"I was out, so I ca straight over. It’s fine, I won’t bother with makeup."
"That won’t do at all! Co to the restroom; I’ll help you with your makeup." Isla Hawskin grabbed her arm, guiding her into the Skywalk Hall. "Why do you think so many people spend a fortune going under the knife? This is an era where looks are everything! You should have seen those girls who just interviewed—every single one was dressed up like a little enchantress. We have to outdo them not only in skill but also in looks; we absolutely can’t fall behind!"
Pulling Vera Wave into the restroom, Isla Hawskin imdiately opened her bag and took out all the little bottles and jars.
"It’s too late for a facial mask now. Just wash your face and pat on so toner to rehydrate."
Vera Wave looked at the facial cleanser handed to her. "You even brought facial cleanser to an interview?"
"Of course," Isla Hawskin shot her a sidelong glance. "Let tell you, what’s a makeup bag? A makeup bag is a woman’s arsenal; you have to carry it with you at all tis."
"Aren’t you afraid it’ll go off!" Vera Wave laughed and turned to wash her face.
After Vera Wave washed her face and applied moisturizer, Isla Hawskin took out her own costics and started to apply makeup for her.
"TSK TSK. You, girl, you’re really sothing else! I don’t see you doing much, yet your skin is always so plump, just full of collagen. It’s so supple I could practically pinch water out of it..."
"Don’t make my makeup too heavy."
"Don’t worry, sis knows what she’s doing. I’ll give you a cute, electric-eyed doll look. The mont you flutter those big eyes of yours, you’ll have the interviewer captivated."
"What if the interviewer is a woman?"
"Uh..." Isla Hawskin faltered. "Then you’ll just have to pray for your own luck. Won... they tend to be very jealous. The mont they see how pretty you are, they’ll definitely fail you!"
The two girls joked around while they finished up the makeup, and then they left the restroom together.
Isla Hawskin walked with her to the elevator. "Go straight to the 22nd floor; that’s the Design Departnt."
"And what about you?"
"I’ve already finished my interview; I start work tomorrow. I’m in the Administration Departnt on the 30th floor. I was just waiting for you, or I would’ve left much earlier."
Vera Wave said gratefully, "Isla, thank you so much!"
"Oh, what’s there to thank for? I called you here for a reason, you know. I heard the heir to Grytt is back and is about to take over the entire Grytt Company. I brought you here to increase our chances." Isla Hawskin batted her big eyes, her face full of longing. "It doesn’t matter which one of us manages to snag this heir. Then we just need to find one of his rich, handso friends. For the rest of our lives, we can go to spas, travel, and live the good life!"
Isla Hawskin had always made it her mission to marry into wealth, a fact Vera Wave was long accustod to.
"You should be the one to go for it. I don’t stand a chance; the tech field is full of nerds."
"That’s not necessarily true," Isla Hawskin said, giving her a look. "Do you know who the forr CTO of Skywalker Company was? The legendary Christopher Cooper, founder of this very Skywalk gaming company! He ca from a tech background too. So..." She patted Vera Wave’s shoulder encouragingly. "Now you see why I asked you to co, right? Like father, like son, as the old saying goes. I heard this heir also has dual master’s degrees in engineering and managent. With one of us in administration and the other in tech, we cover all the bases!"
"Then you’d better start praying I get a male interviewer..." Vera Wave fluttered her mascara-coated lashes, making her large eyes look even denser and more alluring. "I’ll definitely take him down with my ’electric eyes’!"
