Chapter 15: Better to Lose 500 Million Than Enter a Mass Grave

That scene was too tragic.

Zhang Xuanyao blinked, withdrew his gaze, and the golden light dissipated.

He felt a layer of cold sweat break out on his back.

Is this really a comrcial project?

This is clearly a mass grave.

"Lay Practitioner Su." Zhang Xuanyao turned his head, looking at the expectant Su Qingge, his expression becoming unprecedentedly serious.

"This plot of land..."

"What's wrong with this land?" Su Qingge's heart instantly jumped to her throat.

Zhang Xuanyao was just about to speak.

"Screech!" The police car slamd on the brakes.

Inertia sent the two in the back seat lurching forward, nearly hitting the front seats.

"Ahem!"

Officer Xiao Wang gripped the steering wheel, looking at the two of them sternly through the rearview mirror.

"Daoist Zhang, Young Miss Su."

Officer Xiao Wang tapped the police badge on the steering wheel. "This is a police car. It belongs to a national law enforcent agency."

"Is it not showing enough respect to us, the People's Police, to be discussing Feng Shui, fortune-telling, and ghosts and gods in here?"

"Mind your behavior!"

"If you want to engage in feudal superstition, wait until you get out of the car and go ho; do whatever you want then. But in my car, it is absolutely forbidden!"

Officer Xiao Wang spoke righteously. He really couldn't listen to it anymore.

The banana peel earlier could barely be explained as a coincidence, but now these two were starting to trade fortune-telling right in front of him, and they were talking about the Feng Shui of a multi-billion dollar project.

If this got out, would he even be able to keep wearing this police uniform?

The atmosphere in the car instantly froze.

Su Qingge opened her mouth, then awkwardly pulled back. She had been too anxious just now and had completely forgotten about the current environnt.

Zhang Xuanyao shrugged.

He swallowed the words "sign of great misfortune" that were just on the tip of his tongue.

"Officer Wang is right to reprimand us."

Zhang Xuanyao leaned back against the seat, resuming his lazy deanor, "We must believe in science and break free from superstition."

He turned his head and winked at Su Qingge. His lips moved slightly without making a sound.

But Su Qingge understood his lip movents. "We'll talk later."

Half of Su Qingge's heart settled, but the other half remained suspended. Talk later? That ant there was a problem. And a big one at that.

If it were a good on, Zhang Xuanyao would definitely have said it on the spot. This hesitant attitude often ant the result was extrely bad.

The car started up again. For the rest of the journey, the car was deathly silent.

Officer Xiao Wang focused on driving, Su Qingge frantically sent ssages to her secretary on her phone to pause all progress on the South City project, while Zhang Xuanyao closed his eyes to rest, calculating what to eat for dinner.

Half an hour later, the police car drove into the city and stopped in the courtyard of the Criminal Police Brigade.

As soon as they got out of the car, that familiar atmosphere rushed towards them. Only this ti, Zhang Xuanyao wasn't here to drink tea; he was here to give a statent.

"President Su!" "Qingge!" As soon as she entered the lobby, a group of people surrounded her.

There were executives from the Su Group, the legal team that had rushed over upon hearing the news, and several of Su Qingge's close friends.

The news of Second Young Master's attempted murder of his wife had already spread like wildfire in their circles.

"President Su, are you alright?!" "Heavens, how did it end up like this? Call an ambulance!" "Where is that beast, Second Young Master? I'm going to kill him!"

The crowd surrounded Su Qingge, offering care and concern.

Su Qingge frowned, and that aura of a powerful businesswoman instantly returned.

She pushed away the towel handed to her by her assistant, her gaze scanning the crowd, and finally locked onto Zhang Xuanyao, who was preparing to sneak off to the nearby vending machine to buy water.

"Step aside, everyone." Su Qingge pushed through the crowd and strode behind Zhang Xuanyao.

"Great Master."

Zhang Xuanyao had just inserted a coin into the machine; hearing the voice, he turned around helplessly: "President Su, what is it now? I'm thirsty; it's not against the law to buy a bottle of water, right?"

"I have one more question." Su Qingge completely ignored the dozens of surprised eyes around her.

Those lawyers and executives were stunned. Since when had their decisive President Su ever been so humble to a young Daoist?

"That plot of land in South City..." Su Qingge lowered her voice, "Just how serious is it?"

Zhang Xuanyao glanced at the crowd, who were all pricking up their ears. He bent down, took the bottle of iced cola from the dispenser, and with a "hiss," pulled the tab. He tilted his head back and took a gulp. Refreshing.

"President Su." Zhang Xuanyao wiped the water from the corner of his mouth and pointed a finger at the ground beneath his feet.

"If you don't want the Su Group to go bankrupt and be liquidated next year." "If you don't want to jump off the eighteenth floor yourself." "Don't even touch that project."

Zhang Xuanyao's voice was not loud, but everyone present heard it clearly. The entire room fell into deathly silence.

The lawyers' jaws practically hit the floor. Bankruptcy? Jumping off a building? Is this Daoist cursing President Su?

In normal tis, Su Qingge would have had soone throw such a jinx out. But at this mont, Su Qingge's face turned deathly pale instantly, and her body swayed, nearly losing her footing.

She leaned on her assistant, staring fixedly at Zhang Xuanyao, her voice trembling: "Is it... really that serious?"

Zhang Xuanyao did not answer. He simply raised the cola can in his hand and shook it at Su Qingge.

"This ten-thousand-yuan divination fee is a discount I'm giving you."

"After all..." Zhang Xuanyao smiled, revealing a mouthful of white teeth. "If President Su goes bankrupt, who will sponsor the renovation project of our Qingfeng Temple in the future?"

After saying this, he took the cola and swaggered toward the interrogation room, leaving a crowd of people in the lobby in a state of disarray.

"Xiao Li." Su Qingge took a deep breath, turned to look at her chief secretary behind her, her eyes terrifyingly cold.

"Notify the board of directors; the Su Group is withdrawing from tomorrow morning's South City bidding eting."

"Huh?" The secretary was stunned, "But President Su, the initial investnt of 500 million..."

"I said withdraw!" Su Qingge's voice rose by an octave, carrying unquestionable authority, "Even if all 500 million goes down the drain, it's better than losing our lives!"

She watched Zhang Xuanyao's back disappear at the end of the corridor. That back was not tall, and even a bit lazy. But in Su Qingge's eyes, it was the only guiding light that could lead her out of the abyss.

"Also..." Su Qingge took a backup phone from her assistant. "Look up the account for Qingfeng Temple on Mount Longhu. Transfer five million over first. Remark: Renovation fee."

Subsequently, Su Qingge was taken into an office, while Zhang Xuanyao was taken into an interrogation room. Both were giving statents, and the difference beca apparent.

As the victim, Su Qingge recounted Second Young Master's actions in detail. On Zhang Xuanyao's side, he also explained the situation, but the people at the police station were skeptical.

Su Qingge finished her statent and ca out of the office first.
