“Click—creak—!” Twisting the doorknob and pushing the door open, a thin layer of dust assailed Lu Yibei’s face.

She frowned slightly, covering her mouth and nose with one hand, and stepped into the apartnt.

It was normal for the apartnt to accumulate so dust after being uninhabited for more than ten days, but this much, as if there had been no human activity for a year or two, was quite unusual.

As the thin layer of dust slowly settled like a light veil, the air rippled like water disturbed by a pebble, and the next mont, the scene before Lu Yibei’s eyes suddenly beca abnormal.

In the cool-toned living room, tiny streams of light darted about, and several shadows reveled on the large coffee table.

Eyeball-like beads bounced up and down, a mottled wig hairball, a tattered white Sleeping Dress, a False Tooth holding a cigarette, and the Coat, enhanced by Mr. Rabbit, twisted anthropomorphically.

The entire apartnt seed to have beco their party paradise.

Accompanying their activities, tiny dust particles flew out from the gaps in their bodies, scattering everywhere, and a gust of wind from the window spread them throughout the room.

What is this? urban legend disco?

Lu Yibei stood at the entrance, gazing silently at the culprits reveling on the coffee table.

“...”

Today, he finally understood why, in the past, whenever he didn’t return for two or three days, even with doors and windows closed, his ho would accumulate thick layers of dust.

It turned out these guys were the cause!

Although he had long been accustod to the existence of these “neighbors” in his ho, seeing them with his own eyes still made him feel quite complex.

He wasn't particularly scared; whose house hadn't had a few cockroaches or mice?

Lu Yibei had always just considered his own cockroaches and mice to be more unique than others’.

It was just that seeing them with his own eyes felt a bit strange, and a little disgusting!

Just as Lu Yibei was watching the strange shadows, the shadows also noticed his presence, then froze in unison, their bodies uncontrollably trembling.

Like a group of elentary school students caught red-handed doing sothing bad by their parents.

Lu Yibei, “...” Shouldn’t I be the one who’s scared? Why are you guys panicking like a bubble teapot!

Muttering to himself, Lu Yibei said expressionlessly, “I’m back!” Then he took out slippers from the shoe cabinet and put them on, as if he hadn’t seen them, and walked upstairs on his own.

“Thump-thump-thump—!”

Following the sound of footsteps going upstairs, there was imdiately the sound of soone falling onto a bed.

After Lu Yibei finally quieted down, the strange shadows moved in unison, scurrying around as if fleeing for their lives, emitting strange, stealthy rustling sounds.

Run! It’s too terrifying, we must run!

Although living here was much more comfortable than other places, the room’s owner never disturbed their “lives” out of curiosity.

But now, the owner of this house had beco such a terrifying existence, it was completely impossible to stay here.

Who knows, if he beca unhappy, he might eat them as snacks!

Lu Yibei was lying on the bed, about to take a nap, when he heard the commotion downstairs.

His brows gradually furrowed, and he took a deep breath, saying with slight anger, “Annoying? Annoying?!”

“It’s bad enough you make other people’s hos dirty and ssy, but you’re not even letting get a good night’s sleep, are you?!”

As his words fell, the entire room beca dead silent.

Lu Yibei nodded slightly, turned over, and soon beca drowsy.

Just as he was half-asleep, he vaguely heard a sneaky discussion by his ear.

“Are we still leaving?”

“Where can we go? Besides, if we just leave like this, he’ll kill us!”

“Then what do we do?”

“How about we...”

Before he could hear the sneaky voices conclude their discussion, Lu Yibei’s vision went black, and he fell asleep.

...

When Lu Yibei woke up again, the window was already filled with red sunset glow.

He checked the ti; it was already past five in the afternoon.

Unknowingly, he had slept for over five hours.

“Damn it, how is it this late already?” Muttering to himself, Lu Yibei got dressed, jumped out of bed, and hurried downstairs in a panic.

He was just about to go out to find a suitable place to welco today’s “daily pain,” but he found so unusual things in the living room and retreated.

Looking around, the entire apartnt seed to have been cleaned by soone, the floor so clean it reflected light.

The coffee table was spotless, and the items on it were neatly arranged.

The French windows were wiped so clear that for a mont, he had the illusion, “Did so idiot remove my windows while I was sleeping?”

Even the old grease on the kitchen range hood was cleaned, and a large, satisfying, steaming bowl of beef noodles was included as a bonus.

“Hiss—!” Lu Yibei gasped, drawing a cold breath.

There was actually a snail girl in his house? How happy! Not at all!

There were no noodles or beef in his house, yet a bowl of beef noodles appeared out of thin air.

No matter how he thought about it, it was very strange, wasn’t it?!

Who would dare to eat that?! What if while eating, it turned into poisonous insects, toads, or stones?

But...

Waves of aroma wafted over, and Lu Yibei swallowed hard; he was hungry, truly very hungry.

In fact, if it weren’t for hunger, he wouldn’t have woken up so quickly.

He was awakened by hunger.

When he was sleeping just now, his consciousness was in a hazy darkness, and the unbearable hunger made him wish he could devour all the surrounding darkness!

“What if he doesn’t eat it? Is he still holding a grudge against us?”

“Damn it, when I went to steal at from next door just now, I almost got caught! He actually won’t eat it? I’m going to fight him!”

“Don’t go, don’t go, let’s think of another way, let’s think of a way!”

“Hmph! Think of what way? I told you long ago, clinging to a powerful person isn’t easy! Moving out quickly is the right path!”

In the kitchen, a flurry of whispers ca from the dark corner under the refrigerator.

Hearing this, Lu Yibei frowned, then stepped forward and sat down at the dining table.

After all, it was a gesture of goodwill from those “little friends.” Seeing how timid they were, they probably wouldn’t dare to play any tricks, right?

Lu Yibei thought.

“He’s going to eat it! He’s really eating it! What did I tell you, we should have put so poison in the noodles to kill that son of a gun!”

“You ♦ shut up! What if he hears us?”

Lu Yibei, “...” Although he confird there was no poison in the noodles, why did he suddenly feel a bit angry?

He glanced at the refrigerator with his peripheral vision, then withdrew his gaze and examined the beef noodles in front of him.

He took a deep breath and began to eat ravenously.

“Slurp—slurp—gulp-gulp-gulp—!”

The noodles were perfectly cooked, the beef was tender but not mushy, and the broth was rich and fragrant.

After finishing a bowl of beef noodles, Lu Yibei felt warm all over, his hunger completely gone, and he contentedly put down the bowl.

The mont he put down the bowl, a sigh of relief ca from the corner under the refrigerator.

He stood up, walked to the refrigerator, bent down, opened his mouth, and just as he was about to say sothing, he saw a flurry of black shadows scurrying under the refrigerator.

“Run! He’s coming!”

“Damn it! He was actually pretending not to hear us the whole ti! This isn’t Lu Yibei at all! He’s practically an old scher!”

“Move aside, you! You’re stepping on my hair!”

“...” Lu Yibei stared expressionlessly at the black shadows for a mont, then sighed and said, “I say... don’t run anymore, I won’t hurt you.”

I never thought that one day, I would actually say lines like “I won’t hurt you” to urban legend!

Lu Yibei muttered to himself, then continued, “I just want to say one thing: don’t steal things from your neighbors’ hos anymore, understand? It will scare people.”

Although he could barely accept the existence of these “little friends,” normal people probably couldn’t, right?

Just imagine, your beef is safely in the refrigerator, and then it’s suddenly gone; that’s quite scary.

Lu Yibei thought.

All the urban legend, “...” He doesn’t seem as terrifying as we imagined?

“Ay—!” Seeing the urban legend motionless, as if trying their best to portray “we are a pile of miscellaneous items,” Lu Yibei sighed softly, “I’ll assu you all heard .

I’m going out for a bit; don’t cause trouble at ho.”

After speaking, he got up and left the apartnt.

...

After leaving the door, Lu Yibei took the elevator all the way to the top floor, then climbed the stairs to the rooftop.

Since the nights began to lengthen, very few people used solar water heaters anymore.

The rooftop, which had no photovoltaic panels installed, only had a few heavy water tanks standing solitarily.

The slightly empty rooftop, bathed in the vibrant hues of the ★ 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ★ setting sun, had a sowhat dreamlike quality.

Lu Yibei found a stone step, sat facing the direction where the sun was setting, and waited quietly.

As the sky gradually darkened, familiar whispers began to sound in his ears, accompanied by a violent pounding in his heart, and a bloody, chilling aura erged.

Feeling the cold aura spreading through his body, Lu Yibei’s muscles tensed, and his hands gripped the edge of the stone step tightly.

Just then, the sky plunged into darkness, and a crescent moon, thin as a golden thread, appeared in the sky.

Is it coming? Lu Yibei’s gaze sharpened.

The next mont, the scorching heat that seed to lt his body erupted within him.

Although he had psychologically adapted to the pain that arrived punctually with the descent of night during this period, the collision of scorching heat and chilling cold within his body still made him let out a cry of pain.

“Ugh—ah—!”

The pain lasted for a few seconds.

After adapting slightly, Lu Yibei took a deep breath and began to recite the description of Nvba.

“There is Zhong Mountain.

There is a woman dressed in green...”

White mist perated around him, and the hot current that seed to lt his body was still surging.

Lu Yibei paused for a mont.

Did he make a mistake sowhere in the recitation?

Thinking this, he quickened his pace a bit and repeated it.

“There is Zhong Mountain.

There is a woman dressed in green...”

“There is Zhong Mountain...”

...

After reciting it three tis consecutively, he seed to finally confirm sothing, his pupils suddenly constricted, and he imdiately beca panicked.

Today, he did the sa thing as usual, at the sa ti, following the sa steps, but the pain did not disappear as usual.

His transformation into a urban legend was still continuing!
