Chapter 619: Visit

More than ten years later.

Jie Ming stood in the center of the laboratory, facing a gelatinous creature the size of a swimming pool.

It was semi-transparent throughout, emitting a faint blue glow. Its surface constantly writhed, like a living mass of jelly.

This was Jie Ming’s cannon fodder unit for naval battles—the “Nest.”

Clearly, Jie Ming was no longer satisfied with the temporary modifications he had made to the Nest before and was once again performing a transformation surgery.

The surgery had already lasted seven days and had reached the most critical mont.

Jie Ming’s hand hovered above the mass of gel. His spiritual power transford into countless fine threads that probed into its body, ticulously weaving new energy circuits.

At this mont, the laboratory door was suddenly pushed open.

Yet even facing the abruptly opened door, Jie Ming did not even raise his head.

“Senior Sister? You’re here? Wait a mont, I’ll be done soon.”

His tone was as calm as if he were comnting on the nice weather today. His hands did not pause, and his spiritual power continued to steadily control the semi-transparent gelatinous creature.

Viola stood at the doorway, her expression sowhat subtle.

She had already prepared her greeting, but Jie Ming’s attitude of “I knew you were coming” caused all her prepared words to get stuck in her throat.

She walked into the laboratory, her gaze sweeping over the creature undergoing transformation, then over the neatly stacked docunts in the corner, and finally landing on Jie Ming.

“You don’t seem surprised at all.”

Jie Ming casually replied, “After all, you just submitted an application for spatial teleportation.”

Viola did not answer. Her expression grew even stranger.

Jie Ming did not notice her expression. All his attention remained focused on the surgery at hand.

Ti passed minute by minute. When the final energy circuit was successfully connected, the gelatinous creature trembled violently. The blue light on its surface stabilized, pulsing rhythmically like a sleeping heart beginning to beat.

Jie Ming let out a long breath, withdrew his hand, and turned to look at Viola.

“So… Senior Sister, what brings you here?”

Viola’s expression remained strange.

She walked up to Jie Ming and looked him up and down, as if examining so rare specin. “I arrived a little too smoothly.”

Jie Ming was stunned. “What do you an?”

“The spatial teleportation application—I submitted it and it was approved imdiately.” Viola’s tone carried a trace of disbelief. “It was as if they had been waiting for the whole ti. After teleporting over, the mont I stepped out of the teleportation room, a black giant walked in and told you were here. It didn’t even ask who I was looking for.”

Jie Ming blinked. The corners of his mouth curved into a barely noticeable arc. “Isn’t that a good thing? Saves you the trouble of searching everywhere.”

Viola stared at him for several seconds without replying.

Jie Ming’s gaze drifted slightly as he changed the subject. “You still haven’t said why you ca. Have you finished handling matters on ntor’s side?”

“Not yet…” Viola shook her head at the ntion. “You rember Starfall’s living plane, right?”

Jie Ming nodded. “I rember. What about it?”

“It has completed the wizard apprentice curriculum and advanced to formal wizard.” Viola’s tone carried a hint of complexity. “It is now participating in a planar war according to the contract. ntor went with Starfall to record the relevant data.”

Jie Ming nodded in understanding, then his expression turned sowhat strange.

Starfall… that female wizard who had been inspired by his spiritual qi to create the Spirit Enlightennt Art and had successfully animated the plane under her control.

Calculating the ti, it had been nearly a thousand years since her living plane had successfully gained life.

After spending such a long ti, the plane’s consciousness had finally developed from its initial ignorance to full maturity.

However, by the standards of living planes, this speed was already quite fast.

But the key point was not here.

A living plane was a powerful being capable of suppressing ordinary seventh-rank wizards from birth.

Even if its wizard rank was only first-rank, relying on the output multiplier brought by knowledge, it probably ranked among the more formidable existences even among seventh-rank wizards.

A being of this level participating in a planar war specifically intended for new wizards…

“I hope the other side is fine,” Jie Ming said sincerely.

Viola rolled her eyes and did not respond.

Jie Ming understood. “So you’re basically free for the ti being?”

Viola spread her hands. “Yes, I ran out to have so fun.”

She paced around the laboratory, looking here and there, appearing thoroughly bored.

Jie Ming watched her wandering back and forth in front of him and could not help saying, “There’s really nothing fun here for you.”

Viola did not answer.

She continued pacing, her steps growing faster and her brows furrowing tighter.

Jie Ming noticed her abnormality and was about to ask when Viola suddenly stopped. Her expression changed drastically.

“My fate line was touched.”

Jie Ming’s eyebrows rose.

Viola whipped her head around, her gaze shooting toward him like a blade. Shock nearly overflowed from her eyes. “It was you?!”

Looking at her ghostly expression, Jie Ming could not help feeling a bit pleased.

He tried hard to keep his face calm and nodded with reserved dignity.

“That’s right. A few years ago, I finally gained entry into fate-type knowledge.”

The laboratory fell silent for a mont.

Viola’s mouth hung open like a fish slapped onto the shore, unable to utter a single word.

Seeing her like this, Jie Ming’s sense of satisfaction grew even stronger, but his face maintained a serene smile.

He had practiced for several years just for this mont!

Ever since purchasing fate-type knowledge, he had studied it for centuries.

Even after returning from the Information Plane, he had never given up gnawing on this hard bone.

The knowledge from the Fate Subsystem, materials from the parallel world, occasional guidance from ntor Clark…

To gain entry into fate-type knowledge, he had learned and tried everything.

But fate-type knowledge required comprehension. Without it, one simply could not enter.

There was a period when Jie Ming had almost given up.

Then he advanced to the Void Refinent Realm.

The essence of the Void Refinent Realm was the transformation of the life form toward an information-based being.

In this realm, he had not yet fully experienced the other benefits and drawbacks, but one thing was particularly clear to him: his understanding of information-type knowledge had skyrocketed.

Information was the underlying language of fate. Understanding information ant touching the threshold of fate.

A few years ago, on an ordinary night, he was flipping through fate-type materials as usual. As he read, he suddenly understood.

Things he had long known but never comprehended suddenly made sense.

It was like looking at the world through frosted glass for a long ti, and then soone suddenly removed that glass.

“You’ve only just reached fifth-rank!” Viola’s voice even changed pitch.

Jie Ming replied unhurriedly, “It’s not exactly ‘just.’ It’s been seven or eight hundred years since I advanced to fifth-rank.”

Viola grabbed her long silver-gray hair with both hands, tugging at it without caring about her image. Her eyes widened like saucers. “The old man only gained entry after advancing to sixth-rank! How did you manage it at fifth-rank?!”

Seeing her frantic appearance, Jie Ming finally could not hold back. The corners of his mouth curved upward.

He tried hard to press it down, but he couldn’t.

That thread of satisfaction spread from the corners of his mouth to the corners of his eyes, and from the corners of his eyes across his entire face.

Seeing his “smug yet trying to act reserved” expression, Viola trembled with anger.

“You…”

She pounced on him.

Before Jie Ming could react, he felt his head being firmly gripped by two hands, and then… a bite landed!

What seed like an ordinary bite caused pain to explode from the top of his head, shooting through his entire body like an electric current.

Jie Ming let out a miserable cry. The Body Forging Art activated automatically, attempting to resist the pain, but it had no effect.

The pain penetrated all defenses and acted directly on his nerve endings.

“Waaaah… it hurts! It hurts so much! Let go!” Jie Ming ran around the laboratory with Viola hanging from his head.

Viola was like a frenzied cat, biting his head tightly while her legs kicked wildly in the air.

The “Nest” that had just undergone surgery shrank into a ball in fright. The stacked docunts in the corner toppled over with a clatter.

“Let go!”

“Wuuu!” (No!)

“Senior Sister, I was wrong!”

“Wuuu!” (Too late!)

After running more than a dozen laps, Jie Ming finally found an opportunity to grab Viola’s waist and pull hard.

With a “pop,” his head was yanked out of Viola’s mouth.

He touched the top of his head. His hand was covered in saliva, and there was a deep ring of tooth marks.

With the physical strength he had cultivated through the Body Forging Art for over a thousand years, she had still managed to leave marks.

Jie Ming touched the ring of tooth marks and sucked in a cold breath.

He had experienced this kind of “pain that would be felt no matter what” before.

Not long ago, during the parallel world wizard gathering, he had felt the sa when ntor Clark beat him up.

He had not expected Viola to learn it so quickly.

Truly worthy of a genius who specialized in the Law of Pain.

Jie Ming rubbed the top of his head and looked at Viola.

She had already cald down from her rage and was leaning against the experintal platform, panting. Her silver-gray hair was a complete ss, as if it had been swept by a tornado. There was still a trace of lingering anger in the corners of her eyes, but the corners of her mouth had already begun to curve upward.

“You’re pretty impressive.” Viola snorted.

Jie Ming smiled and did not reply.

He looked at Viola’s face, which was slightly flushed from excitent, and suddenly thought of sothing.

He had only barely touched the threshold of fate-type knowledge thanks to the boost in understanding of information-type knowledge provided by the Void Refinent Realm.

Therefore, Jie Ming was well aware that his current achievents were actually due to cheating.

As for Viola…

The Law of Pain was an even more niche domain than fate-type knowledge.

She had no external help and had relied entirely on her own comprehension to gnaw through it.

ntor Clark kept saying she was too stupid, too slow, and could not even learn such simple things.

But Jie Ming knew that was only because ntor Clark’s standards were too high.

In reality, Viola’s research on the Law of Pain had already reached the top level among wizards of the sa rank.

Not only that, she had advanced from third-rank to sixth-rank, skipping three ranks and creating massive knowledge gaps, yet she had filled them all in just over a thousand years.

If that was not a genius, then what was?

Jie Ming suddenly felt a wave of emotion.

He had crossed over and reached today thanks to the cultivation system provided by the Great Dao Book Pavilion.

Viola, on the other hand, had nothing and had relied entirely on herself.

She was the one truly worthy of the word “genius.”
