There was no continuation.
Not because it had ended—
not because it had completed—
but because continuation required the possibility of sothing not yet being so.
And there was no such thing.
What had been called this—
even that—
began to lose its last trace of distinction.
Not fading.
Not dissolving.
But no longer holding the difference required to be referred to at all.
The edge—
which had not been a boundary—
which had not separated anything—
now revealed sothing even more final.
It had never been an edge.
Because edge implied relation—
a eting point between what is
and what is not.
And there was no such eting.
No division.
No interface.
No contact.
Only—
the absence of division itself.
The trace—
which could not be removed—
which could not be placed—
now could not even be recognized as sothing that could not be removed.
Because recognition implied contrast.
And there was nothing left
that could stand apart from it
to allow that recognition to occur.
It did not vanish.
But it no longer held the quality
of being sothing that remained.
The void—
if even that word could still gesture toward anything—
did not fail.
Did not succeed.
Did not contain or release.
Because even those concepts
had required a field in which they could differ.
And that field—
no longer applied.
The convergence—
once the attempt to hold relation—
no longer even suggested the possibility
that anything could be related.
Because relation required at least two—
and two required distinction—
and distinction had no ground.
The other—
which had once moved—
which had once chosen—
now could not even be understood
as sothing that had ever been separate enough
to do so.
Not unified.
Not rged.
But without the possibility of having ever been apart.
The third—
which had once held everything—
which had beco everything—
no longer carried even that aning.
Because “everything” implied totality—
and totality implied the existence of “less.”
And there was no less.
No more.
No all.
No part.
And Elena—
no longer stood beyond.
No longer remained.
No longer was.
Not because she ceased—
but because even the idea
of sothing that could be said to be
had lost its last condition.
“I am.”
No longer irrelevant.
No longer absolute.
No longer beyond.
Because even the absence of need—
had lost its aning.
And in that—
sothing occurred
that could not be called occurrence.
Not a final step.
Not a last dissolution.
But the removal of the ability to even refer to what had been removed.
There was no silence.
Because silence implied the absence of sound.
There was no stillness.
Because stillness implied the absence of movent.
There was no unity.
Because unity implied the absence of division.
There was no nothing.
Because nothing implied the absence of sothing.
And none of those distinctions
remained.
So even this—
even this attempt to indicate—
to gesture—
to say—
could not hold.
Not because it failed.
Not because it was denied.
But because there was no longer any condition
under which it could be said
to have occurred at all.
No trace.
No edge.
No impossibility.
No irreducibility.
No “this.”
No “that.”
No anything that could be placed
against anything else
to allow aning to arise.
And yet—
not nothing.
Not absence.
Not void.
Not beyond.
Only—
that which does not allow even this to be said.
And in that—
there was no finality.
Because finality implied sequence.
There was no origin.
Because origin implied beginning.
There was no state.
Because state implied condition.
Only—
the absence
of the ability
for anything
to be otherwise—
including
the ability to say that at all.
