Though Isla Hawskin didn’t understand completely, she knew Vera Wave staying in a hotel wasn’t a long-term solution. She promptly helped her find a landlord and secure a rental.
The next day was the weekend, and Isla Hawskin arrived early in the morning to help her move. The "moving" itself was incredibly simple: Vera Wave’s only luggage was a backpack containing two changes of clothes.
After lunch, Kate Palr called. She explained that the project site in the city’s outskirts wasn’t easily accessible by public transportation and offered to drive over and pick Vera up. Vera Wave didn’t decline Kate’s offer and readily gave her the address.
Half an hour later, as Vera Wave went downstairs, she saw Kate Palr’s car pulling up. Vera bent to get into the backseat and imdiately noticed Bailey Hansen sitting beside her. She wasn’t particularly surprised, just offered a faint smile.
"Mom, you’re here too."
After these past few days, she had grown accustod to calling her "Mom." For a mont, she even forgot to switch back.
Upon hearing "Mom," Bailey Hansen’s tense heart visibly relaxed.
"It’s a significant project for the company, so I ca to take a look."
Everyone was naturally aware of this matter. Bailey Hansen had specifically co to see her daughter-in-law.
As the car drove on, Bailey Hansen and Vera Wave only discussed work. It wasn’t until they reached the villa complex, got out, and Kate Palr went to park the car that Bailey softly broached the subject.
"When will you co back ho to live?"
"Kris hasn’t told you yet?" Vera Wave pursed her lips. "We... are breaking up."
"Is it... because of sothing I did wrong?"
"It’s not your fault. It’s my own."
"Vera." Bailey Hansen turned her face to her. "I know you love Kris more than anyone else, even though I don’t know what exactly happened between you two. But Mom feels that for two people in love, there are no hurdles too high to overco. Why not give him a chance?"
"Mom, please don’t try to persuade . This matter can’t be changed." Vera Wave took a shallow breath. "I’m sorry."
"Then, what about... the child?!"
Vera Wave touched her lower abdon.
"I haven’t decided yet."
"You foolish child!" Bailey Hansen reached out and grasped her shoulder. "You can pretend all you want, but Mom can see right through it. You can’t bear to part with Kris. As long as you’re willing, Mom guarantees she’ll make him co and apologize to you, alright?"
In the distance, a sapphire-blue sports car approached.
Kris Cooper parked the car and rolled down the window.
"Mom, what are you doing here?"
"What do you think I’m doing here?" Bailey Hansen imdiately walked over and gave him a pointed look. "Aren’t you going to apologize to Vera?"
Through his sunglasses, Kris Cooper glanced at Vera Wave, who was standing not far off. "My affairs are none of your business."
With that, the man slamd on the accelerator, and the car sped off into the distance.
"That jerk!" Bailey Hansen cursed. "Don’t worry, Vera. Mom will back you up. I’ll go drag him over here right now."
"Mom!" Vera Wave grabbed her arm. "I know you care about , but you really can’t get involved in this. I need to go to work now."
Without giving Bailey Hansen another chance to speak, Vera Wave turned and walked towards the nearby filming location.
Bailey Hansen stood rooted to the spot, watching her retreating figure and just shaking her head.
These two children, what on earth has happened to them!
Originally, she and Christoper Cooper had been working tirelessly for Vera Wave’s release from prison. When they heard the news of her pregnancy and subsequent release, the couple had been secretly overjoyed.
A new addition to the family and Vera Wave’s successful release from prison—this was a double blessing.
Who would have thought the two of them would put on such a drama?
Why throw away a perfectly good life just to break up?
