Nina-san didn't have combat abilities like we did. I didn't think she could do much to stop a violent mob. I wasn't worried about her getting hurt—the people she was with were monstrously strong—but I wondered what she could actually do.
"You're thinking about whether she'll be useful, right?" Alice-san said, cutting off. She looked up at the ceiling, a nostalgic smile playing on her lips. "Back during the war, Issei, Morris, Leisha, and I were always on the move. We had to be. But the only reason we could move was because Nina stayed behind. She carried everyone's anxiety on her shoulders and held the country of Audelia together. She might look soft and fluffy, but that girl has a spine of steel."
I rembered hearing sothing like that when we first spoke in Audelia. Because Nina-san stayed behind, Big Brother and the others were free to fight. If they hadn't been on the front lines, there might never have been peace. I might not be standing here by his side right now.
In that sense, Nina-san was just as much a hero of the peace as they were.
"As long as Nina is there, it'll be fine," Alice-san said proudly. "Her voice reaches people's hearts. That kind, gentle soul of hers..." She clearly trusted her sister with her whole heart.
"Though... she still drives crazy sotis! I an, why is she developing faster than ?! It's so annoying! She's the younger sister, but she's got those... those things! And she flaunts them! Is she in league with Vika or sothing?!"
Alice-san wailed at the heavens. I an... I think Alice-san's chest has gotten bigger since we t, but she's still obsessed with it. From my perspective, she's developed a very lovely shape, so I'm actually a bit jealous.
Then again, I'm pretty sure Nina-san teases her because she knows exactly how to get a reaction. They really are close.
Sisters... younger sisters... little sisters...
"—O-Onii... Onii-chan..."
"Gah!" I suddenly coughed up a spray of blood.
"Miwa-chan?! What happened?!"
"Uugh... Onii-chan... calling 'big sister'... No! I'm suffering from a Dil-chan deficiency!"
"Again?! You were doing this in Scandinavia too! How much did you inherit from Issei? You two really are siblings in all the worst ways!"
"Ehehe... you're making blush..."
"It wasn't a complint!" Alice-san snapped.
This was bad. I hadn't realized my 'little sister' ter was running so low. It was a total oversight! Though, I suppose these last few days have made truly understand how Big Brother feels.
So this... this is the Path of the Siscon!
What is this feeling? It's overwhelming. I want to go find Dil-chan right now and just fluff her hair until I feel better. But she's busy. I can't just call her back for sothing like this. I shouldn't want things I can't have.
So, how do I deal with this impulse?
"Ah..." A brilliant idea struck . Or rather, an urge I had been suppressing finally clawed its way to the surface.
"Alright."
"Miwa-chan?" Alice-san looked at suspiciously as I stood up. I took one step, then another, toward the hospital bed...
And then I dove straight onto my unconscious brother.
"Aah?! No fair—I an, what are you doing?!"
"I just realized I haven't absorbed any 'Onii-chan elents' in days," I muffled into his chest. "I need this."
It was true. I hadn't talked to him, hadn't cuddled him, hadn't shared a bath... we hadn't even kissed. My body was at its limit. My Issei-levels were dangerously low!
"I can't hold back anymore."
"Miwa-chan, you're making that sound way more inappropriate than it is."
"I'm frustrated!"
"Miwa-chan?!"
"I just want to be spoiled by my brother!"
"Oh... so it was the Brocon side taking over," Alice-san sighed, exasperated.
I buried my face in his chest, hugging him tight. Ah... there it is. His heartbeat is so soothing. Between the Trihexa ss, going to Heaven, and the trip to Scandinavia, there were always too many people around, so I had to behave.
"If I did this in front of everyone, they'd never let hear the end of it."
"...I'm right here, you know," Alice-san said with a heavy sigh.
I looked up at her. "You want in, Alice-san?"
Her face turned beet-red instantly, and I could practically see steam rising from her head. "M-M-M-?! I an, I—that is—I'm fine, really! Everyone else is working so hard, it feels wrong to slack off like this! So, I'll pass..."
"..."
"...Maybe just for five minutes."
A mont later, a blushing Alice-san climbed into the bed beside us.
