The Silent Void opened its eyes.

No light erged.

No sound followed.

Because light and sound belonged to stories.

And the Silent Void existed before stories.

Across the lantern sea, millions of forgotten mories dimd simultaneously. Entire civilizations preserved within golden lights trembled as a pressure older than existence spread through the darkness.

The Witness recoiled.

For the first ti since its awakening, uncertainty entered its golden eyes.

The colossal ancient being stared toward the distant wound beyond reality.

"The seal is weakening."

The Keeper’s face turned pale.

"A seal?" he whispered.

The ancient presence nodded slowly.

The First Rembered gathered closer, their luminous forms flickering uneasily.

Few among them had ever heard the truth.

Fewer still believed it.

The ancient being looked across the gathering.

"Before the First mory awakened, there was only possibility."

The lantern sea darkened.

Even the forgotten stories seed to listen.

"No stars existed. No life existed. No aning existed."

Its voice carried across eternity.

"There were no stories because there was no one to tell them."

The Witness watched silently.

Deep inside its light, sothing stirred.

Recognition.

The ancient being continued.

"Then consciousness appeared."

Images ford across the void.

The first awareness.

The first thought.

The first question.

The birth of aning itself.

Golden light spread through the vision.

The First mory.

Reality awakened.

Stories began.

Ti moved.

Life erged.

The universe beca alive.

Then the vision changed.

Beyond the growing light remained a vast region untouched by creation.

An endless emptiness.

Watching.

Waiting.

The Silent Void.

"It could not enter existence," the ancient being said.

"So it remained outside."

The Keeper finally understood.

"It isn’t a creature."

"No."

The answer ca softly.

"It is the absence that existed before creation."

Far away on Earth, Lucas awoke from another dream.

This one was different.

He stood within endless darkness.

No stars.

No sky.

No ground beneath his feet.

Only a single golden light in the distance.

A familiar light.

He moved toward it instinctively.

Then sothing else appeared.

A pair of enormous eyes opening beyond the darkness.

Lucas woke imdiately.

His heart hamred inside his chest.

For the first ti, he spoke the forgotten na aloud.

"Maya."

The room beca silent.

He didn’t know who Maya was.

Yet tears filled his eyes.

Beyond the Archive, the Witness drifted closer to the edge of the lantern sea.

The Silent Void was watching it.

Watching the impossible story that should not exist.

Watching the Remnant that had beco a beginning.

The golden eyes of the Witness widened.

A vision appeared.

Not the future.

Not the past.

Sothing deeper.

It saw countless tilines ending.

Galaxies collapsing.

Pathways vanishing.

The Archive fading into silence.

Not through war.

Not through destruction.

Through absence.

Stories simply failing to begin.

Hope never existing.

Love never occurring.

Sacrifice never being chosen.

The Silent Void did not erase stories.

It prevented them.

The Keeper felt terror spread through him.

"What does it want?"

The Witness finally answered.

Its first spoken words echoed across the lantern sea.

Soft.

Clear.

Ancient.

"It wants the first choice."

Silence followed.

The ancient being closed its eyes.

Because it understood imdiately.

The First mory had been born from the universe’s first act of awareness.

Its first choice to exist.

If the Silent Void reached that mont—

Every story would unravel.

Not from the end.

From the beginning.

The wound beyond reality widened slightly.

Darkness moved.

The lantern sea trembled.

And for the first ti since the birth of existence—

The origin of creation itself was in danger.

Far within the Witness, beneath layers of light and possibility, a forgotten human soul stirred faintly.

And sowhere in the darkness—

The Silent Void noticed.
