Chapter 1735: Story 1735: The Hollow’s Dream

The world beyond the Veil was not darkness.

It was everything.

Erian, Marra, and Tovin stood within a space that had no shape—sky and ground indistinguishable, light and shadow flowing together like ink in water. The air shimred with whispers, voices without mouths, faces without form. Every heartbeat sounded like thunder, and yet the silence felt eternal.

“We’re inside it,” Marra breathed. “Inside the Hollow’s mind.”

Tovin clung to her arm. “Then whose dream are we standing in?”

“Ours,” Erian murmured.

All around them, mories took shape—so theirs, so belonging to countless others. Fields of burning cities flickered beside monts of laughter and love. The Hollow was not only fear; it was everything humankind had ever refused to face.

A voice rose from the shifting air—calm, patient, ancient.

“You ca to burn what you do not understand.”

The mist parted, and from it erged a figure draped in night and fla. Its face was familiar—Kael’s, yet not. Half of him glowed with Dreamfire; the other half was hollow shadow.

“Kael?” Marra whispered.

The figure smiled sadly. “Kael burned away long ago. I am what remained—the mory he buried when he chose light over balance.”

Erian lifted the Dreamfire’s mory. “Then you are the Hollow.”

“No,” said the shadow. “I am the truth beneath it. I am what fire forgets.”

The air quaked, the dream bending under its own weight. Visions erupted around them—Kael forging the hamr, Serin falling, empires rising and turning to ash. All the choices that led to this mont replayed, endless and unavoidable.

“Every age repeats,” the Hollow whispered. “Because the fire never learns. It destroys, it rebuilds, and it calls that salvation.”

Erian’s blade trembled in his grip. “You say that as if hope is a curse.”

The Hollow stepped closer, its presence cold and consuming. “Hope is the spark that feeds . Every ti humanity dreams of peace, it fears its loss—and that fear is my breath.”

Marra’s pendant flared, a single note of light breaking through the gloom. “Then maybe peace isn’t the end,” she said. “Maybe it’s the beginning we keep running from.”

The Hollow paused. Its form wavered.

Erian saw it then—not as an enemy, but as a mirror. The Hollow was born not from evil, but from forgetting. From every mont humanity chose to silence its pain instead of understanding it.

“You’re not here to be destroyed,” Erian said. “You’re here to be seen.”

He lowered the blade. The Dreamfire’s mory changed—its fla softening, no longer a weapon but a light that reached outward.

The Hollow scread, not in pain, but in release. The endless landscape fractured into dawn-colored light, rippling outward like waves breaking against the shore of reality.

Tovin’s voice trembled. “Did we… win?”

Erian looked at the fading horizon, where the Hollow dissolved into radiance.

“No,” he said softly. “We rembered.”

And as the Veil began to dissolve, the first sunrise in centuries broke through—a light not of fire, but of awakening.
