Now reading: Vol 2. Chapter 4: She is hungry from I Became a Witch in a World Full of Urban Legends, a Gender bender novel by Chi Tu De Shu Yu.

An uncontrollable hot current surged wildly within her body, Lu Yibei's heart pounded erratically, and the lting pain in her limbs and internal organs made her legs go soft, causing her to kneel on the ground, her body curled into a ball.

"Uh... uh..."

Lu Yibei groaned intermittently.

So, what that mysterious girl ant by "a few days every month" was that the transformation process couldn't be suppressed?

She suddenly felt a pang of fear. If she hadn't been discharged from the hospital today, and had stayed there until evening, then, as usual, foolishly hidden sowhere near the hospital to wait for the "daily pain" to end, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

As Lu Yibei thought, her body continued to heat up, the pain intensified, and her consciousness began to waver.

She felt as if she had turned into a bonfire, her soul and flesh becoming kindling, gradually collapsing and shrinking in the flas, hovering on the brink of destruction and rebirth.

Her vision was enveloped in a blaze, the objects before her perishing in the flas, an endless inferno, as if it would fill the entire world.

Then...

After an unknown amount of ti in the scorching heat, a cold aura began to flow through her body, and her body gradually cooled down.

"Hiss--!" A soft sound, like flas being extinguished by cold water, echoed on the empty rooftop, and a cloud of white smoke diffused around her body.

As the white smoke gradually dispersed, the pervasive pain began to dissipate. Lu Yibei slowly opened her eyes and saw her tender, pale hands sunken into the cracked ground.

Is it over?

Lu Yibei thought blankly, quietly sensing the changes in her body. Only after she confird that the bodily anomaly had stopped did she relax, let out a long sigh, and collapsed onto the ground.

The evening breeze blew, like a small hand gently caressing her fair skin. Feeling the slight coolness on her skin, Lu Yibei froze, her pupils sharply constricted for a mont, and she sat up.

Holy crap!

She sat cross-legged and looked around, then saw her clothes burned to ashes, and her phone and loose change lted into a molten state. A needle-like heartache struck her, and she subconsciously clutched her chest, feeling as if a mouthful of old blood was stuck in her throat.

My phone! Such a big phone! The Huami P40 Pro I just bought before reporting to university!

It was so hard for to finally decide to splurge, and I originally planned to use it for ten years! Just like that, it's gone?

Damn it! Why is this broken ability so expensive?

After complaining a few tis in her mind, Lu Yibei gradually started to see things more clearly. The reason she beca like this was all to save her own life, wasn't it?

A phone worth several thousand yuan was scrapped; consider it a sacrifice of money for longevity!

As soon as she thought this, it suddenly felt like a good deal. If possible, she even wanted to spend more money to extend her life by a few more seconds!

Thinking so, Lu Yibei stood up, reluctantly bid farewell to her phone, and then left the rooftop.

The mont that petite figure was swallowed by the stairwell, a faint sigh was heard from the darkness.

Her phone was burned, and it was fake to say she didn't feel bad; Lu Yibei was heartbroken.

But what could be done? When one is alive and encounters unacceptable things, one always has to find a way to comfort oneself and accept them.

...

Leaving the rooftop, Lu Yibei descended the stairs, sneaking and hiding all the way.

Although it was completely dark now, hardly anyone was out at this ti, and the possibility of eting others in the elevator was very small.

But what if?

What if she t soone else in the elevator? Her naked appearance would be so shaful it would explode! And then the elevator would really explode.

Therefore, for the sake of her own integrity and the safety of the residents of the entire building, Lu Yibei chose to take the stairs.

Due to fear of darkness and the things hidden within it, the stairwell in the apartnt building had hardly been used since its construction. As a result, the sound-activated lights on most floors were broken, and no one bothered to fix them.

In the slightly cramped space, there hung a stale, strange odor. Dim light, from an unknown floor, flickered weakly.

Occasionally, piles of debris abruptly entered her line of sight from around a corner, causing her heart to pound uncontrollably.

"Don't panic, don't panic. I'm a urban legend now too! Even if sothing jumps out, I can..."

"Ying--! What the heck is that?!"

"Damn it! Why would soone deflate an inflatable doll and throw it in the stairwell? Are they trying to scare people to death?"

Lu Yibei patted her chest, let out a breath, and carefully avoided the twisted human-shaped object on the floor, continuing her descent.

Her expression was outwardly calm, yet her gradually reddening long hair behind her betrayed her inner panic. Her slender fingers inadvertently touched the tal railing beside her, emitting a soft sound and burning it red hot.

The sound-activated lights further down seed to be completely broken, and the winding stairs in her sight snaked into the darkness.

Lu Yibei walked in the darkness, and it seed as if sothing was stirring and scurrying in the shadows around her. Gradually, a wave of hunger washed over her, and she subconsciously swallowed.

What's going on?

Didn't I just eat a big bowl of beef noodles before coming up? Why am I hungry again?

Is it because the transformation process consud too much energy?

Lu Yibei pondered, initially not paying much attention to the hunger. However, as ti passed, the hunger grew increasingly intense.

It felt as if a furry little paw was digging inside her stomach. She felt as if she hadn't eaten for days, her limbs grew weak, little stars appeared before her eyes, and her brain seed to be dominated by hunger, with only one thought: where is there food!

...

Inside Lu Yibei's apartnt.

In the darkness, several shadowy figures gathered around the coffee table, whispering about sothing.

"You all felt that aura just {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} now. I think we need to have a serious discussion about whether we should continue living here," the fuzzy, ball-like shadow said gravely.

"Alas--!" False Tooth sighed, "If we don't live here, where else can we live? In this whole city, I doubt we'll find another owner who completely disregards our existence like her."

"Why don't we just kill her?!" The Eyeball-like sphere was small, but its temper seed the most fiery. It jumped up and down, saying, "Humans like to bathe, they wash every two or three days. You wait until she's bathing, make a puddle of water, and I'll ambush her in the bathroom with my knife..."

"You ♦ shut up! Your thod only works on humans! The problem is, she's not a human! If we don't kill her and she gets angry, we'll all die!"

"Then what do we do?! Are we just going to let her ride on our heads, defecate and urinate, and lord it over us? I can't swallow this!"

"Still can't swallow it? You've been dead for how many years, you've already swallowed your last breath! Honestly, I'm still inclined to cling to her leg."

"I think moving out is the safest option."

...

The urban legend discussed, and just then, a knock on the door rang out, abruptly ending their conversation.

"Dong dong dong--!"

Imdiately following, a girl's weak groan ca from outside the door, "Open the door!"

Hearing this, all the urban legend looked at the Coat in the corner and said in a low voice, "Is that your master? Didn't you say she was finished and wouldn't co back?"

The Coat twisted twice, not knowing whether it was confirming or denying, looking rather unintelligent.

"Dong dong dong--!"

"Open the door for ! I know you're in there!" The girl outside wailed again, and a scorching wave of psychic energy perated through the door, gradually intensifying.

The urban legend fell silent for a mont, exchanging glances, and after communicating with their "eyes," they suddenly moved.

Shadows flew, dust splattered, and the Coat was crumpled into a ball, then shoved by the Eyeball, flying towards the door.

The Coat hit the door with a dull thud, and imdiately, the knocking outside the door intensified.

"Thump thump thump--!"

The Coat struggled to get up, wanting to escape, but turned around to find that the other urban legend behind it had already vanished. Just then, the girl's voice ca from outside the door again.

"Damn it! Open the door! This old lady, cough, this old man heard you!"

The Coat trembled violently at the sound, an aura of grievance emanating from its entire being. Its sleeve tremblingly wrapped around the doorknob, slowly twisting.

"Click--!"

With the soft click of the lock, the door was imdiately pushed open from the outside by soone, and then a petite figure with slightly reddish long hair rushed in, sprinting towards the refrigerator.

In the corner, a group of urban legend hid in the shadows, watching Lu Yibei rummage through the refrigerator, filled with terror.

"She... she seems to be him? What's going on? I've been dead for so many years, and this is the first ti I've seen sothing like this!" False Tooth said weakly.

"What's with the'she' and 'him'? If you can't speak properly, then don't! I think this is her true appearance! Look at her..." The wig stared at Lu Yibei, who had picked up a cucumber with a fierce look in her eyes, and said in terror, "Look at her, she's so thirsty!"

"Damn it! Skirt, Nami Spa! Get away! Water's splashing on !"

Lu Yibei stood in front of the refrigerator, not bothering to clean or check for spoilage, and shoved the ten-day-old vegetables into her mouth, chewing them in large mouthfuls.

However, after less than ten seconds, her body suddenly stiffened, and an unexpected feeling of nausea rose from her heart, causing her stomach to spasm wildly.

"Ugh--! Cough cough cough--!"

Lu Yibei imdiately dry-heaved everything she had just eaten, as if she were eating poison instead of vegetables.

A strong hunger, seemingly from the depths of her soul, continuously assailed Lu Yibei's will. She stared blankly at the food debris on the ground, and a scorching current of air spread from her small body, roasting the food debris and diffusing a fragrant aroma of cooked food.

Lu Yibei clutched her chest, her brows tightly furrowed.

The waves of aroma made her feel even more nauseous, her stomach cramping, wanting to vomit again.

The next mont, her sense of sll suddenly beca acute.

She slled the aura emanating from the urban legend in the dark corners of the apartnt, a sll like damp, moldy rags, which made her feel a bit nauseous, but her instincts were telling her.

Those were the "foods" that could alleviate her hunger. Under the temptation of the food, she slowly turned around and looked towards where the urban legend were hiding, her eyes flickering with fire, her shallow red long hair moving without wind, her whole being like a Ghost King crawled out of the fiery hell.

"Do you... really want to eat?" The young girl's tender yet eerie voice drifted from the darkness.

Seeing this scene, the atmosphere among the urban legend hiding in the dark corner instantly plumted to freezing point.

"She... she wouldn't be that, would she?" False Tooth said weakly.

"I think so," the furball affird softly.

The Eyeball suddenly started screaming, "What are you waiting for, run! Are you idiots? She's clearly 'hungry'! Are you waiting to die if you don't run?"

The next mont, shrieks filled the apartnt building, and black shadows darted about.
