"This is the weakness of relying on Duosion," wtwo explained as the submarine glided through the dark waters. "Duosion are accustod to scanning everything with Psychic energy. But because this hull is coated with Dark Stone fragnts, the scans simply pass through. To the Duosion, the submarine doesn't exist—it's just a phantom in the current."
Lt. Surge skillfully maneuvered the craft into a secluded sea cave discovered by Sabrina. "Sabrina is already embedded with the League's main force. We move first."
The submarine breached the surface inside a cavernous, pitch-black grotto.
"Here, Feng Che. Put these on," Surge said, handing over a pair of high-tech goggles. "Rocket's latest night-vision tech. They aren't just for seeing in the dark; they have a built-in database for Pokémon, minerals, and berries. Just point them at a target, and you get an instant appraisal."
Feng Che slipped them on. A low-budget version of my system, he thought. Team Rocket's R&D is truly terrifying. If Giovanni just focused on technology instead of trying to play God with wtwo and Genesect, he'd probably own the world by now.
He tested the goggles on a Zubat hanging from the ceiling.
Zubat: Level 9. Moves: Leech Life, Supersonic.
"Everything but the aptitude," Feng Che noted.
Suddenly, the shadows of the cave began to move. Dozens of eyes blinked open. "Lugia is about to give birth. The local Pokémon are on high alert—anyone who isn't a resident is an intruder to them," Surge warned. "Go, Magnezone! Get to work!"
Surge released five Magnezone. Not to be outdone, Feng Che tossed a Poké Ball. "Go, Venusaur!"
A gargantuan Venusaur materialised, its massive bulk resembling a small, verdant mountain. It let out a low, vibrating rumble that shook the cave walls.
"Whoa! Feng Che, when did your Venusaur get that big?" Surge stamred, staring at the giant.
Venusaur: This human is easily impressed. Give a Pokémon unlimited Master-class resources, and of course it grows.
Ever since it was a Bulbasaur, this Pokémon had been the primary recipient of Feng Che's finest Grass-type treasures. Currently, tucked within the massive tropical flower on its back, was the Green Leaf Orb. The artifact was constantly absorbing environntal energy, nourishing the Venusaur's cells.
A swarm of Azumarill lunged from the water. Their pink, rabbit-like ears twitched as they fired a synchronized barrage of Water Guns.
Azumarill Leader: I will not let you get near Lady Lugia!
"Venusaur, Vine Whip."
As Venusaur had grown, so had its capacity to generate vines. Hundreds of thick, erald-green whips erupted from its back—a display of power that rivalled the ultimate move Frenzy Plant. With a casual sweep, the vines shattered the incoming water jets. The Azumarill charged forward like round, blue cannonballs.
Crack! Thwack!
Venusaur swatted them out of the air like pesky flies. In a single volley, the Azumarill were sent tumbling back into the dark water, each sporting a bright red welt on their foreheads.
"Let's move, Surge," Feng Che said, adjusting his goggles.
Surge's five Magnezone hadn't even fired a shot. The battle was over before it began. Incredible, Surge thought. In just a short ti, Feng Che has beco a monster. If he keeps this up, will he beco a Champion? Or maybe even a Pokémon Master?
The Heart of the Sea
As they delved deeper, they bypassed high-level Golem and Aerodactyl. The experience was rich; by the ti they reached the inner sanctum, Feng Che's Venusaur had officially broken through to the Heavenly King rank.
anwhile, Damalanchi and his elite unit entered the caverns from the main temple entrance. The President's cane was topped with a pulsing, deep-blue gem—the legendary Heart of the Sea.
"This place is vast," Damalanchi whispered, his voice echoing. "Lugia has spent centuries reinforcing this nest. Truly the power of a god."
He turned to his shadows: Black, White, Dark, and Shadow. "No interference. Our presence is secret, but if anyone does find us, they are to be treated as enemies of the League. Understood?"
"President," White spoke up, "we've identified several possible nesting sites. Should we move to ambush her there?"
"No," Damalanchi said, a cunning smile spreading across his face. "Fighting Lugia in her own tunnels is suicide. We don't need to find her. The Heart of the Sea is a fatal temptation for her kind. I'm simply going to wait for her to co to ."
"Your job is to guard the Ancient Orbs. That is the only priority."
Damalanchi turned and walked out of the damp tunnel, leaving his elite guards behind.
Ancient Orbs? Sabrina, still disguised among the ranks, narrowed her eyes. What is he talking about?
