"Stop crying, or I’ll get jealous!"

At this mont, it was already the second day of Nathan Leafcastle’s coma.

Knowing she was worried about Nathan Leafcastle, Kris Cooper brought her over to visit early in the morning.

Last night, they had heard about Nathan Leafcastle from Tommy Taylor. Both of them were quite moved, and now, seeing Nathan Leafcastle finally awake, the stone in their hearts was finally set down.

The phone in his pocket vibrated. Kris Cooper gently stroked Vera Wave’s hair and answered the call.

"Kris, it’s ." On the other end was the voice of Lucille Matthias. "We found a body in the rubble. If you’re available, could you co over and identify it?"

"Alright, I’ll be there shortly." Kris Cooper put away his phone and glanced at the hospital bed. "I’ll speak with the doctor. Do you want to go in and see him?"

Vera Wave took a deep breath, gazing through the window at Sally Dalton and Nathan Leafcastle inside, and shook her head gently.

"No need."

At this mont, she didn’t want to disturb them.

Kris Cooper lifted his hand to straighten her hair. "Let’s go to Lucille’s place first and co back to see him later, okay?"

"Okay," Vera Wave responded softly.

Then Kris Cooper bid farewell to Bernardy Dalton and, with Vera Wave and Tommy Taylor, left the hospital, letting Tommy return to rest while he took Vera to the Funeral Hall.

As the car arrived at the Funeral Hall, Kris Cooper instructed the driver to stop and took Vera Wave’s hand.

"Wait in the car, I’ll go in and take a look."

Vera Wave nodded lightly. He opened the car door and walked into the Funeral Hall.

Lucille Matthias was on the phone in the lobby. Seeing him, she imdiately ca over and led him towards the morgue.

"We’re extracting DNA for identification..." She stopped to look at Kris Cooper. "The body is quite badly burned. Are you sure you want to see it?"

Kris Cooper spoke in a low voice, "I do."

Irene Spencer had done many evil deeds, and he wouldn’t be at ease until he saw her body with his own eyes.

"Alright then!" Lucille Matthias walked to the morgue door and pushed it open.

Inside, a forensic doctor was preparing for an autopsy. On the autopsy table lay a charred body. The clothes and skin on the upper half were burnt beyond recognition, while the lower half was relatively intact. The left hand was deford by burns, and the right hand was curled as if trying to grasp sothing.

The hair was completely scorched, and the once beautiful face was now blackened and burnt. Even though Kris Cooper was sowhat prepared to see Irene Spencer like this, he still felt a wave of nausea.

Turning his face to the side and coughing, he nodded slightly.

"It should be her!"

"Alright, we’ll conduct further identification." Lucille Matthias led him out the door. "How’s Grandma Wave?"

"She’s fine. Last night she ate well and slept well. When I asked her this morning, she’d already forgotten about yesterday’s events." Kris Cooper shook his head. "In this case, forgetfulness isn’t a bad thing."

"That’s true!" Lucille Matthias nodded. "As the saying goes, ’Ignorance is bliss.’ Since she’s forgotten, don’t disturb her anymore. You and Vera can co with to give a statent. By the way, how’s Nathan Leafcastle?"

"We just ca from the hospital. He’s awake now, just needs to recuperate slowly."

Lucille Matthias nodded. "Good. I’ll visit the hospital later. When he’s stronger, we’ll help him give a statent. Now, let’s head to the police station!"
