Lu Feng was once again amazed by the laser rifle’s power, which was far beyond that of any modern rifle.

He also learned from Lin Jiao that these laser guns were a new type of weapon released just before the apocalypse, and they were extrely rare.

Besides, after the apocalypse, without a specialized power source to recharge them, the guns were essentially useless. Not just anyone could obtain a crystal core.

With a single thought, Lu Feng stored the laser pistol in his hand into his backpack space. ’I’ll keep this,’ he thought. ’It might co in handy at a critical mont.’

’Besides, it’s the first ti I’ve ever used a gun—even if it is a laser gun. I have to keep it.’

’And judging by its power, this laser gun can definitely handle a Mutant Beast, right?’

"Boss, here." Lin Jiao handed the crystal core back to Lu Feng.

She, however, nonchalantly slung the rifle over her back.

Xu Bin, Chen Tao, and Chen Hao watched with envy.

After all, there was a world of difference between a charged laser rifle and an empty one.

Lu Feng took the crystal core. Just as he put it into his backpack space, he heard Lin Jiao report with a beaming smile, "Boss, the bank vault is inside, and there’s a lot of Gold."

Hearing this, Lu Feng rushed toward the vault.

Bank vaults typically have sophisticated, specialized locks and are heavily fortified, but this one’s door was already open.

The lock chanism was clearly destroyed, rendered completely useless. It must have been the Salvation Army’s handiwork.

Inside the vault, the space had been converted. It was set up as an office, complete with chairs and even office supplies.

The vault had clearly been turned into an office.

Lu Feng soon spotted the Gold Lin Jiao had ntioned: bars of it, tossed carelessly in a corner as if they were worthless.

Lu Feng’s eyes, however, lit up at the sight of the gold bars.

’These things are worthless in the world of *After the Apocalypse*, but in the real world, they’re incredibly valuable.’

He imdiately picked up a gold bar to inspect it. This bar weighed 1,000 grams.

This was clearly heavier than many standard-issue gold bars in the real world.

"Count how many bars there are," Lu Feng quickly instructed Lin Jiao and the other three.

The four of them nodded imdiately and began to sort and count the gold bars.

A short while later, Lin Jiao reported to Lu Feng, "Boss, there are 1,032 gold bars in total."

The number seed a bit low, as it was only a little over a ton.

’A major bank in a first-tier city should have more than a single ton of gold in its vault.’

Unfortunately, Lu Feng had Lin Jiao and the others search again, ticulously combing through the office areas on the second, third, and fourth floors, but this was all the Gold they could find.

Furthermore, the office areas on the second, third, and fourth floors had all been converted into partitioned dormitory cubicles, likely the living quarters for the mbers of the Salvation Army.

Seeing that this was all the Gold there was, Lu Feng had to accept it. Besides, a ton of Gold was certainly not a small amount.

After all, one ton was a million grams.

With gold averaging 420 yuan per gram, a ton sold at a jewelry store would be worth 420 million.

However, he knew it was impossible to sell this Gold for that much.

His cousin and Chen Bo had been able to quickly offload the smaller quantities of Gold before, but if he tried to move a whole ton, even Chen Bo’s channels would struggle to handle it, given the sheer quantity.

More importantly, the gold bars themselves needed to be processed first.

After all, the bars were engraved with the Shen Hua Bank logo, along with a special stamp and design. The crucial part was that the stamp was identical to a real-world one.

’This is a real pain in the ass.’

’With this stamp, who would dare to buy it? Even the gray market channels would be hesitant, right?’

’Even if Shen Hua Bank doesn’t exist in reality, people would worry it’s so small, private bank with governnt ties that they’ve just never heard of.’

’So, to offload this batch, I’ll have to lt down the bars first.’

’That would avoid a lot of problems.’

And lting Gold wasn’t hard. He could just use a gold-lting torch, a graphite crucible for the molten liquid, and a graphite mold to let it cool.

With this in mind, Lu Feng willed himself out of the ga world.

Lin Jiao and the other three were no longer surprised by this. After Lu Feng disappeared, they started tidying up and setting up the area.

If this was going to be their new base, there were things that needed to be done.

Back in his apartnt, Lu Feng called his cousin. The mont the call connected, he said, "Cousin, help find a gold-lting torch, a set of crucibles and molds, and plenty of gasoline."

"Okay, Chen Bo should have sothing like that. I’ll go get a set from him," Yang Ming agreed instantly. A gold-lting torch was certainly sothing a private gold dealer would have on hand.

He hung up and imdiately went to find Chen Bo. His cousin’s request must be related to a new source of Gold, so he didn’t dare to delay.

After hanging up, Lu Feng headed to the teahouse.

Da Fei was at the teahouse and began his report as soon as he saw him. "Young Master Feng, the factory is at full production. Lin Qian and Chen Hai have left the city to find new clients. With the quality of our Qingfeng Tea, it shouldn’t be hard to sell."

"Mm," Lu Feng nodded. He then asked, "Da Fei, have you considered selling the tea online? Like, through influencers? In this digital age, everyone’s focused on online channels."

Da Fei frowned. "Young Master Feng, I’ve already considered that, but it’s not reliable. For low-end teas, people don’t really care. They buy it and don’t fuss over whether it’s authentic or not."

"But our Qingfeng Tea has a wholesale cost of 7,500. To sell it online, the retail price would have to be even higher. Would you spend that much money on tea online? Especially from an unknown brand with no guarantees?"

Lu Feng shook his head.

’Are you kidding ? I might buy sothing for a few dozen yuan, maybe even a couple hundred. But sothing over 5,000? No matter how much an influencer hypes it up, there’s no way I’d buy it.’

’I wouldn’t fall for it, and rich people aren’t stupid either. It’s a mistake to think the internet is full of easy marks. The kind of person who can afford this tea is probably in business themselves. Are they going to be suckers?’

Da Fei continued, "Besides, it’s not just about whether people will buy it. Others have tried hiring online influencers for tea promotion, and they couldn’t even make back the platform fees. People who appreciate good tea generally go to a teahouse."

"That’s why, even though people say brick-and-mortar stores are dying, teahouses all over the country continue to thrive. There’s a reason for it."

Since Da Fei had put it that way, Lu Feng dropped the subject. He was a layman in this field, after all, and had no idea if it would work. There was no sense in an amateur trying to direct a professional.

A short ti later, he got a call from Yang Ming. The lting torch and tools were ready.

As soon as Lu Feng got the lting torch and its accessories, he returned to his apartnt and, with a single thought, re-entered the ga.

Lin Jiao and the other three were curious about the lting torch Lu Feng brought with him.

When they saw Lu Feng approach the gold bars with the torch, place a bar into a graphite crucible, and fire it up, they knew what he was up to.

The only thing they didn’t understand was why their boss was lting the Gold bars down again.

In their minds, it was completely unnecessary—just a waste of ti.

Gold’s lting point is 1063°C. The torch Lu Feng brought could reach a maximum temperature of 1500°C, so lting the Gold was no problem at all.

It would, however, take ti. At that temperature, it took a full five minutes to lt a single bar.

Therefore, processing all one-thousand-plus bars of Gold would be a massive undertaking.

Once Lu Feng finished lting the first bar, he imdiately poured the molten tal into a graphite mold. The mold was also bar-shaped, so after cooling, it would form a brand-new gold bar.
