"Competition?" Bailey Hansen asked, taking the juice handed to her. "Does our company have such a rule?"
Kate Palr handed the other glass of juice to Vera Wave. "The thing is," she explained, "I initially decided to promote Vera to the manager’s position. However, so employees raised objections, so Vera proactively suggested the PK thod."
"So that’s how it is!" Bailey Hansen’s admiration for her grew. "Do you think you can win?"
Vera Wave smiled. "Do your best and leave the rest to fate!"
Just as she finished speaking, her phone vibrated in her pocket. She pulled it out, saw the na "Ace" on the screen, and imdiately hung up. She was currently discussing work with "senior managent"; answering a personal call right then would have been inappropriate. No big deal, I’ll just call him back later.
Less than a minute later, Kris Cooper’s call ca through again. If I don’t answer this ti, that kid will probably get angry.
Vera Wave stood up. "Excuse , Director Bailey, Director Kate. I need to take a call outside."
Bailey Hansen smiled gently. "That’s alright, go ahead!"
Nodding at them, Vera Wave got up and walked to the corridor to answer Kris Cooper’s call.
"Is your arm okay?"
"It’s fine! I was just talking with senior executives, so it wasn’t convenient to answer the phone. Don’t be mad, honey!"
"What senior executives?"
"Director Bailey. I don’t exactly know what her specific position is."
Director Bailey?
Kris Cooper’s voice on the other end of the line imdiately tensed. "Is it a man or a woman? What do they look like?"
Throughout all of Ashton, aside from his own mother, he truly couldn’t recall any other senior figure nad Bailey.
"She’s a woman, looks to be in her thirties. She’s pretty and quite sophisticated."
"What did she say to you?"
"Nothing much. She just asked about my situation and ntioned that she wants to create a proposal for her film."
"Alright, go back to your work then."
Vera Wave hung up and returned to the office, taking her seat again. "I apologize for keeping you waiting. May I ask what genre the film is? And is it produced by our company?"
"It’s produced by Glimr and adapted from a ga."
"Oh, I know! It must be ’Realm of Miracles,’ right? I played that ga before but stopped because I didn’t have the ti anymore."
"Really?" Bailey Hansen was surprised that her prospective daughter-in-law had played a ga she herself had planned. "What’s your opinion on it?"
Vera Wave thought seriously for a mont. "Unlike other gas that are just about boring quests, its adventure quests and similar features were quite interesting. Playing it felt very real."
Listening to her assessnt, Bailey Hansen nodded, increasingly impressed.
"So, what are your thoughts on this movie?"
"I’ve been following it. The actors are a great fit for the ga characters. Moreover, our company has invested a significant amount of capital into its production. I believe it will cause a huge sensation once it’s released..."
Before Vera Wave could finish, there was a knock on the door. Kate Palr signaled for the person outside to co in.
As the office door was pushed open, Kris Cooper walked in.
Vera Wave was sitting with her back to the door, while Bailey Hansen and Kate Palr were seated diagonally across from her. Thus, the first to see him were not Vera Wave, but Bailey Hansen and Kate Palr.
When his gaze t his mother’s, who had looked up, Kris Cooper frowned and shot her a reproachful look.
Bailey Hansen leaned back against the sofa, unfazed, and simply rolled her eyes back at him.
Kate Palr rose with a smile. "Mr. President, you’re here!"
