Realizing he was a bit out of line, Nathan Leafcastle put down his chopsticks and reached out to cover Sally Dalton’s hand.
"I’m sorry, Sally, I... I didn’t an it, I’m... just a bit tired."
Sally Dalton also put down her chopsticks and looked up at him.
"Nathan, are you... still not over that matter?"
Lowering his gaze, Nathan Leafcastle shook his head gently.
"I know, it’s not easy for you to face Kris Cooper calmly." Placing her left hand on his, Sally Dalton spoke gently, "You’ve been exhausted lately. How about taking a few days off to relax, and leave the engineering issues to , okay?"
As long as he was in charge of the Jade River project, he would inevitably co into contact with Kris Cooper. Kris Cooper was flamboyant, and Sally Dalton was worried Nathan Leafcastle couldn’t handle it.
The reason he endured Kris Cooper and wanted to cooperate was for revenge; at this ti, how could Nathan Leafcastle possibly give up?
"I’m fine, just need a sleep." He casually replied, withdrawing his hand from hers, "Eat your noodles, or they’ll get cold."
Seeing him return to a calm deanor, Sally Dalton decided not to say more.
After finishing their al, they imdiately discussed the details of cooperating with Ashton, and by the ti everything was settled, it was already late at night.
Sally Dalton went to the bedroom first, while Nathan Leafcastle tidied up the docunts on the table, his gaze falling on the drawer. As he reached to open it, he stiffened slightly upon seeing the U-disk.
Sally Dalton pushed the door open and ca in, "I’ve prepared the water for you, go take a good soak and rest for the night; I’ll tidy up here!"
He smiled gently, shutting the drawer firmly, "Then I’ll go shower first."
Walking out of the study room, Sally Dalton gathered the necessary docunts and tidied his desk. As she opened the drawer to put his signing slips in a box, her eyes fell on the U-disk, and she frowned slightly.
Reaching a finger out to pinch the U-disk, she thought about it for a mont and put the U-disk back in its place.
It was sothing Vera Wave gave him, and she shouldn’t look; it would be too unethical.
Suppressing her curiosity, Sally Dalton closed the drawer and left the study room, returning to the bedroom.
As she ca out of the changing room after getting dressed, Nathan Leafcastle had finished showering and erged from the bathroom. She walked over to help him adjust the collar of his bathrobe, casually asking, "What’s in the U-disk that Vera gave you?"
"I haven’t looked yet." Nathan Leafcastle’s tone was very calm, "Not sure if the water has completely dried yet; I’ll check it in a couple of days!"
This, of course, wasn’t his true intention. If possible, he would love to check it imdiately to see what’s inside.
He had a strong urge to first see what was inside and then decide whether to share it with Sally Dalton.
"So... what do you think it might be?" Sally Dalton asked with a smile.
Nathan Leafcastle shrugged, "Who knows, maybe so old photos or sothing!"
Sally Dalton was kind and generous, but she was also a woman. What woman wouldn’t wish her man only cared about her? She was no different.
Though trying hard to appear magnanimous, deep down there was still so uncertainty. In this man’s mind, what exactly was her place now?
Nathan Leafcastle’s deanor didn’t ease her mind; instead, it made her even more puzzled.
