“Don’t overthink it. It’s not like what you think.” Qian Wudang seed to have seen through Lu Ye’s mind, so he straightened up and placed his hands on the table as he decided to be frank with him. “Since other teams don’t lack any mbers, I’d like to make a new team and let you be the leader.”
“Huh?” Lu Ye thought he had misheard him. “You want to be a leader?”
[Is he pulling my leg?]
“Yes.” Qian Wudang nodded solemnly. “I want to create a new law enforcent team and let you be the leader. What do you say?”
Lu Ye was startled. Initially, he thought Qian Wudang was facing so difficulty, so the latter couldn’t accept him into the Ministry of Laws. Turned out it wasn’t the case. Instead, he wanted Lu Ye to lead a team.
Lu Ye knew little about the Ministry of Laws, and the only law enforcent team he had co into contact with was Team A3, whose leader was a Ninth-Order Real Lake Realm Master, so he was only one step away from the Divine Ocean Realm. The other mbers were in the Third-Order or Fourth-Order Real Lake Realm.
He didn’t know what other teams were like, but he reckoned they weren’t so different from Team A3.
Given his cultivation, even if he joined the Law Enforcent Hall, he would be the weakest and have to obey orders. He wouldn’t have the right to give orders, let alone lead.
However, soone like Qian Wudang wouldn’t pull his leg when it ca to such a matter.
“Sir, can I know why?” Lu Ye asked.
Qian Wudang explained, “I had pored over the report written by Team A3 previously. Geng Wuwang and the other mbers thought highly of you. They unanimously thought that you were the main reason that the mission was successful. When carrying out the task, you were unflustered and unafraid of a powerful opponent. You could also unite the team mbers and achieve a breakthrough in a predicant. It went to show how responsive you were. These are all qualities that the Law Enforcent Hall needs.”
Despite the praise, Lu Ye beca even more wary. He felt that the matter wasn’t as simple as it seed.
“Also, you’re powerful enough. When you went to carry out the task with Team A3 at that ti, you were only a First-Order Real Lake Realm Master, but the power you showcased was significantly stronger than your Realm. I’ve heard that you’re able to kill enemies much stronger than you are. “Of course, the main reason is that your military rank is high enough. Throughout the entire Bing Zhou Watch, soone of your cultivation is usually a first or second lieutenant. However, you’re already a captain, so you have a right to lead. If I put you in a team where the leader is only a first lieutenant, he can’t possibly order you to do anything.”
Lu Ye frowned even though Qian Wudang had a point. A higher military rank would allow soone to have a bigger say in so situations. Still, he felt that sothing was off.
“All in all, you have the right to be the leader of a team. It’s a conclusion I’ve co to after serious consideration.” Qian Wudang glanced solemnly at him.
Lu Ye nodded, acknowledging his statent to be true. However, he wasn’t interested in becoming a leader. A team usually consisted of six people. As a mber, he just had to obey orders, but if he was a leader, there were many things he needed to consider. At the very least, he had to ensure the safety of his mbers when carrying out a task.
“Sir, I…”
Before Lu Ye could finish his words, Qian Wudang cut him off. “Being a leader has many benefits. The main benefit is that as a leader of a law enforcent team, you’ll get two salaries every month. As you’re a captain now, you’ll get 30,000 battle points every month. If you’re also a team leader, you’ll get 60,000 battle points in total.”

Qian Wudang talked incessantly before Lu Ye could even finish a sentence. Lu Ye beca more vigilant because of that. It seed to him that Qian Wudang was eager to make him a team leader. [Why is that?]
“Sir, I…”
“You’d better think it through.” Qian Wudang leaned forward and stared fixedly at him. It was as though after he had so much, he wouldn’t let Lu Ye step out of the door if the latter didn’t give him a satisfactory answer.
Lu Ye understood his intention through his gaze. Still, he replied impassively, “Sir, are you aware that my Sect Master had arrived yesterday?”
“Is Elder Tang here?” Qian Wudang was startled as he wasn’t aware of it. When Tang Yi Feng arrived the day before, he only went to look for so old friends. No one inford Qian Wudang about it.
Soon, he ca to his senses and realised Lu Ye was threatening him using Tang Yi Feng’s na, so he glowered at him.
“Sir, is it an order that you want to be a team leader?” Lu Ye asked.
If it was an order, he couldn’t turn him down. Otherwise, he would be punished for disobeying the Commander. He still vividly rembered what it felt like to be struck by Reverse Dragon Spine, so he didn’t want to experience it again.
“Well, do you want it to be an order?” Qian Wudang asked him a question instead.
“I won’t regard it as an order, then.” Lu Ye rose to his feet and cupped his fists. “Thanks for the offer, Sir. I’m afraid I’m not qualified to be a team leader. Please appoint soone else to take up the role.”
“Alright.” Qian Wudang nodded. “Forget it, then.”
It wasn’t like he could force Lu Ye to agree to it when the latter was unwilling to take up the role. However, he was afraid he would be pestered by a certain soone.
“You may leave now. I’ll look for a suitable team for you to join.” Qian Wudang waved his hand.
“Thanks, Sir. I’ll take my leave, then.” Lu Ye turned around and left. He strode forward initially, but his pace slowed down as he went further. When he reached the door, he turned around and returned.
“What’s wrong?” Qian Wudang was puzzled.
“Sir, if I agree to be a team leader, can I freely choose my mbers?” Lu Ye suddenly thought of sothing when leaving the place earlier. If he could choose his own mbers, he could solve a problem that had been bugging him.
“Yes.” Qian Wudang nodded. “Since it’s a new team, everything will be new. As the leader, you can choose your mbers.”
As he spoke, he suddenly realised sothing, so he asked with a smile, “Do you have so candidates in mind?”
Instead of answering his question, Lu Ye asked, “Are there restrictions when I choose my mbers? For example, can I select so soldiers from the Passes at the front line?”
“Well, there usually won’t be a problem, but it depends on whether their higher-ups are willing to let them go.” The mobilisation of soldiers at the front line was normal. As long as there was a formal docunt and a Pass Leader agreed to it, a soldier could be transferred to another place.
“What if their higher-ups don’t let them go?” Lu Ye asked.
Qian Wudang smiled confidently. “I believe they’ll show so respect.”
As the Commander of the Ministry of Laws, he was just as privileged as the mbers of the Elder Council. He believed no Pass Leader would turn him down if he wanted to get soone transferred to his Ministry.
Now, he could confirm that Lu Ye must have so candidates in mind and want to get them from other places, which was why his stance changed.
“Who are the people you want to be your mbers?” Qian Wudang was curious.
“I don’t have anyone in mind yet. Sir, if you want to be a team leader, I have a request. Please agree to it.”
“Tell about it.”
“I want to have a right to select mbers from the Passes at the front line.”
“Sure.” Qian Wudang directly agreed to it and put on a smile. “However, I have a request too.”
“What is it, Sir?” Lu Ye instantly kept his guard up, knowing that his feeling was right. Qian Wudang had an ulterior motive for wanting him to be a team leader, and the request was probably his true intention.
“Don’t worry. I won’t make things difficult for you. If you think you can’t accept it, you can turn down.”
Upon hearing that, Lu Ye was relieved.
“Go back now. You’ll find out about it tomorrow.”
“Sir, you just said that a team leader will have a residence in Grand Sky City…”
Qian Wudang was speechless at that, feeling that Lu Ye was too pragmatic. He wanted his own residence before he even beca a team leader.
It was a small matter anyway, so Qian Wudang directly agreed to it. “Go and look for an empty house. Just tell the location, and I’ll hand in the application for you. However, I have to make it clear that the residence is for you to stay. It’s not given to you. When you’re no longer part of the Ministry of Laws one day, the residence will be retrieved.”

A mont later, an excited Lu Ye left the Ministry of Laws and searched around the area near Tang Yi Feng’s residence. Soon, he found an empty house. Then, he contacted Qian Wudang with his military token and inford him of the location. Qian Wudang would hand in the application for him.
That way, the building would be his residence in Grand Sky City. Although it wasn’t huge, there were several rooms, which would be sufficient for six mbers to stay.
As for who his mbers would be, he already had so candidates in mind. He couldn’t get all five mbers in a short ti, but he could recruit one to two people first.
