Ria Chapman’s condition wasn’t too severe; she had so scratches on her face and body, a few cuts on her arm, and a minor concussion.
After the onlookers animatedly described what happened, Craig Chapman and his wife imdiately ca to thank Vera Wave.
Vera smiled. "Please, don’t ntion it. You two are major shareholders in Glimr; we’re all family here, so there’s no need for such formalities! As for Ria... she’s all right, isn’t she?"
Of course, she also knew what to say publicly.
Vera had been worried about Ria’s condition. Hearing from them that it wasn’t too serious, she finally sighed in relief.
After all, Ria had been racing against her. If anything serious had happened, both Kris Cooper and she would have found it difficult to explain.
Craig Chapman quickly laughed and said, "She just has so superficial wounds on her arm, nothing affecting tendons or bones. This was truly a blessing in disguise! If you hadn’t intervened, who knows what might have happened!"
They had already heard from the Manager about the incident. If Vera hadn’t stepped in, Ria would likely have been killed or severely injured.
They had dedicated their lives to raising this one daughter; the thought of her eting with such an accident was unbearable.
Therefore, at this mont, they were profoundly grateful to Vera.
After thanking Vera, Craig Chapman turned to Kris Cooper. "Ah, Kris!" he said. "You truly have a good eye for people, finding a wonderful girl like Vera. When you two get married, I’ll be sure to send a grand gift!"
By now, Kris Cooper naturally knew how to use this situation to win their favor.
"Uncle Craig, you’re too kind. Didn’t Vera just say it? We’re all part of Glimr, so let’s not stand on ceremony! However..." He paused slightly. "Ria is a grown woman now. You two should consider finding her a job, help her settle down. Playing around like this all the ti isn’t a proper way to live!"
His words carried a clear warning.
Even though he hadn’t yet investigated the specifics of the incident, Kris Cooper understood Vera’s temperant.
She was the type to not bother others unless provoked. If Ria hadn’t initiated trouble, Vera would never have sought a confrontation with her.
Craig Chapman imdiately chuckled. "I know, I know. That girl of mine is just asking for trouble. It must have been her stirring things up again. Once she’s discharged from the hospital, I’ll make sure she gets a good talking-to. Vera, Ria is immature; please don’t hold it against her."
Vera gave a perfunctory nod.
Noticing Kris Cooper’s expression, Mrs. Chapman said, "Well then... let’s allow Vera to rest. We’ll co back later."
"Yes, yes, get so good rest. Once Ria is feeling a bit better, I’ll have her co and offer you a sincere apology."
The couple expressed their thanks a few more tis before exiting the hospital ward.
Just then, Kris Cooper received a phone call. He asked Tommy to look after Vera and stepped outside to take the call.
No sooner had Kris Cooper left than Irene Spencer walked in with her Assistant.
"Vera, are your injuries serious?"
Vera ignored her, leaning back against the pillow and turning her gaze inward.
"I’m tired. I want to sleep!"
Last ti she made a drunken scene trying to steal my husband, and now she’s here trying to curry favor? I don’t even need to guess to know she’s up to no good. I’m certainly not giving her the chance.
Irene Spencer pressed her lips together. "Then... rest well. I’ll co to see you tomorrow."
Vera continued to ignore her. Tommy nodded politely.
"Take care, Miss Spencer."
Swallowing her anger, Irene Spencer turned and walked towards the door.
Behind her, Vera’s voice sounded again.
"Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. Kris’s ring? It was bought for . We t six years ago, much earlier than you did!"
