Incineroar and Ninetales burst from their Poké Balls, their presence instantly raising the laboratory's temperature.
"Incineroar, Ninetales! Help lt these ores!"
Feng Che gestured, and various rare mineral rocks began to float in the air, suspended by his psychic will. Under his direction, the two Pokémon unleashed concentrated streams of fire exceeding 6,000°C, reducing the legendary tals to glowing liquid. Despite their high purity, these ores still contained trace impurities that had to be refined away through extre heat.
"Dr. Fuji, are the molds for the Genesect armor ready?" Feng Che asked.
"Er... the molds are still being fabricated," Fuji replied, looking slightly embarrassed. He had been pushing Feng Che so hard, yet his own logistics team hadn't even finished the casting fras.
"No need. Since they aren't ready, I'll handle the shaping myself."
Feng Che released a thread of blue ntal intent. The psychic pulse entered the body of a deceased Genesect, scanning its skeletal structure and exoskeleton dinsions down to the micron. Then, mixing the refined liquid tals in a precise ratio, he used his telekinesis to manifest the molten steel into the crude shape of high-tech plating.
"Co forth, Alolan Ninetales!"
"Ninetales, use Blizzard on the molten steel!"
The Ice-type opened its mouth, breathing out a localized storm of freezing snow. The mont the white frost touched the glowing liquid, a violent hiss filled the room. The armor solidified instantly, perfectly tempered.
Minutes later, a suit of shimring, silver-grey tallic armor was complete. Feng Che gestured, and a deceased Genesect drifted out of its stasis pod. With a wave of his hand, the armor components flew—zip, zip, zip—and snapped onto the creature's body. Every joint and interlocking plate fit with surgical precision.
A "Silver Genesect" now stood in the lab, looking far more lethal than its unarmored counterparts.
"Dr. Fuji, I've left modular hardpoints on the armor for weapons," Feng Che explained. "You can mount your modified tech directly. I reserved a slot on the back for a rocket thruster and a primary cannon. The forearms have integrated ports for small-scale missiles, and the limbs are fitted with retractable steel talons I forged."
"You can begin testing the defensive threshold now. I even added a 'Sentry Mode'." Feng Che snapped his fingers, and the Genesect's limbs tucked inward, the armor plates shifting to form a polished, oval shield. "Test its durability with your Pokémon."
"Excellent! I'll have the weapons mounted imdiately," Fuji said, stepping closer to Feng Che. "Feng Che, I've heard top-tier psychics can puppet inorganic objects. Once the weapons are in, could you demonstrate its combat capabilities for Leader Giovanni? He's been pressuring for results. After the 'wtwo Project' failure, he's lost patience. If Genesect fails, my position as Chief Researcher might be usurped by that ambitious Dr. Namba. He's developing 'Pokémon Control' tech, and once he succeeds, I'll be obsolete."
Fuji lowered his voice, revealing his desperation.
"I can do that," Feng Che replied. "But I'm interested in Genesect myself. I want all the research data—and I want three of the specins."
"Impossible! Three is too many. I can write off one as an 'experintal accident,' but three? Giovanni would have my head."
"Doctor, you misunderstand. I want the failed specins," Feng Che pointed to the three pods containing the brain-dead or non-responsive units. "I want to study why their genes collapsed."
Fuji sighed in relief. "Fine. Those were slated for disposal anyway. Ever since the 'Ditto Escape Incident,' all failed samples must be destroyed. You're doing a favor by taking them."
"Actually, according to my research," Fuji added thoughtfully, "Ditto has the potential to beco a God-tier Pokémon."
"Oh? How so?" Feng Che asked, his interest piqued.
"Let's speak in my office. This involves Rocket's highest secrets."
The Secret of X and Y
Fuji's office was a labyrinth of books on genetics. "To be honest, I'm still conducting clandestine w cloning experints," Fuji admitted with a wry smile. "But instead of whole embryos, I'm analyzing w's cellular structure. I've found two primary special genes: X and Y."
"Gene X is the 'Transformation' gene. It allows w to mimic over 800 species. This is the power Ditto inherited—pure mimicry."
"Gene Y is the 'Destruction' gene. It possesses imnse destructive potential. It was the core of the wtwo project. But originally, I didn't just use w's DNA. I spliced in a second legendary sequence."
"The God of Destruction from the Kalos region: Yveltal."
"Yveltal has the ability to steal life energy. We wanted to create a supre God that could drain its opponents dry. The maturation was successful—I even fostered an embryo that looked identical to the wtwo design, but its color was pitch-black."
"This embryo would devour life energy to transform, and its power would be double that of the target. Unfortunately, the 'Black wtwo' embryo suffered a catastrophic rebound from its own power and supposedly collapsed."
Fuji's expression turned somber. Feng Che, however, remained calm. He knew exactly what had happened to that "failed" black embryo. It hadn't collapsed—it had beco his Ditto.
