After dinner, it was still snowing outside. Xiao Wei wandered around the living room, occasionally standing by the window to look outside, even hallucinating that Jian Yan was standing there.
But when a car passed by and its headlights illuminated the window, the illusion vanished.

After dinner, Mu Yichen cleaned up the kitchen and went back to the room to handle emails on his phone. Qin Mu stayed on the sofa with her drawing board, sketching until Xiao Wei sat down, prompting her to look up, unable to avert her gaze.
Xiao Wei’s eyelashes were damp with tears.
"What’s wrong?"
Qin Mu asked softly.
The living room was devoid of other noises, so their conversation, though quiet, was perfectly audible.
"I miss Jian Yan!"
Xiao Wei didn’t hide it.
Qin Mu’s eyes shifted as she set down the drawing board, moved closer to sit beside her, and gently hugged her, squeezing her shoulder.
"I understand; when a woman is pregnant, she especially wants a man by her side. Particularly when about to give birth, she wants the child’s father there, right?"
Qin Mu asked softly.
Xiao Wei gave a bitter smile, lowered her head in acknowledgnt, and twisted her hands tightly together.
"I was like that when I was pregnant with Huanhuan too. Even though I was working non-stop at the ti, I couldn’t fall asleep during those quiet nights! Xiao Wei, it will pass, and when he cos to love you, you’ll realize that all this waiting was worth it."
Qin Mu continued.
Xiao Wei looked up at her, seeking comfort from her eyes.
