Chapter 1212: Story 1212: Blood in the Basent
INT. SAFE ZONE COMPOUND – BASENT LEVEL – NIGHT
The so-called “safe zone” had turned into a prison. Lena, Briggs, Dr. Rho, and the Girl were escorted through gray hallways lit by flickering fluorescent bulbs. The guards—silent, armored, and unmarked—marched them to an elevator that descended too deep for comfort.
DR. RHO (muttering):
“They’re not Harbingers. Not military either. But they know about her…”
Lena kept a tight grip on the girl’s hand. The girl’s silence said more than words.
INT. BASENT – HOLDING BLOCK
The door opened to reveal rows of tal doors on either side—so shut tight, others wide open. Dried blood painted the floor in handprint streaks. The air reeked of iron and decay.
A woman in a lab coat t them. Her badge read Dr. Sylene Mavik.
DR. MAVIK:
“She’s contaminated. But she’s also… miraculous. We’ve only seen one like her before. Subject Theta.”
BRIGGS (snarling):
“We didn’t bring her for experints.”
DR. MAVIK (coldly):
“You didn’t bring her for anything. She brought you.”
Suddenly, the girl whispered sothing incomprehensible. The basent lights flickered—and in the montary darkness, a door slamd shut behind them.
INT. TESTING CHAMBER – LATER
Lena and Briggs were separated. Rho was taken elsewhere. The girl was placed inside a glass cell.
DR. MAVIK (observing):
“We found the original patient zero buried beneath Sector 9. She’s linked to it—cellular echoes. Neural bleed. She’s… listening to it.”
A loud noise interrupted the lecture.
A banging.
Then a scream.
INT. MAINTENANCE HALL – SA TI
Briggs had overpowered a guard and was navigating through sub-basent levels. Blood trails led him past broken containnt tanks. Gurneys. Unused restraints.
Then he saw it.
A figure slumped against the wall. Dr. Rho. Dead. Throat open. But the blood didn’t flow normally—it crawled up the walls like it was sentient.
BRIGGS (whispering):
“Oh hell no.”
Behind him, tal screeched.
INT. GIRL’S CELL – SIMULTANEOUS
The girl looked up. Her eyes rolled back. Then, sothing answered her.
A creature burst through the lab wall—a mass of bone, wire, and flesh. Not zombie. Not human. An amalgamation.
Alarms blared.
The cell doors unlocked automatically.
Lena grabbed the girl and ran.
INT. BASENT – CHAOS UNLEASHED
The basent was a bloodbath. Test subjects poured out—half-dead, twisted, enraged. The compound’s guards were overwheld. Gunfire. Screams. Sprays of red painted the walls anew.
Briggs t them at the stairwell.
BRIGGS:
“We’re done playing guests.”
They sprinted past dying scientists, rising corpses, and flickering warning lights. One screen read:
“BIOHAZARD BREACH – LEVEL 3.”
As they neared the exit, Lena saw Dr. Mavik trying to escape, dragging a case.
LENA:
“What’s in that?”
DR. MAVIK (desperate):
“The blood… it rembers!”
Briggs didn’t wait. He shot the case open.
Inside: vials of blood glowing faintly blue—not quite human.
EXT. SAFE ZONE COMPOUND – NIGHT
The survivors erged into the cold night air. The building behind them burned.
THE GIRL:
“The basent is still alive.”
Lena looked back.
LENA:
“So are we.”
They ran into the darkness—again.
