"Sister Sally!" Vera hurriedly reached out to support her, "Be careful!"
Everyone knew that it was impossible to persuade Sally Dalton to lie on the hospital bed at this ti, so nobody tried. Vera held her arm, while Kris Cooper reached over to grab the dicine bottle hanging on the rack.
Tommy Taylor saw this and quickly opened the ward door.
The group walked out of the ward together. A nurse saw them and imdiately trotted over.
"Wait, what are you doing?"
Tommy quickly turned around to et her and quietly explained. The nurse frowned slightly and nodded lightly.
"Please be careful. If she feels uncomfortable at all, bring her back imdiately."
Tommy agreed and chased after them to lead the way.
They went upstairs, through the corridor, and finally reached the ICU Ward where Nathan Leafcastle was.
Through the glass window, he lay on the hospital bed, his face pale, with his eyes tightly shut.
Several tubes were inserted into him, and a few instrunts beside were monitoring his condition. A doctor was briefing a nurse.
A table apart, watching Nathan Leafcastle on the pillow, Sally Dalton cried out again.
The doctor saw the people outside the window and stepped out.
"Doctor, how is he?"
Vera was the first to speak.
"Are you the patient’s family?" the doctor asked.
"We’re his...friends."
"Then you need to notify his family imdiately," the doctor said.
"I...I am!" Sally Dalton wiped her face with her hand, slightly controlling her emotions, "I’m his fiancée. How is he now?"
"His rib was pierced, just half a centiter away from puncturing the lung, but it injured a rather large main blood vessel, causing significant blood loss." The doctor paused slightly, turned to glance at Nathan Leafcastle in the ward, his brows slightly furrowed, "He hasn’t passed the critical period yet, you...need to be ntally prepared."
Sally Dalton swayed, thankfully Vera was holding her, preventing her from falling.
"Doctor, can I go in and see him?"
"But..." The doctor looked at the dicine bottle in Kris Cooper’s hand, "Your current condition?!"
"I’m fine, it’s just glucose!" Sally Dalton glanced at her own hand and suddenly reached over, pulling out the needle, "See, it’s okay!"
"Sister Sally!"
Vera hurriedly grabbed her hand, pressing on the wound, "Tommy, quickly call the nurse!"
The doctor quickly returned to the ward and took out a cotton ball to press on Sally Dalton’s wound, whom in turn grabbed his arm.
"Just let stay with him, I beg you..."
The girl’s eyes were filled with tears, her face full of pleading.
"Doctor, please let her in?" Vera also plead from the side.
"Alright!" The doctor frowned but agreed, imdiately waving to a nurse who walked over, "Bring her a set of sterile clothing."
The nurse brought the sterile clothing, put it on Sally Dalton, and as soon as she was ready, she couldn’t wait to walk into the ward. She opened the door as lightly as possible.
As if she was afraid of waking him up.
She tiptoed to the bedside, carefully extended her fingers, held Nathan Leafcastle’s hand, her eyelashes trembled, and tears rolled down again.
Through the glass, watching this scene, Vera’s eyes reddened again.
A warm hand reached over, wrapped around her shoulder, Kris Cooper gently squeezed her shoulder.
"Hang in there, Vera!"
She gently nodded.
