Now reading: Chapter 1128 - 1128 190 Shadow from High School of Demon Hunting, a Fantasy novel by Solemn Knight.

1128: Chapter 190: Shadow 1128: Chapter 190: Shadow The Wizard World is rife with spirits, and Zheng Qing understood that very well.

Having spent more than half a year at First University, he had seen all sorts of ghosts, zombies, vampires, werewolves, and other ghostly creatures, but he had never actually seen the kind of disturbing shadow ghost creature like those from horror films during his childhood.

After all, this place is considered the pinnacle of goodness in the Wizard World, with few havens for such strange beings.

But now, it seed he had such an opportunity.

The shadow reflected on the bed canopy appeared to be beast-like, with a head, four limbs, and faintly, even a tail.

Since it was night, the fireflies’ light was inherently uneven, and with the wind outside, the chilly breeze that sneaked through the gaps in the windows caused the curtains to sway slightly, making that shadow appear even more twisted.

Most crucially, the shadow was very distinct.

Even on the dark fabric of the curtains, its shape was clearly reflected.

A twisted head, a twisted body, twisted limbs, a twisted tail—the entire distorted shadow twisted Zheng Qing’s expression as well.

He stared with wide eyes, pointed a finger at the shadow, and half-opened his mouth, hissing as he drew in a breath of cold air.

Professor Yao, who was scolding a young scholarship student, quickly noticed the boy’s abnormality.

He didn’t think Zheng Qing was joking with him, but he also didn’t believe Zheng Qing had seen anything truly frightening.

At most, he had spooked himself.

After all, this was First University, the Dean’s Office of Jiuyou Academy, and he was the Dean of Jiuyou Academy, a top sorcerer in the Wizard World.

Which of the evil spirits would dare to hop around in front of him and not be afraid of being caught for experints?

Despite such judgnt in his mind, as a wizard, Old Yao still possessed the necessary caution.

He squinted, pinching his newly purchased pipe in one hand and placing the other on the Law book at the side of the desk, and turned his head back.

And so, he too saw the shadow reflected on the curtain.

Professor Yao tugged at the corner of his mouth and raised a hand to greet the shadow:

“Long ti no see, Mr.

Huang…

How are you feeling?”

The first “Mr.” was a respectful address for a guest, the latter “Mr.” referred to the distinguished person behind the guest.

The curtain trembled slightly, and a Yellow Flowered Cat with amber eyes erged from behind the curtain, stepping on the windowsill.

With a nimble leap, it sprang onto Professor Yao’s desk, and then, like a victorious noble lord, took small steps, inspecting around the desk.

Zheng Qing discovered that the cats at First University all seed to have this bad habit, always liking to claim their territory in unfamiliar environnts.

After making its rounds, the Yellow Flowered Cat nonchalantly lay down in front of Dean Yao’s teacup, dipped its head inside for a couple of licks, then spat a few tis.

It turned to look at the box of pastries next to the teacup, hesitated a few seconds, and finally did not extend its paw.

Throughout this process, Old Yao kept smiling, not interrupting.

It was only then that the creature seed to rember soone had greeted it, and looked back at Old Yao.

“Yes, quite good,” the Yellow Flowered Cat humd through its nose, answering Old Yao’s question—it never liked the fake smile on Old Yao’s face, as if a few extra grins could cover up his fiery temper.

Hearing it speak, the scholarship student who had been stunned at the desk finally ca to his senses, and stamred, “Brother Huang?!

What are you doing here…

You scared to death just now.”

The Yellow Flowered Cat looked at the boy with disdain: “A tiny courage, never improving from childhood to adulthood.”

Zheng Qing sheepishly lowered his head.

Then he realized sothing.

“You know Brother Huang?” The student looked up at Professor Yao, his eyes widened with curiosity.

Before Old Yao had a chance to answer, the Yellow Flowered Cat rudely interrupted Zheng Qing’s question, “Back when I was running the bookstore, this old guy often ca to buy books!”

Professor Yao coughed twice, stuffed the tobacco pipe back into his mouth, and didn’t deny it, which pretty much amounted to an acknowledgnt.

Zheng Qing wanted to continue asking if Professor Yao knew Mr.

Wu, but the Yellow Flowered Cat didn’t plan to let him keep asking questions.

It leaned its head forward, eyeing the grey cloth bag hanging on Zheng Qing’s waist.

“Do you have your Charm Gun with you?” It asked directly.

“Charm Gun?” Zheng Qing’s hand subconsciously reached into the grey cloth bag, touched the cold gun barrel, and then he nodded, “It’s all here.”

“They all work?

Not broken?” The Yellow Flowered Cat’s tail flicked, whisking across the teacup on the desk.

A few cat hairs seed to fall into the cup following the swish of its tail.

Unnoticed by others, Old Yao slightly frowned, resolved to thoroughly disinfect his quilt later.

Hearing the Yellow Flowered Cat’s question, Zheng Qing imdiately ca to his senses.

“Um…

indeed, I almost forgot.” He took out his recently used Colt Python and disassembled it skillfully.

Just as Brother Huang had said, the runes etched on the structure of the Charm Gun—on the trigger, magazine, safety, and other parts—were mostly damaged, especially on the gun barrel where many runes had been completely worn away.

The young cost student took a deep breath.

Indeed, it was so.

Last ti, after blasting that huge toad in the Silent Forest with his Remington, he had discovered damaged runes on it, but fortunately, it was a gift from a Big Wizard, and despite so faults, it still functioned for simple use.

At that ti, Zheng Qing had suspected whether using the Blood Symbol Bullet had any serious impact on the Charm Gun.

So this ti, he had specifically chosen the well-conditioned Python revolver for shooting.

The result was a mix of joy and sorrow.

Joy because his guess was confird; after firing a Blood Symbol Bullet, the Python’s rune array indeed suffered damage.

Mournfully, this gun was clearly not as durable as the Remington Su Shijun had given him, with a large number of runes on the gun barrel worn away, evidently losing the function for further use.

“Oh no!” The young cost student wailed, cradling his Charm Gun, sowhat at a loss.

Most of his confidence in going to the Hunting Ground relied on these two guns; if the Charm Guns were rendered useless, wouldn’t he have to revert to the old thod of launching Fu Bullets with a slingshot?

“Can Green Grocery repair Charm Guns?” Zheng Qing looked at Professor Yao full of hope.

He had considered buying a new Charm Gun, but firstly, the procedures were complicated and the prices were steep; secondly, the guns were gifts from others and it didn’t feel right to simply discard them; thirdly, his budget was limited, and, after all, he was a frugal and thrifty good lad who would save wherever possible.

Old Yao clicked his tobacco pipe twice and shook his head, “You said it yourself, that’s a grocery store, how could they possibly repair Charm Guns…

Martin Todd Alchemy Company does offer such services.

Alternatively, if you’re unsure, you could find an alchemist at the school…”

“Ask those people from Alpha Fortress?” the Yellow Flowered Cat sneered.

At this, Old Yao was left speechless.

This indeed was a problem.

The most adept college in Alchemy at First University was Alpha Academy, and accordingly, the majority of skillful alchemists were affiliated with Alpha Academy.

Considering the current strife between the two academies, not only was it inconvenient for Zheng Qing to seek help from that side, but Old Yao himself also couldn’t swallow his pride to ask for their assistance.
