Luna’s breath evened. A tiny smile stayed on her lips. Akayoroi watched for a while, then let her eyes fall closed, Kai holding Luna’s hand as if it were a small fla he would not let go out. Kai stayed awake a little longer. He listened to their breathing. He felt the quiet joy in his chest and let it settle like warm sand.
