Kris Cooper hung up the phone, placed his cell phone on the desk, then raised his fingers to gently pinch the bridge of his nose.
After typing the last line of code onto the screen, he sent the completed code to the company’s technical departnt. He then stood up and took the fax from Singapore, which had just arrived, out of the drawer.
He walked to the window and gazed into the distance for a mont to rest his eyes. Then he looked down at the fax in his hand.
The expression on his face beca grave as he read it.
The fax detailed all the information about Liliana Davis.
The first part wasn’t particularly special, detailing the perseverance of a single mother. She was a divorced woman with a child who relentlessly struggled, doing everything she could, to work her way up to a ministerial position. It was a truly inspiring story.
The latter part was about her past, including a ntion of her ex-husband, Brandy Leafcastle.
Originally, the Leafcastles were also wealthy, and Brandy was a child of a well-to-do family.
The couple had remained deeply in love until Nathan Leafcastle turned eighteen. They divorced only then, due to Brandy’s extramarital affair. Shortly after their divorce, Brandy’s company declared bankruptcy. Brandy’s father, Mr. Leafcastle, unable to bear the shock, died of a heart attack. Brandy himself was sentenced to prison for illegal accumulation of wealth and later committed suicide there.
"Brandy Leafcastle?!"
Kris Cooper muttered Nathan Leafcastle’s father’s na to himself.
As clearly indicated in the materials, the Wave and Leafcastle families were both prominent, and Walter Wave and Brandy Leafcastle could be said to have grown up together.
Vera Wave had previously ntioned Nathan Leafcastle to him; the Wave and Leafcastle families should have a deep friendship.

Kris Cooper closed the docunts and stared out of the window at the city, lost in thought.
The phone on the desk started to ring.
He walked over and pressed the answer button.
"Mr. CEO, the code has been tested and there are no issues."
"Alright!" Kris Cooper replied. He put the docunts back in the drawer and casually picked up his car keys from the table. "If anything else cos up, call my mobile."
After giving this instruction to his subordinate on the other end of the phone, he strode out of his office.
Vera’s identity had been exposed. In the upcoming days, she would undoubtedly be besieged by journalists. He did not want her to face those malicious people.
After giving instructions to Tommy Taylor, Kris Cooper went downstairs, got in his car, and drove directly to the Ashton Building.
He drove his car into the underground parking lot and casually walked towards the elevator. After only a few steps, his peripheral vision caught a figure.
He turned his head and saw a familiar figure stepping out of a nearby car.
It was none other than Nathan Leafcastle.
Seeing him, Kris Cooper raised an eyebrow and halted his steps.
At this mont, Nathan Leafcastle also noticed him, took a breath, and stopped a few steps away from Kris Cooper.
"I am here to see Vera."
Kris Cooper waved the car keys in his hand.
"Nathan Leafcastle, I really can’t figure out what you’re thinking."
"I have sothing important to discuss with Vera," Nathan Leafcastle replied.
