understand whether she was telling her own story or just another made-up event.
But in the end, he decided it was a made-up story that she perhaps heard from sowhere else. After all, as far as he knew, she was a powerhouse in the realm of Core Condensation. It was simply impossible for her to have no cultivation talent.
Lin ilin, of course, wasnt aware of what he was thinking, otherwise she would have rely smiled in response.
"Then, what happened?" Yang Ze still asked.
"Then..." Lin ilin’s lips curled up in a smile as she shook her head.
"Nothing."
"I took on the family’s responsibilities and started helping out."
Yang Ze didn’t say anything else... He was just waiting for the perfect mont and then...
"So, you never made any friends?"
Lin ilin didn’t think too much. She just shook her head in response.
"Not even a lover?" Yang Ze asked again, but this ti, his heart was pacing at an uncontrollable rate.
"Where is this going?" Lin ilin simply turned around to look at Yang Ze with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
*Thump
Yang Ze felt his chest tightening, but he still steeled his heart to ask.
"I was wondering if you ever thought of getting married."
Looking at Lin ilin’s smiling face, which gave him an eerie feeling, he still asked.
"Ever thought of living with.. What do we call it? I forgot... the person you stay together with after marriage."
"Husband?" Lin ilin asked with furrowed brows.
*Thump
Yang Ze’s heart almost jumped out of his throat as he nodded hurriedly.
"Yea... exactly... husband." With a forced smile, he looked at the item covered in front of him with fog that seed to tremble for a mont before slowly revealing itself.
