That damn girl! She can run, but she can’t hide.

ACHOO!
Vera Wave, who had just squeezed into the subway, sneezed loudly.
She rubbed her nose and took out the ID Card that she had "borrowed" from Kris Cooper.
"Sorry, I really didn’t an to steal it," she whispered.
Working at the Clubhouse couldn’t last forever. She needed a real job, and without an ID Card, she couldn’t even get an interview.
As for the money she owed Cooper, she fully intended to pay him back.
Looking around, she found an empty seat and sat down, carefully slipping the ID Card back into an inner pocket of her backpack.
She imdiately opened the job listings newspaper she had bought and scanned the recruitnt information.
As an intern who hadn’t graduated yet, job hunting was definitely not an easy task. She had sent out countless résumés, but they had all vanished without a trace.
She flipped through the entire newspaper but didn’t find any positions suitable for her.
"Companies these days! They either demand high academic qualifications or work experience... Are they trying to deny us graduates a way to make a living?" she grumbled quietly, still flipping through the newspaper.
Her phone buzzed twice. She pulled it out; her screen displayed a new ssage from "Money-mad LADY" on Whatsapp.
Money-mad LADY was a friend she had t at a previous part-ti job. Her real na was Isla Hawskin. Because she worshipped money, she had given herself the nickna "Money-mad."
Vera opened her Whatsapp chat with Isla, and Isla’s voice ssage imdiately began to play.
"Skywalk Gas is hiring. Do you want to go for an interview with ?" the voice ssage asked.
Vera was familiar with Skywalk Gas; it was a powerhouse Gaming company in the industry.
Its mobile and console ga divisions were prosperous, occupying a large portion of the dostic market share. Moreover, its flagship mobile ga, "King’s Journey," had also beco a sensation overseas.
Both Vera and Isla were fans of "King’s Journey." If I could work for a major company like that, it would definitely be good for my career, Vera thought.
"Would they even consider interns like us?" Vera wondered aloud into her phone, perhaps recording a reply.
"That’s where you’re wrong," Isla’s voice ssage continued. "Skywalk Gas loves young people, especially creative newcors. They have many art-related positions open, which would be perfect for a talented newbie like you."
Really? Then let’s give it a try.
Worst case scenario, it’s just one more wasted résumé, she thought.
"So, can you co over now?" Isla’s voice asked in a new ssage. "Head directly to the Skywalk Building. I’m already here... Oh, by the way, you do know where the Skywalk Building is, right?"
Yes, I do, Vera thought.
A year ago, that building wasn’t called Skywalk; it was Walter Property.
Back then, she had moved through that building with ease, and everyone there had called her "Young Miss."
The subway arriving at the station brought her back to the present. She hurriedly got off with the crowd.
The Skywalk Building was just a short distance from the Subway Station. It had once been considered a landmark.
Exiting the Subway Station, Vera spotted the Skywalk Building imdiately.
Under the midday sun, the building’s freshly renovated facade glead, particularly striking along with its unique logo: a stylized design inspired by the cursive form of the Chinese character aning ’to travel,’ which was part of the company’s na, Skywalk.
Vera sighed softly and headed towards the Skywalk Building.
"Vera!"
She had just stepped onto the building’s entrance stairs when a familiar female voice called out to her from the distance.
Turning towards the voice, Vera saw Isla on the stairs, waving enthusiastically at her.
Seeing her friend whom she hadn’t seen for days, Vera broke into a smile and jogged towards her.
"I already asked around for you. The Design Departnt is hiring, and it’s a perfect fit for you!" Isla said, straightening Vera’s hair a little. Then, noticing Vera’s plain face, she frowned. "Why did you co without any makeup on?"

Kris Cooper (voice-over): "Oh, Vera, you refuse the road to Paradise and gatecrash Hell instead, AHAHA!"
