Chapter 620: A Genius’s Intuition
“What are you thinking about?” Viola’s voice interrupted his thoughts.
Jie Ming snapped back to reality and shook his head. “Nothing. So since you’re free now, what do you plan to do?”
Viola tilted her head and thought for a mont. “I don’t know. Do you have any recomndations?”
Jie Ming glanced at the Nest on the experintal platform, which was slowly calming down, and the corner of his mouth twitched slightly. “There really isn’t anything fun here. How about I have a black giant priest show you around?”
“Fine…” Viola rolled her eyes and turned toward the door.
Halfway there, she suddenly stopped, not turning her head as she said, “Don’t get cocky just because you’ve entered fate-type knowledge. The old man said that entry is only the beginning. The road ahead is still very long.”
Jie Ming smiled. “I know.”
Viola reached the doorway and suddenly stopped again.
She turned around, staring at Jie Ming with a vigilant expression like a cat with its fur bristled.
Her fists were clenched tightly, waving twice in the air in a threatening gesture.
“Also, don’t tell the old man that you’ve already entered fate-type knowledge.” Her voice was low, but every word was heavily emphasized. “Otherwise I’ll be dragged off for extra lessons again!”
Jie Ming looked at the fist waving in front of him, then at Viola’s face that clearly said “if you dare say anything I’ll bite you to death,” and smiled as he nodded.
“Understood.”
Viola stared at him for several seconds. Only after confirming he was not just brushing her off did she slowly lower her fist.
Jie Ming looked at her expression and felt amused inside.
It seed that ntor Clark’s “extra lessons” had left quite a psychological shadow on this senior sister of his.
She let out a long breath, but suddenly lost interest in continuing to play around. “Forget it. Suddenly I don’t feel like it’s that interesting anymore…”
Jie Ming blinked. To change the subject, he raised his hand and pointed at the gelatinous creature in the center of the laboratory that was slowly writhing. “Since Senior Sister has nothing to do right now, why don’t you co help modify this?”
Viola’s gaze landed on the large semi-transparent blue-glowing mass. Her brows furrowed slightly. “What is this?”
“A cannon fodder creature I created. I nad it ‘Nest.’” Jie Ming walked to the side of the experintal platform and pressed his palm against the gel’s surface, feeling the energy pulses inside it. “Of course, it no longer has any nesting functions now.”
Viola took a few steps closer, tilted her head to examine it, and gave an unrelenting evaluation. “The craftsmanship is a bit crude. What do you plan to turn it into?”
Jie Ming did not refute her.
The Nest’s design was indeed crude. Although he had perford so preliminary modifications, most of the other techniques were still from before the Information Plane war.
Looking back now, there were optimization opportunities everywhere.
“Those creatures from the Information Plane… I should have ntioned them to you after I ca back. Do you still rember?” Jie Ming asked.
Viola nodded.
“I want the Nest to gain a certain degree of information life capabilities.” Jie Ming withdrew his hand from the gel and drew a light screen in the air. Dense modification plans appeared on it.
After advancing to the Void Refinent Realm, Jie Ming’s familiarity with information-based beings had skyrocketed.
Not only had he entered fate-type knowledge, but he had also studied many core modification materials from the parallel world. He now had considerable confidence in this plan.
Viola’s gaze swept across the light screen without giving an imdiate opinion.
She walked to the other side of the experintal platform, took out a small delicate lens from her bosom, and aid it at the mass of gel. A pale green light scanned every inch of its surface.
“What is the core characteristic of information life?” she asked without raising her head.
“Information-state conversion. Temporarily transforming matter and energy into information, transmitting it to another node, and then re-materializing it.” Jie Ming said, “The Nest’s current regeneration ability is already very strong, but if we add information-state transmission capability, it won’t just be regeneration anymore—it will be true ‘immortality.’ As long as there are still nodes remaining, it can resurrect infinitely.”
Viola put away the lens and nodded thoughtfully.
She looked at Jie Ming with a scrutinizing gaze. “What material do you plan to use as the core for information conversion?”
Jie Ming did not speak.
He walked to the safe in the corner of the laboratory, entered a long string of passwords, and then pressed his palm for soul fluctuation verification.
The safe door slowly opened, revealing rows of neatly arranged blue crystals inside.
Entropy Brains.
He took out one the size of a fist, held it in his palm, and walked back to the experintal platform.
Viola’s eyes instantly went straight.
She stared at the blue crystal, watching the fine light particles slowly flowing inside it, her lips parting slightly.
“This is an Entropy Brain?” Her voice sounded a little dry. “It’s already being auctioned outside for one billion high-level military rits each.”
One billion… Jie Ming’s heart stirred slightly.
When he had left the Information Plane back then, the price of an Entropy Brain had been between two hundred thousand and five hundred thousand high-level military rits each.
Only a few hundred years had passed, yet it had risen by so many tis.
But thinking about it, it was not surprising. The effect of Entropy Brains was simply too heaven-defying. It could comb through a person’s entire lifeti of knowledge from start to finish, allowing wizards stuck at bottlenecks for hundreds of years to break through overnight.
For sothing like this, people would pay any price.
“How many do you have?” Viola’s voice pulled Jie Ming back to reality.
“Enough.” Jie Ming did not give a specific number. Instead, he pushed the Entropy Brain toward Viola. “If you can help complete the modification, I can give you one as paynt.”
Although the value of an Entropy Brain was not low, its effect on Jie Ming was already quite limited.
Once he truly reached Dao Integration in the future, the effect of Entropy Brains on him would drop to the minimum.
Moreover, he had used quite a few Entropy Brains over the years. His body and soul had already morized the sensation.
Jie Ming estimated that after using it a few more tis, the Body Forging Art would be able to autonomously evolve the sa ability.
Viola’s gaze jumped back and forth between the Entropy Brain and Jie Ming several tis. Her breathing clearly quickened a little.
“Deal.”
Viola’s voice was deliberately calm, but her hand had already reached out and taken the Entropy Brain from Jie Ming’s palm.
Her movent was so fast it seed she was afraid he would change his mind.
The corner of Jie Ming’s mouth twitched slightly.
Senior Sister, at least pretend to be polite for a mont.
Viola carefully stored the Entropy Brain into her own spatial equipnt, then walked back to the experintal platform. The expression on her face had already switched from the unserious senior sister to a focused researcher.
On the light screen, the dense text and diagrams were analyzed line by line by Viola.
“The placent of the information conversion nodes is wrong.” Viola suddenly spoke. Her finger tapped on the screen, marking one of the nodes red. “You placed it on the periphery of the core zone. The transmission delay for information will be very large.”
“That was for safety.” Jie Ming explained. “If placed inside the core zone, once the information conversion goes out of control, the entire Nest will collapse.”
“What is the probability of loss of control?”
“About three percent.”
“Then there’s no need to place it on the periphery.”
Viola’s fingers moved rapidly across the light screen, dragging the marked nodes one by one to new positions.
“The core characteristic of information life is information-state conversion. If you place the conversion nodes on the periphery, it’s like forcing it to shed an outer layer first during conversion. Do you transmit the shed layer or not? If you don’t, it’s wasted. If you do, the delay becos too large. It’s better to place them directly in the core zone—one conversion, everything packaged together.”
“As for the possibility of loss of control… the probability isn’t low, so add a few more verification nodes. Although the speed will still be slightly dragged down, it’s still much faster than placing them on the periphery…”
As she spoke, the node structure was already being rearranged.
Under Viola’s clever arrangent, only a small number of additional verification nodes were added in the middle, yet all the nodes were now encompassed.
Jie Ming looked at the rearranged nodes and remained silent for several seconds.
Viola’s plan was more radical than his, but from the model’s perspective, it was indeed more suitable.
“And here.” Viola continued writing and drawing on the light screen, her tone carrying a trace of disdain. “The direction of the energy circuits is too conservative. Are you afraid it will burn out? This gelatinous creature’s tolerance is much higher than you imagine. The circuits can be twice as dense, and the conversion efficiency will increase by at least twenty percent.”
She modified as she spoke, her movents smooth and flowing, as if the dense structural diagrams were sothing she had drawn herself.
Jie Ming stood beside her, watching her completely overhaul the modification plan from start to finish. A strange feeling suddenly welled up in his heart.
This was what a genius looked like.
It was not that he lacked the ability to make it better, but it would require more ti.
Viola only needed one glance to know where it could be optimized, where it could be made more aggressive, and where it could take risks.
That was not a difference in knowledge, but a difference in intuition and talent.
After Viola finished modifying the last part, she straightened up, tucked the lens back into her bosom, and patted her hands as if dusting off nonexistent dirt.
“Done. Following this plan, the combat power will be at least forty percent higher than your original version.” She paused, then glanced sideways at Jie Ming. “By the way, for this modification, do you want to do it myself?”
Jie Ming looked at the completely transford plan on the light screen, then at Viola’s face that clearly read “I have already entered work mode,” and decisively shook his head.
“Just guide . I’ll do the hands-on work.”
Viola snorted, though it was unclear whether she was satisfied or dissatisfied.
She pulled over a chair and sat down, crossing her legs and jerking her chin toward the experintal platform.
“Then let’s begin.”
