Chapter 2531: Chapter 2532: The Loser
Lin Yi’s body swayed as he moved to the position of the television inside the room.
The three n guarding Dak had just pinpointed Lin Yi’s location based on the sound, but now they lost their target again. This was the opportunity Lin Yi had been waiting for.
“He’s at the nine o’clock direction!” Dak shouted.
But by then, it was already too late!
Lin Yi fired first!
The three guards each had a bloody hole in their chests. Their life forces drained rapidly, and within seconds, they collapsed, dead.
Bang!
A sudden gunshot rang out—it was Dak who fired!
Fortunately, Lin Yi had anticipated his move and rolled sideways to the window’s position.
Still, his arm was grazed, but it was only a superficial wound, not impacting his actions.
In the cramped space, only Lin Yi and Dak were left.
Dak was panting heavily, cold sweat dripping down his face, and his heart pounded like a drum.
Despite possessing formidable A-level combat skills, his leg injury had severely limited his movent.
His combat ability was now virtually zero!
At this mont, Lin Yi was like a lone wolf on the plains, his eyes glinting with a predatory light.
“Last year in Panem, it was you and your people who, for the sake of stealing ore, indirectly killed my brother. And this year, you’ve co again. It’s ti to settle this debt.”
Lin Yi advanced through the dense fog, Dak locking onto him.
“You’re not qualified to kill !”
Without hesitation, Dak pulled the trigger, bullets pouring out, all hitting Lin Yi.
But Lin Yi remained unaffected, his steps rely slowing down a bit.
Dak’s heart raced uncontrollably.
“You’re wearing a bulletproof vest!”
“It’s too late to realize that now. Ti’s up—get ready to et your end.”
Lin Yi moved, gripping the Mikazuki Munechika tightly in both hands, and drove it straight into Dak’s heart!
Dak’s eyes widened, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
He had never imagined that one day, he would die in such a manner!
In an instant, Dak’s vitality drained away, his life ending under Lin Yi’s blade.
Lin Yi could have used a simpler thod to kill Dak, but that wouldn’t have vented his inner rage.
Only this most primal thod could release the negative emotions that had been festering in his heart.
Lin Yi stood in place for a long ti, unmoving.
At this mont, a profound emptiness engulfed him, and the world seed to spin.
The people who deserved to die were dead, but the ones who had left could never co back.
He wanted to talk to Zhang Long one more ti, to drink and eat at with Sambalo, and to tell him that God’s Narrow Gate was all hogwash and that staying alive was what mattered most.
But now, there was no longer a chance to do so.
They were gone, off to another cold and distant world. No matter how many thoughts filled his mind, there was no going back now.
The ntal void and physical exhaustion consud Lin Yi entirely in that mont.
Dragging his weary body, he slowly walked toward the entrance of the guesthouse.
The starlight cascaded down upon the ground, pulling Lin Yi out of his emptiness and back into reality.
He looked up at the starry sky, his body trembling.
He gazed at the vast heavens, the bustling lives below, and the faces of those who had departed, yet he couldn’t discern whether this world was real or illusory, whether it was they who had left this world, or perhaps himself.
Fatigue and emptiness surged over him like a tide. Lin Yi closed his eyes, and his body fell backward rigidly.
“Mr. Lin Yi!”
Seeing Lin Yi collapse, Kenji Nakada, who had been waiting nearby, rushed over.
But at that mont, the sound of engines roared in the distance.
Kenji Nakada saw several off-road vehicles approaching and stopping next to him.
Lin Jingzhan and Song Jinmin stepped out of the vehicles with others, their appearance making Kenji Nakada instinctively on guard.
“Relax, we’re on the sa side,” Song Jinmin said in a low voice.
Ace of Spades walked up and checked Lin Yi’s condition.
“Don’t worry, he’s just too exhausted. He’ll be fine after so rest.”
Neither Lin Jingzhan nor Song Jinmin said a word.
They were fully aware of everything that had transpired during this period.
Lin Yi’s ntal state had been under extre tension. Now, with the mission over, his physical exhaustion finally caught up with him. Such a reaction was completely understandable.
At this ti, a few subordinates erged from the guesthouse.
“Dak and his n are all dead—sixteen bodies in total.”
“There’s just no stopping him,” Ace of Spades remarked softly. “If Song Jinmin hadn’t broken Dak’s leg, this operation of his would have been suicide.”
“I understand him. I would have done the sa,” Lin Jingzhan said quietly.
The Poker team remained silent. From a rational perspective, they didn’t agree with Lin Yi’s thods.
But on an emotional level, they deeply respected his actions.
“Let’s go, as long as he’s alright. Let’s head back.”
…
When Lin Yi regained consciousness, the room was brightly lit.
A mahogany-colored bed and wooden chairs gave the room an air of brightness and grandeur.
Lin Yi sat up, rubbed his head, and picked up the calendar beside him. Only then did he realize he had been brought to the embassy.
At that mont, the door to the room opened.
A man and a woman in their thirties, wearing formal suits, stepped inside.
“Team Leader Lin, you’re awake.”
Lin Yi nodded. “Who brought here?”
“It was a man. He said his last na was Song. He left right after dropping you off.”
Lin Yi understood and nodded. He could guess what had happened.
They must have traced his whereabouts and followed him here.
Lin Yi smiled wryly. The fact that he had survived was proof of his luck.
“Zhang Long’s body should have been sent back, right?”
“According to the regulations, it was sent back yesterday. If you have any specific concerns, you can call to confirm.”
“Thank you. I’ll take care of it.”
“You’re too kind, Team Leader Lin. It’s our duty,” the young man said, before adding, “There’s one more thing to inform you about. A man nad Kenji Nakada delivered a foreign body here, saying it was at your request. We’ve stored it appropriately.”
“Got it.”
Yesterday, when he had called Caie Mitsui, he had asked her to locate Sambalo’s body. It seed they had acted quickly.
“Please help arrange for that foreign body to be sent back to the country, and also make arrangents for my return.”
“Of course, we’ll handle it now.”
With everything arranged, Lin Yi visited Caie Mitsui, and the two talked about a range of matters. Under her escort, Lin Yi left Japan.
That afternoon, Lin Yi boarded a flight back ho. The mission, which had lasted nearly three months, finally ca to an end.
Through the window, Lin Yi looked out at the dense clouds drifting below the plane.
For everyone involved, this outco was nearly perfect.
But Lin Yi alone felt that he was nothing more than a helpless failure.
