"Grandma." Vera Wave pressed her lips together, "Before, was I and Nathan... close?"
Before, she didn’t care much about Nathan Leafcastle. After all, losing her past mories made Nathan Leafcastle a stranger to her.
But this ti, with Nathan Leafcastle suddenly back and so attentive to her, she couldn’t help but feel curious.
"You used to bully him every day, he pampered you since you were small, carrying you out to play and bringing you back ho on his back."
Grandma Wave talked about the usual things she’d heard before, mostly about how Nathan Leafcastle spoiled her, how Uncle Leaf planned to keep her as a child bride or sothing like that.
"So, did I and... Brother Nathan ever date?"
Grandma Wave laughed, "Aren’t you dating Kris Cooper?"
"I an, when I was little, before..."
"I think Kris is a good kid..." Grandma Wave ignored her, continuing her own line of thought, "By the way, Vera, when is Kendrick coming back?"
Realizing Grandma had slipped back into her old habits, Vera just shook her head, knowing she wouldn’t get much information from her.
Madam Li brought over water and dication, and Vera attended to the elderly lady, when her phone’s cute notification tone sounded from her pocket.
"Master, your servant is low on battery, please charge !"
Hearing Grandma Wave ntion Kendrick, Vera was struck by a thought.
Kendrick was their family’s old servant and had been with them for many years, so he might know sothing about her situation.
After helping the elderly lady lie back on the pillow, Vera instructed Madam Li, then went to her bedroom and plugged in her phone, imdiately dialing Kendrick’s number.
After all, it was the United States on the other end, over a ten-hour ti difference, making it dayti there, just perfect.
Soon, the call connected, and hearing Kendrick’s voice, Vera briefly explained the situation to him.
Learning she’d moved back to the old house and Grandma Wave had been discharged from the hospital, Kendrick was equally happy.
"That’s great... that’s really great, you’ve had a tough ti, Miss."
"Kendrick." Vera pressed her lips, "I wanted to ask, before, I an before my car accident, did I ever date anyone?"
Kendrick hesitated, "Why are you suddenly asking this?"
"I just wanted to co up with sothing and ask, could you tell about it?" Vera feigned a casual tone, "Did I and Brother Nathan ever date during that ti?"
"That’s impossible!" Kendrick imdiately dismissed the idea, "When Young Master Leaf left for abroad, you were still very young, how could you date?"
"Then... anyone else?"
"Anyone else?" Kendrick pondered for a mont, "I don’t think so, unless it was during your ti in the U.S., which I wouldn’t know about, as I was mostly in the country, and it was other servants taking care of you there."
"I... I was in the U.S.?"
"Yes, before the accident, you studied abroad in the U.S. Later, due to the car accident, Sir was worried and didn’t send you back."
"What about the servants at that ti?"
"They were let go long ago."
Vera chatted a bit more with Kendrick before hanging up the phone.
Given how long ago it was, finding the servants from that ti was certainly impossible.
From Kendrick’s account, when Nathan Leafcastle left, she was only thirteen or fourteen, so anyone romantically involved with her back then wasn’t Nathan Leafcastle.
