Extending both hands to gently envelop hers, he was careful not to hurt her wounded hand.
"All I want is for you to be with , just as we agreed: to live together, to raise a child together, watch them grow up, and grow old together... Whatever you’ve been through, it doesn’t matter to ," he said.
Vera blinked. "You...don’t want to know?"
"Of course not, I just..." He gritted his teeth discreetly, and a comforting smile reappeared on his face. "Vera, promise , forget those unpleasant tis, okay?"
"Do you know what happened to ?"
"I... I’m guessing," he admitted.
Staring at Kris Cooper’s grave expression, Vera was stunned for a mont before a soft giggle escaped her.
"Nope."
Kris Cooper looked puzzled.
"No...what?"
"They didn’t get their hands on ." She began to smile. "Rember that little stun gun you gave ? It worked pretty well."
Because he was often busy with work and couldn’t always be by her side, he had bought her a small self-defense device after hearing about robberies near where she lived. To ensure she wouldn’t forget to carry it, he had even attached a chain to hang it on her favorite backpack. Despite being smart, Vera was a bit scatterbrained and had even forgotten to remove it during a flight security check, but she had gotten through security anyway. When she woke up, she was tied hand and foot in an old, dilapidated house slated for demolition. Three n in black hoods surrounded her, their eyes lustful and their mouths spewing vulgarities. She first pleaded for rcy, then scread for help, but it was all to no avail. The n not only groped her but also took out their phones to record her.
Thinking quickly, she rembered the thod Kris Cooper had taught her and decided to try and negotiate with them.
"If you let go, I can give you money. I have a lot of money; you can buy whatever you want! If you don’t believe ... look at my wallet. I have a lot of cash in it, and cards. I can take you to withdraw money."
The three n were initially skeptical, but after inspecting her bag and seeing the considerable amount of cash, they began to waver.

At this point in her story, Vera paused.
"Then, one of them started to untie . But as soon as the ropes were loose, another one regretted it, saying he was afraid I would try to trick them. Then they said they wanted to... film my ****, and then I didn’t dare disobey!"

While one man took out his phone, the other two moved to undress her. Seeing this, Vera could no longer remain calm. She shoved one of them away, grabbed her bag, and tried to escape.
