Bang!
The door to the Jiuyou Academy Dean’s Office at First University swung open with a resounding bang. Today was the Ban Magic Festival, so the Door Gods were off duty, and the corridor’s cold wind eagerly surged forward, only to be whipped back at the threshold.
Except for the Wizard who pushed the door.
The assistant corps’ acting leader, clad in a black robe, hurried into the office. His steps were sowhat flustered, and his usually neat robe had acquired many wrinkles.
"The calming tea is on the third shelf of the second cabinet to your left, and the tea set is in the cabinet to the right of the sofa. It’s Ban Magic Festival today, so you’ll need to make it yourself."
Professor Yao, sitting behind the desk, didn’t lift his head, reminding the young Wizard who had just burst in: "Also, rember to knock next ti you co in."
The composure and calmness of the Legendary Wizard quickly helped the agitated acting leader regain composure.
He chose not to drink tea.
"Sorry, professor!"
Zhang Yu, who had abruptly burst into the office, lowered his head, revealing patches of graying hair, and when he raised his head again, he glanced at the sky outside. Although the strange and fearful aura had already vanished without a trace, he still felt uneasy: "Outside..."
"Just a minor accident, nothing to be so tense about."
Old Yao interrupted him, still without raising his head. In the brief mont the young assistant had entered, he had already processed four or five files, and his tone remained as brisk as ever: "The school’s Protect Legal Formation hasn’t seen such an occasion in a long ti, so it reacted slightly... Of course, don’t say that in front of it, it’s sotis quite sensitive."
Two consecutive exchanges were not what the acting leader expected.
For a mont, Zhang Yu hesitated, unsure of what to ask next—the mont before coming here, he had urgently assembled all mbers of the assistant corps, believing there was a major upheaval at the school, and had rushed into the professor’s office to seek directives.
But now, it seed he had made a blunder?
He wondered if the gray-robed school workers who had hurried back to the school with him felt as awkward before Vice Principal Ruoyu; or how those Trident Sword specialists would report to Robert.
"You ca at the right ti."
The voice of the Dean of Jiuyou Academy halted the assistant corps’ acting leader’s wandering thoughts. As he ca back to his senses, he caught sight of the professor looking up, a strip of parchnt between his fingers: "You’ve already gathered the assistant corps, right?"
Zhang Yu nodded quickly.
Old Yao shook the parchnt and instructed: "...Later, you’ll draw so manpower from the assistant corps to assist the School Works Committee in maintaining order inside and outside the school. Ah yes, that aura carried a trace of the ancient ones’ majesty, many ordinary Wizards might not be able to withstand it. But since the aura wasn’t targeted, there won’t be any aftereffects. You just need to make sure no one takes advantage of the situation... Also, send a team to Silent Forest, many magical creatures have passed out, you can politely harvest so materials from them. But don’t overdo it."
The acting leader’s mind reverberated with the words ’ancient ones’, his heart stirred.
So much so that he didn’t even chuckle at the professor’s slightly playful final reminder.
"Has a Legend advanced?" Although he knew it wasn’t appropriate, Zhang Yu couldn’t suppress his curiosity, the words ’Era of Great Contention’ filled his mind.
"Advanced? Ancient ones? As if it were so easy." Professor Yao seed to have heard a joke, laughing heartily: "The one who ca to greet today, you also know, it’s the one who advanced in Black Prison."
In such topics, the Legendary Wizard rely touched on the surface.
"But..." Zhang Yu frowned, having attended the Battle of the Black Prison, though not claiming to completely understand that ancient presence, he at least sensed its aura, which felt completely different from what he felt at school today.
"Don’t use low-dinsional cognition to speculate about high-dinsional existences."
The professor shook his head, and with a flick of his finger, the parchnt between his fingers slowly floated to the assistant corps’ acting leader: "This ssage, later hand it over to the campus newspaper editorial departnt... If Beta Town wants one, they can have a copy. Let them publish related news according to the guidelines. Don’t stir up trouble."
Zhang Yu took the parchnt and stared at it—
—According to the annual training plan, the First University Assistant Corps, School Works Committee, and Protect Legal Formation carried out an all-elent ergency practice drill on March 29 (Ban Magic Festival), aiming to test the school’s regular rapid response, safety lockdown, protection formation deploynt, and multiple basic capabilities...
The parchnt not only bore the seals of the School Works Committee and the Professor Joint eting but also had personal stamps from Vice Principal Ruoyu, Professor Emma, and Professor Yao.
"Oh, before handing it over, rember to add your assistant corps’ stamp." Old Yao casually reminded, picking up the feather pen at hand again: "...Anything else?"
The young assistant bowed and quietly retreated.
...
...
Zheng Qing remained at First Square for nearly half an hour before receiving follow-up notifications from the corps—the ergency assembly was canceled, so assistants were recruited for temporary tasks, while newcors like him were dismissed to return ho.
Leaving one sowhat puzzled.
Still, in that short half-hour, he had caught much information through others’ chatter.
Such as the appearance of a massive Green Snake spanning several blocks in Beta Town, or the apparent appearance of peak Legendary Wizard aura on Buji Island, or many low-level Wizards fainting or losing consciousness on the street, Silent Forest being in chaos, and so on.
Zheng Qing felt slightly uneasy.
He had a lingering feeling that these troubles might be related to him, but heaven knows, he had been trapped inside the sandbox with the crows all this ti, and once he got out, he was imdiately summoned by the assistant corps, causing no trouble throughout the process!
As for that ’massive Green Snake spanning several blocks’, he didn’t see, he didn’t know!
At the sa ti, he clearly rembered in the few minutes after erging from the sandbox, his peripheral vision ’seed’ to notice that the North District street was indeed sowhat ’damaged’. But given that the district’s owner hadn’t co looking for him, theoretically, those troubles shouldn’t be pinned on him.
As the young assistant fretted, Zhang Yu returned in ti and made a briefing to everyone, stating that today’s ergency assembly was a temporary drill, a planned training project of the assistant corps throughout the year, and so on.
"Assistants who haven’t received tasks may be dismissed."
Zhang Yu concluded by reminding: "If anyone hears any strange rumors, rember to report them to the corps promptly... Furthermore, the Ban Magic Festival isn’t over, everyone pay attention to set an example, don’t use magic in front of students or outsiders."
