"This treatnt thod doesn’t cause any harm to the brain. If Miss Vera is willing to try, I personally would be very pleased." Dr. Winson Sumrton stared at Vera Wave, his blue eyes behind his glasses filled with eagerness.
He had dedicated his entire life to the study of psychology, focusing on mory. As a doctor and a scholar, encountering a unique case naturally excited him.
Therefore, Dr. Sumrton was extrely interested in Vera’s condition.
"This..." Vera was slightly apprehensive.
Everyone wishes to be whole, and she was no exception. She, too, hoped to have complete mories. She had previously tried various treatnts, including dication and hypnosis, but none had proven effective. A strange doctor, a strange environnt... She didn’t feel a strong sense of security.
"Vera, Dr. Sumrton is an authoritative expert in this field. His works are acclaid as the most practical handbooks in psychology. This opportunity is truly rare!" Nathan Leafcastle turned around, placed his hand on her shoulder, his tone full of encouragent. "I assure you, everything will be fine."
"Miss Vera." Dr. Sumrton began with a smile, "I understand that you may not know well, and thus, may not trust entirely. That’s understandable. If you’re not ready, we can try again next ti. For today, let’s just chat."
With that, he turned to Nathan Leafcastle.
"Mr. Leafcastle, might I borrow your study to speak privately with Miss Vera?"
"Of course." Nathan stood up and reassuringly patted Vera’s shoulder. "Relax. Dr. Sumrton is just going to chat with you. I’ll be right outside. If you want to stop at any point, you can."
Vera nodded and walked with Dr. Sumrton to the Study Room opposite them.
Dr. Sumrton invited her to take a seat on the sofa, and he sat on the one opposite her.
"Regarding the past, do you have no mory at all?"
"Not entirely. Occasionally, images flash through my mind. I used to think they were hallucinations, but then a doctor told they might be my mories."
Dr. Sumrton nodded. "I agree with his opinion. So, what are these images mostly about? Your childhood? Your school years? Or perhaps a different ti?"
"They’re about..." Vera pursed her lips, "a man."
"Was he your lover?"
Vera was taken aback.
Lover? Every ti those images flashed through her mind, they were of very intimate monts. She hadn’t thought much about it before. However, Dr. Sumrton’s prompting made her realize he was right. The man in her mories was always very close to her. Could he have been her forr lover?
"Actually, our brains are highly influenced by emotions. Events that leave a deep impression usually carry strong emotional connotations." Dr. Sumrton said gently as he looked at her, "People have a natural self-preservation instinct; they’re often reluctant to open up completely to others. I understand that very well. However, I can offer so advice that might help you recover your mories."
Vera looked at him with curiosity. "You an..."
"Think about when those illusions appear most frequently. Deliberately recreate those scenes. Repeatedly stimulate those mories—I believe it will definitely be effective."
