Newt stayed in the Giant Tribe for a long ti, then went with New Guge and several giants to the largest cave.

He imdiately released his grip, looked around.
He seed to be in a village, surrounded by rows of houses, and he could faintly see a pub sign. Thankfully, not so desolate place.
