Leon barely had ti to dodge before razor-sharp claws slashed through the air where his throat had been.
The creatures were fast—too fast.
Their elongated limbs allowed them to scramble across walls and ceilings, their grotesque tongues snapping out like whips, slicing through debris as they cornered the team.
“Move!
Now!” Reaper barked, unleashing a hail of gunfire at the nearest one.
The bullets ripped into its chest, black ichor spraying the ground—but it didn’t stop.
The creature’s exposed brain pulsed, tendrils twitching as it adapted to the pain.
It snarled and lunged.
Mia barely ducked in ti, feeling the wind from its claws brush past her face.
Samantha fired her shotgun at the second Stalker, blowing off half its face.
It reeled, its jaw hanging uselessly—but its body kept moving.
Evelyn’s mind raced.
They were evolving.
“Headshots aren’t enough!” she yelled, scrambling for her satchel.
“We need to burn them!”
Lucas pulled a Molotov from his pack and lit the rag.
“Then let’s light these bastards up.”
The third Stalker pounced, its massive claws arcing toward Reaper.
He spun at the last second, slamming his machete into its exposed ribs.
The creature shrieked, but instead of retreating, it latched onto him with its tongue.
Reaper’s eyes widened as it yanked him forward.
The Molotov flew.
The bottle smashed against the Stalker’s back, and flas erupted, swallowing the creature in an inferno.
It scread, its charred flesh peeling away, exposing raw muscle and twitching nerves.
It thrashed violently, crashing into the other two.
Mia grabbed Reaper, pulling him away.
“Co on, big guy, let’s not get roasted today.”
The Stalkers writhed in agony, their bodies twisting unnaturally as the fire consud them.
But then—one moved.
Even as it burned, it crawled toward them, its teeth snapping wildly in mindless, undying hunger.
Evelyn grabbed a flare gun and fired point-blank into its skull.
The creature’s head ignited, and with one final wail, it collapsed.
Silence fell over the ruined building.
The stench of burning flesh hung thick in the air as the team caught their breath.
Leon wiped the sweat from his brow.
“That was too close.”
Evelyn knelt beside the smoldering corpse, her expression grim.
“They weren’t just fast.
They were studying us.”
Lucas exhaled.
“And if there are more of them?”
Reaper spat blood and cracked his neck.
“Then we better be ready.”
Mia glanced at the flas licking the ceiling.
“We need to go before this whole place cos down.”
Leon nodded.
“Let’s move.”
But in the distance, hidden in the thick shadows of the ruins…
Sothing else was watching.
