Tommy Taylor was left with no choice but to hand over the food and other items he had brought to the staff, asking them to deliver them. He then left the prison with Isla Hawskin in the car.
On the way, Isla spoke casually, "Assistant Taylor, are President Cooper and Vera... they’re okay, right?"
Tommy paused slightly. "They should be fine."
"So... he just left Vera in there like that?"
"How could that be possible?" Tommy veered onto the fast lane. "President Cooper has already contacted his good friend, and they’re trying to get dical proof for Vera. Once the diagnostic proof cos out, they’ll work on arranging for her to receive dical treatnt outside the prison."
Isla nodded without asking any further.
It seed that the Cooper family was indeed unaware of Vera’s pregnancy. Vera had repeatedly insisted not to let them know; she surely had her reasons, and Isla couldn’t betray her friend.
After they returned to the city, Isla imdiately found a lawyer for Vera and secretly brought the lawyer to et with her.
Three days later, all the necessary docunts were ready. Vera personally handed these docunts to Director Davis.
"Lucille called a couple of days ago to ntion this; I didn’t expect things to move so fast." Director Davis glanced at her. "Congratulations. The procedures for pregnancy are easier than for dical treatnt outside prison. I’ll get this processed for you as soon as possible, and then you can go ho."
"Thank you," Vera imdiately said. "By the way, Director Davis, could you please not call Aunt Lucille? I... I want to surprise them."
Director Davis didn’t think much of it and agreed with a smile.
Perhaps it was because of Lucille’s prior intervention, or perhaps Vera was just lucky.
The process for serving her sentence outside prison went very smoothly. Two days later, Director Davis ca into her cell with the official notice.
"I’ve completed all your paperwork," Director Davis said. "Rember to register at your local police station and be under their supervision. It’s not convenient to get a ride from here. As it happens, a prison vehicle is going into town to transport so materials, so they can give you a lift."
Vera gratefully accepted the official notice.
Quickly packing her belongings, Vera gave the items Isla Hawskin and Tommy Taylor had brought to her two cellmates. She then glanced at Noah Davis across from her; she ultimately walked over and handed Noah the remaining fruit from her bag.
Anabel Wilton grunted coldly, "You think you can buy with this?"
"If you don’t want to eat them, just throw them away. I don’t mind."
With her small bag slung over her shoulder, Vera didn’t look back as she followed the prison guard out of the cell. She boarded the minibus headed downtown to transport materials and smoothly exited the prison gate.
Leaning by the window, Vera breathed in the warm early sumr breeze coming from afar. She glanced at the receding prison, then reclined on the backrest.
Across the lane, a black rcedes-Benz rushed past and, a mont later, entered the prison gate.
Kris Cooper didn’t wait for his assistant to open the car door; he pushed it open himself and jumped out. He strode into the reception room.
"I want to see Vera!"
Having just returned from the United States after handling his business, he had rushed directly to the prison from the airport, wanting to see her.
"Vera?" A staff mber looked up. "She’s not here."
"Not here?!" Kris Cooper’s brow furrowed. "What do you an?"
"She has applied to serve her sentence outside prison; she’s no longer here." The sa prison guard who had just seen her off happened to be passing by. He checked his watch. "You’re late. She left less than ten minutes ago!"
Goodnight, little ones~!~
