After Lu Feng lted a gold bar, he waited a mont as the molten gold began to slowly solidify.
He handed the gold-lting torch to Lin Jiao and the other three. "Help lt all this gold again," he instructed. "Don’t ask why. I’ll get you sothing good to eat."
Xu Bin perked up at the ntion of food. He imdiately took the gold-lting torch and, mimicking Lu Feng, got to work on a gold bar.
With a thought, Lu Feng exited the ga.
’I may have gotten a ton of gold, but I still need to figure out how to handle it.’
He was just about to pull out his phone to call his cousin, Yang Ming, when Yang Ming beat him to it and called first.
He imdiately answered, and Yang Ming’s voice ca through the line. "Xiaofeng, I’ve found out about the gas canister dealership. We can directly take over the ownership from soone else. The total cost will be around 300,000. I’ve also found the guy to handle the canisters. Do you want to co take a look?"
"Cousin, send the location," Lu Feng said imdiately.
He hung up. A mont later, Yang Ming sent him the location.
Lu Feng got straight into his car and followed the GPS directions out of the city.
Regulations had long prohibited gas canister dealerships from operating within the city, so they were relegated to the suburbs.
Lu Feng soon arrived at a gas canister dealership in a rather remote location.
Yang Ming was already waiting outside. Beside him stood a middle-aged man in a tank top. Inside the dealership, gas canisters were lined up, along with refilling equipnt.
"Xiaofeng." Yang Ming greeted Lu Feng as he got out of the car and gestured to the older man. "This is Master Lin. He’s the one who handled those previous gas canisters. Once we take over the dealership, we can register it under his na. That way, if anything goes wrong, no one else will be implicated."
Master Lin gave a simple nod. "Don’t worry, President Lu. I have no children, so I have nothing to tie down if sothing happens. Just contact directly whenever you need anything."
Lu Feng nodded.
’Since his cousin found Master Lin, it ant the man was trustworthy. After all, old n like him with no children were often untethered and straightforward.’
’Besides, these old-tirs often possessed a wealth of practical skills.’
’It was a product of their generation. An old man from his hotown even knew how to make homade gunpowder.’
Lu Feng then transferred the 300,000 to his cousin and asked, "Yang Ming, how capable is Chen Bo’s channel when it cos to handling gold?"
Now that he had a ton of gold, he needed to figure out how to offload it.
Hearing this, Yang Ming had a pretty good idea of what was going on. "Xiaofeng, you have more product? A larger quantity this ti?"
Lu Feng nodded. "Much larger than before!"
Hearing this, Yang Ming said decisively, "Let’s go to the tea house first. We’ll get Chen Bo to co out and ask him."
"Okay." Lu Feng nodded.
The two of them got in the car and headed to the tea house together.
On the way, Yang Ming gave Chen Bo a call.
Lu Feng and Yang Ming had just arrived at the tea house’s office and brewed a pot of tea when Chen Bo arrived. "Young Master Feng, Yang Ming, what’s the rush?"
Yang Ming gestured for him to sit and poured him a cup of tea. "Chen Bo, Xiaofeng wants to know how capable your channel is at handling gold."
Chen Bo heard this and guessed that the channel backing Lu Feng might have a large batch of gold this ti. He asked hurriedly, "Young Master Feng, it depends on how much gold we’re talking about."
Lu Feng answered bluntly, "A lot. About a ton of gold bars!"
PFFT! Chen Bo, who was drinking tea, spat it all out, his face a mask of shock.
Yang Ming’s eyes widened as well.
After all, this was a ton of gold, not a pound, not ten pounds.
"Young... Young Master Feng, really a ton?" Chen Bo asked, finding it hard to believe.
He might be in the gold business, but when had he ever seen so much gold?
A ton of gold... the proceeds would be in the hundreds of millions.
Chen Bo mumbled, "Young Master Feng, with a quantity this large... I’m afraid my channel can’t handle it all at once. In fact, I doubt any channel like mine in the entire Min Province could handle it."
Lu Feng frowned. "Is there any way to find other channels?"
Chen Bo replied instantly, "We can definitely find other channels. I’ve heard of middlen who specialize in this sort of thing. However, they charge an additional commission, which is calculated as a percentage of the total transaction value. The exact cut depends on the middleman, but it’s usually around 5 to 10 percent."
"Will it be risky?" Lu Feng asked.
’A commission based on the total transaction value ant the middleman would take a proportional cut from whatever the batch of gold sold for.’
’The crucial part was that this fee was separate from the cut taken by the gray market channel itself.’
’As long as the gold could be sold and the money was secured, he didn’t care about the commission. After all, he’d gotten the gold for free.’
’If there was a reliable middleman, he was more than willing to pay the fee.’
’A middleman in this line of work was definitely taking a risk; they weren’t running a charity.’
’Otherwise, why would anyone risk turning a ton of gold of dubious origin into hard cash for you?’
’You couldn’t just claim you imported a ton of gold and try to sell it legitimately, could you?’
’If shit hit the fan, the authorities would just have to check customs records to know if any such shipnt ever ca in.’
Chen Bo quickly explained, "Young Master Feng, anyone who can act as this kind of middleman must have powerful backing to cover themselves. Who knows where that commission money really ends up? It could be going to people we can’t even imagine."
"The real trick with people like this is getting them to even give us the ti of day. But with a ton of gold on the table, they can’t possibly ignore the potential commission!"
Lu Feng nodded. "Alright. As long as you can find such a middleman, once the deal is done, I can give you guys a 1% commission for your trouble."
Chen Bo’s eyes lit up at the words.
After all, even 1% of a ton of gold was a very substantial sum.
Yang Ming imdiately added, "Chen Bo, you and I will go out tomorrow and look for one of these middlen."
"Yeah, sounds good!" Chen Bo nodded, then added, "But we’ll have to bring a sample to show them. We can’t go in empty-handed."
Lu Feng nodded. "Wait here. I’ll go get a sample."
With that, Lu Feng left Qingfeng Tea House, drove back to his rented apartnt, locked the door from the inside, and with a thought, entered the ga.
Inside the bank vault, Xu Bin and the others were still reforging the gold. It was now Chen Tao’s turn.
After all, working near 1500-degree heat for extended periods required them to take breaks.
Lu Feng grabbed a gold bar that had already cooled, exited the ga once more, put the bar in a bag, and headed straight back to the tea house.
Yang Ming and Chen Bo looked at him as soon as he entered.
Lu Feng placed the gold bar on the tea table. "The rest of the gold is in bars just like this one."
Chen Bo nodded and imdiately picked up the bar to inspect it. The purity was excellent, and the delighted look on his face intensified.
The higher the purity, the more interested those middlen would be. He was sure that if they could just get a eting, their contact would be interested.
Chen Bo said at once, "Young Master Feng, Yang Ming and I will go discuss our plan. We’ll head out this afternoon to start making inquiries."
"Good," Lu Feng nodded.
Chen Bo and Yang Ming then hurriedly left the tea house.
Lu Feng left the tea house as well and headed to a food market.
’He had promised Lin Jiao and the others sothing good to eat. He’d treat the four of them to a feast this ti. After all, getting a ton of gold had put him in a great mood.’
Besides, he had seen a simple stove, pots, and bowls for cooking inside the bank vault.
Lu Feng quickly arrived at the market. He bought a fish, which was killed and cleaned for him on the spot, as well as so chicken and duck. Then he bought various vegetables and seasonings.
Having entered the workforce early, he had so cooking skills. To save money, he had often cooked for himself in his apartnt.
’He could have just gotten takeout, but he was happy and wanted to cook himself. It felt more aningful that way.’
A short while later, Lu Feng arrived back at the rented apartnt carrying bags of all sizes. He locked the door from the inside and, with another thought, entered the ga.
Seeing him enter with bags of all sizes, Lin Jiao was the first to rush up to him, followed by Xu Bin and the other two.
All four of them knew their boss had brought sothing good to eat.
But when Lu Feng put down the bags and the four of them saw the cleaned fish, the chicken and duck, the various vegetables, and all the seasonings, they froze.
The sight before them was simply staggering.
To call it a feast would be an understatent.
’After the apocalypse, perhaps only the nobles of the City East Alliance could afford to eat such a lavish al.’
