Vera nodded in her mother’s arms, "Mom... I know."
While Bailey comforted Vera, Christoper Cooper turned his face toward the nearby ICU Ward, "How’s he doing?"
"He’s still not out of the dangerous period," Kris Cooper answered in a low voice.
Just as the words were spoken, hurried footsteps echoed again in the corridor. Soon, a middle-aged man hurried in with his assistant. It was none other than Sally’s father, Bernardy Dalton.
He walked with a tense face up to the ICU Ward, stood by the glass window, and gazed at his daughter inside and Nathan Leafcastle lying on the bed. Bernardy Dalton let out a long sigh.
"This is really tragic!"

Ti ticked by minute by minute, and before long, it was already dusk. The nurse ca out of the ward again and shook her head at Bernardy Dalton.
Worried about his daughter, Bernardy Dalton had food brought in several tis, but Sally just sat by the bed, without even glancing at the food, her eyes fixed on Nathan Leafcastle, like a statue.
Beside her, Vera wasn’t feeling much better.
The doctor rushed in repeatedly to check Nathan Leafcastle’s condition, his frown growing deeper each ti.
More than half the day had passed, and Nathan Leafcastle showed no signs of waking up. If more ti passed beyond the golden twelve hours, the chances of him waking up would be extrely slim.
When the doctor ca out again, Vera stood up and stopped him.
"Doctor, could you let go in and try to talk to her?"
Several hours had passed without any food or water; if this continued, Sally wouldn’t last either.
The doctor sighed and nodded gently.
Seeing this, Bernardy Dalton imdiately stepped forward and held Vera’s arm.
"Miss Yi, you must really try to persuade her, even just to drink a cup of water."
"Don’t worry, I’ll do my best."
Vera pushed open the ward door and carefully walked inside. She went over to Sally’s side and reached out to hold her shoulder.
"Sister Sally."
Sally kept her previous posture without moving, and she spoke softly.

Sally reached out for the cup, and a tear dropped into it, breaking the water’s surface. Vera lifted Sally’s hand, guiding the cup to her lips.
Sally took small sips, then turned to look at Nathan Leafcastle.
"Vera, do you think he’ll wake up?"
Vera took the cup from Sally’s hand, turned her face, and gazed at Nathan Leafcastle on the pillow, "Before Brother Nathan lost consciousness, he told Kris to relay a ssage to you."
Sally turned her face, puzzled, "What... what did he say?"
Vera took a deep breath, "He said... he asked Kris to apologize to you on his behalf."
