"Waaah!"
After stretching her neck and howling, lanie, her eyes red, glanced at her apologetic older sister beside her, then sniffled and whimpered:
"I already told you it wasn't , but you didn't believe , you said I was lying... boo hoo... my butt... my butt hurts..."
"Sorry, it's my fault for not taking good care of Miss lanie."
Seeing lanie in such distress, the lady-in-waiting responsible for her couldn't help but lower her head, with a slight look of guilt, she explained to Leon:
"Miss lanie started snoring midway through her sleep, and drooled quite a bit at the corner of her mouth. I just thought I'd help wipe it off to prevent it from drying on her face when she wakes up.
But the water pipes in your apartnt are a bit rusty, I couldn't turn the switch, and the water in the kettle was cold, so I went downstairs with the towel, asked the building manager for so warm water, and then..."
And by the ti you ca back with the wet towel, Anna had already started to take action, right?
After hearing the lady-in-waiting's explanation, Leon couldn't help but wave his hand helplessly, indicating that it wasn't her fault, since ultimately it was his sister's bad sleeping habits, and she was just trying to help by wiping it off.
But who would've thought that during her absence, Anna, worried about William's condition, rushed back halfway to check on them. As soon as she entered the door, the whole place reeked of alcohol, and lanie was sleeping soundly, looking flushed. When woken up, she imdiately slled of alcohol, resulting in a beatdown on the spot.
"Boo hoo hoo, I'm so wronged!"
As the lady-in-waiting finished explaining, the guilt in Anna's eyes deepened, and lanie's crying imdiately grew louder, sniffling and sobbing:
"I was really well-behaved today, I even finished my howork, I was the one who changed the wet towel on William's forehead, and yet I still got beaten... waaah!"
"Alright, alright, stop crying!"
Although lanie was indeed wronged, her crying was a bit over the top. Leon, feeling both amused and helpless, promised:
"Your sister Anna ca in and saw the situation, anyone would misunderstand. So it's all my fault, I accidentally got you tipsy, how about an increase in your allowance next month?"
"Boo hoo hoo, my butt hurts..."
"It'll go up the month after next, too!"
"Butt..."
"Add another month!"
"It's a bit better, but still hurts..."
"..."
You greedy little rascal!
Seeing lanie extorting pocket money over her sore butt, Leon couldn't help but squint, then said with intention:
"How about this, for money you betrayed your big brother, planned to pour water in the school's door hinge, and even asked your sister-in-law for..."
"Ah! Ah! Ah!"
Not expecting that the conversation was going well and Leon suddenly flipped the table, lanie imdiately scread twice, covering the critical part of the issue, then twisted her little butt twice with a face full of surprise:
"It doesn't hurt anymore! Suddenly it doesn't hurt!"
"All better?"
"All better! Really better!"
Seeing her brother's expression of mock amusent, coupled with her sister Anna's gaze shifting from guilt to suspicion, lanie couldn't help but regret negotiating too high, then blinked and said:
"Um... there seems to be so noise inside, William might be awake, I'll go check on him!"
"Alright, go on, go on."
Letting the tily surrendering lanie go without exposing her threat to "mooch off her sister-in-law," Leon held back Anna who wanted to chase after her, smiling as he persuaded:
"Let it go, let it go, you've already given her a beating anyway."
"That's not the sa!"
Failing to break free after struggling twice, Anna stomped her foot in frustration, saying angrily:
"Big brother! Hitting the wrong person is hitting the wrong person! Making a mistake is making a mistake! I can apologize for hitting the wrong person and compensate her properly, but a mistake is a mistake! She still needs to be educated again!"
"Alright, alright, you're right, she definitely needs education!"
Understanding Anna's serious nature, Leon didn't debate whether or not she should hit but gently reminded Anna:
"But she has just been wronged, got a beating from you for no reason, and if she imdiately gets another one, wouldn't that be a bit too much for her? Why don't you let her relax first and educate her when her butt doesn't hurt anymore?"
"I..."
Knowing Leon was buying ti to wait until her anger subsided, but rembering her little sister's wronged look earlier, Anna's hardened heart softened a bit, and she reluctantly stopped, pouting:
"Waiting a couple of days... is also fine..."
"That's the right attitude!"
Seeing his sister calm down again, Leon couldn't help but also breathe a sigh of relief.
Oh, lanie, although this ti your big brother made you get an undeserved beating, I also helped save your little butt from further disaster, so let's call it even!
"Thank you so much for today."
After persuading Anna not to go for a repeat performance, Leon settled her on the couch and nodded slightly at the two maids in the living room, peacefully saying:
"Veronica is also a bit drunk, so I'll take her back to rest. She asked you to wait for her in her bedroom. Also, thank you for taking care of my brother and sister."
"You're welco."
"It's what we should do."
Faced with Leon's sincere gratitude, the two sowhat "honored" maids quickly shook their heads, expressing that they had only done their duty, and then voluntarily took their leave.
After getting up to see the two maids out the door, Leon looked at his still sowhat upset sister on the couch, then decided to change the subject:
"By the way, Anna, did sothing happen today? Why did the Charitable Asylum suddenly accept so many people?"
"I'm not really sure..."
Hearing Leon's question, Anna couldn't help but furrow her graceful brows, then glanced towards William's room, answering with so concern:
"Since this morning, for so unknown reason, a lot of people suddenly ca down with low fevers. The new hospital on Red Brick Road couldn't accommodate them all, and worried it was a major outbreak, they had to disperse and isolate them nearby, arranging for them to stay in so of the large public facilities..."
Low fever?
Leon was montarily taken aback by this information, then instinctively asked:
"An infectious disease?"
"No."
Anna shook her head and replied:
"If it were an infectious disease, I wouldn't co back ho but stay at the Charitable Asylum to organize isolation.
A lot of doctors have repeatedly checked and confird that the symptoms of these people with low fevers aren't infectious and don't even put any strain on their bodies. It's just a simple persistent low fever, with maybe a little dizziness... oh right!"
As she said this, it seed she rembered sothing, looked up at Leon's head, and asked with so concern:
"How about you? Do you feel like you have a fever?"
