Kris Cooper was earnestly examining Liliana Davis’s statent. In it, she admitted to having visited Wave Tower, seeing Walter Wave, and consoling him a few tis before leaving the premises.
"Isn’t she a suspect?" Kris Cooper asked.
"According to the information from the autopsy and other sources, Walter Wave committed suicide at approximately 11:25 p.m. She had already left Wave Tower by 11:20 p.m., so she couldn’t possibly be a suspect."
Kris Cooper furrowed his brow. "The statent doesn’t seem to specify what they discussed when they t."
"At that ti, Ms. Davis only said she couldn’t recall clearly, just that she’d offered so words of comfort, nothing of substance," Michael Freenan said with a shrug. "That’s why it wasn’t recorded in the statent."
"But..." Kris Cooper lightly tapped the dossier beneath his fingertips. "Don’t you find this odd? If she was consoling a friend, why would Walter take his own life after her consolation? And if Liliana Davis and Walter truly had a good relationship, why did she leave so hastily at five in the morning the next day? After a friend commits suicide, shouldn’t she visit or stay behind to help with the arrangents?"
"Well..." Michael Freenan spread his hands. "Regarding the points you raised, I did ask her about them. She said she had to rush back to Singapore due to work commitnts. When we investigate cases, we rely on proof. Theoretically, she didn’t have the ti to commit the cri. The surveillance footage and the taxi driver she took that night can both attest to this. Besides, apart from the injuries sustained from the fall, there were no other wounds on the deceased. Therefore, after synthesizing all available information, we concluded it was suicide."
The law relies on proof, not speculation or conjecture. Kris Cooper, of course, understood this point well.
Tommy Taylor answered a call and ca over to remind him about a eting.
Closing the file he had finished reading, Kris Cooper rose from his chair.
"Thank you very much for your help. I have sothing else to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now."
Michael Freenan smiled, shook his hand, and offered him a business card. "If you have any questions, feel free to contact anyti. My phone is on 24/7."
After thanking him again, Kris Cooper left with Tommy Taylor.
On the way back, he sat silently in the back seat of the car.
Although the file showed no indication that Liliana Davis was suspected of murder, this case still held too many questionable points. After Liliana Davis divorced Brandy Leafcastle, she had severed all ties with the Wave Clan. For her to suddenly return to console Walter Wave at this ti seed rather abrupt. Moreover, if she had genuinely returned to comfort an old friend, why hadn’t she even visited Vera Wave? Why did she just see Walter Wave once and then leave?
「Before he knew it, the car had arrived at the City Building Commission.」
This ti, the Commission had convened several leading real estate enterprises for a symposium.
As Kris Cooper entered the conference room, several people were already seated. Upon seeing him, they all stood up to greet him.
As they were exchanging pleasantries, footsteps sounded from outside. "Please, co in!" a staff mber announced, ushering in two people. It was none other than Nathan Leafcastle and his mother, Liliana Davis.
Kris Cooper turned his face. Upon seeing the two, he raised an eyebrow. His gaze imdiately fell on Liliana Davis, a profound intensity filling his amber-colored eyes.
