With that, Dr. Winson Sumrton took a card from his pocket and handed it to her. "This is my number. You can ask anything at any ti. I won’t charge you, but I also hope you can briefly inform about any progress in your condition. As you know, I am not just a doctor but also a scholar. I hope to discover sothing new in psychology and mory studies through your case. Of course, only if you are willing."
This accomplished professor showed no trace of arrogance one might expect. Instead, he was as gentle and gracious as an elder, which deepened Vera’s trust in him.
"Alright." She accepted the card. "Thank you so much for your help."
"Then can we continue our conversation?" Dr. Winson Sumrton asked with a smile.
"Of course," Vera replied with a laugh.
She desperately wanted her mories back. If Winson could provide so help, if he really could aid her recovery, of course she would be more than happy to accept. After all, he was an expert in the field.
In the study, the two continued their chat.
In the guest room across, where refreshnts had been laid out, Nathan Leafcastle smiled as he invited Dr. Winson Sumrton’s assistant to have so tea, just as Vera’s cell phone, tucked in her bag, began to ring.
Glancing at Vera’s bag, Nathan Leafcastle then looked towards the study opposite. "Can I interrupt them?"
The assistant appeared hesitant. "Dr. Sumrton doesn’t appreciate any interruption when he’s in a discussion with his patient."
Nathan Leafcastle nodded.
The phone stopped ringing for a mont before starting again.
Nathan Leafcastle furrowed his eyebrows, reached into Vera’s jacket, and took out her cell phone. Seeing the caller ID "Top Deal," he raised a puzzled eyebrow and then hung up.
A few seconds later, the phone rang again. It was still "Top Deal."
After a slight hesitation, he answered the call.
"Hello, I’m sorry, but Vera cannot answer the phone right now. If you need sothing, she will call you back in a mont!"
On the other end was a deep male voice. "Is this Nathan Leafcastle?"
At this mont, Nathan Leafcastle also recognized the voice. "Sir, are you Mr. Cooper?"
"Where is Vera?" Kris Cooper’s voice was tinged with anger. "Let her answer the phone."
"She is receiving treatnt from Dr. Sumrton and can’t answer the phone. I will ask her to call you back in a mont, okay?"
Kris Cooper beca instantly alert. "What kind of treatnt?"
"It’s Vera’s private affair. I can’t tell you," Nathan Leafcastle replied.
"Since it’s her matter, what right do you have to interfere?" Kris Cooper roared through the phone. "Tell right now where she is, or I will call the police and accuse you of kidnapping!"
Nathan Leafcastle took a light breath. "She’s at my place!"
"If anything happens to her, I will not let you off!"
On the other end of the phone, Kris Cooper, who had been waiting at their usual spot, roared into the receiver. He quickly tucked his phone into his pocket, slamd his foot on the accelerator, and his sports car’s engine thundered as it shot onto the expressway, racing towards Nathan Leafcastle’s house.
The car barreled through a red light. Hands gripping the steering wheel tightly, he narrowly dodged a car swerving towards him. Kris Cooper’s handso eyebrows knitted into a deep scowl.
Vera, please... don’t rember. Please, just don’t!
The car sped along until it reached the gates of Nathan Leafcastle’s villa. The security guard didn’t open the gate since his car didn’t have a pass.
