Ye Jian’s gaze sharpened slightly as she studied him.

Truthfully, she was surprised by how easily Lin Feng had grasped the reason for her appearance.

It was evident that he possessed foresight, composure, and a mind far sharper than most gave him credit for.

He was nothing like the reckless, foolish "trash teacher" everyone in the academy assud him to be.

"I thank you again, Teacher Ye Jian," Lin Feng replied respectfully. "But I can fully take care of myself."

His tone was calm, unhurried, and completely devoid of bravado yet it carried an unshakable confidence.

"I know exactly what I’ve done, and I understand the consequences that co with it. I have already prepared contingencies for any possible retaliation. I do not fear the Li Clan at all."

He paused, then added sincerely, "If you have more important matters to attend to, please feel free to do so, Teacher Ye Jian. You may leave with complete assurance that nothing bad will happen to ."

For a brief mont, silence stretched between them.

Ye Jian’s eyes narrowed slightly... not in anger, but in curiosity and evaluation.

"Did I misjudge him?" Ye Jian mused silently, her gaze fixed on Lin Feng’s back as he walked confidently ahead.

Her initial impression that he was rely cautious, not reckless had been challenged almost imdiately by the words he had just spoken.

There had been a calm certainty in his tone, a quiet confidence that defied reason.

For soone who was, by all accounts, only a lowly cultivator of the Body Refining Realm, Lin Feng’s boldness was almost absurd.

The Li Clan, by contrast, boasted Foundation Establishnt powerhouses among its ranks, cultivators whose re presence could topple ordinary masters.

Yet here was Lin Feng, speaking as though he could face them without fear, without hesitation, without the slightest sign of doubt.

"Perhaps I overestimated him," she mused quietly, the corners of her lips curling into the faintest, almost imperceptible smile.

"After all, Lin Feng is still young," she continued inwardly, her gaze thoughtful. "He could easily succumb to arrogance... or to the pride that cos with his talent and confidence."

"Very well," Ye Jian said at last, her lips curving into a faint smile.

"Whether you like it or not, I will still follow the Dean’s orders. But your confidence is... refreshing."

She turned slightly, then added, "Just rember — even the strongest cultivators can fall to a single careless mont."

Lin Feng inclined his head politely. "I never underestimate my enemies."

Their gazes t once more... calm, sharp, and filled with mutual recognition.

Lin Feng was just about to tell Ye Jian that he was heading out for lunch when soone suddenly stord toward them with an unmistakably angry expression on her face.

Her steps were quick, her brows tightly knit, and her aura radiated grievance.

However, the mont her eyes landed on Ye Jian, her expression instantly softened, as if a switch had been flipped.

This was, of course, none other than Ning Xi.

"Hello, Teacher Ye Jian!" Ning Xi greeted sweetly, bowing with elegant grace.

Her posture was perfect, her tone respectful, and her smile flawless... the very picture of a well-mannered teacher.

Then she turned to Lin Feng.

The transformation was imdiate.

Her eyes widened slightly, her brows curved downward, and her lips pursed just enough to convey deep injustice, grievance, and a sense of being cruelly abandoned by fate itself.

It was the look of soone who had been wronged. Severely wronged.

Ever since their lunch together last Saturday, Lin Feng had returned straight to his courtyard and avoided her like the plague.

Yesterday Sunday... she had gone searching for him personally.

She had walked the academy grounds. She had asked around discreetly.

She had even gone straight to his courtyard.

But she couldn’t find even the faintest trace of him.

Not his shadow.

Not his scent.

Not even the sound of his breathing.

When she knocked on his door and called out his na, there was no response.

The courtyard was silent... so silent it felt like a grave.

Ning Xi had stood there for a long ti, staring at the closed door, her heart slowly sinking with every passing mont.

What she didn’t know, however, was that Lin Feng had already been busy "playing the ga" with Li Ruoxi.

And when Lin Feng was playing a ga, he accepted no distractions.

Especially not from an ominous star like Ning Xi.

"It seems the two of you are quite close. Is there sothing between the two of you that the academy should know about?" Ye Jian remarked, a teasing smile playing at the corners of her lips.

There was amusent in her eyes, but also a trace of nostalgia.

She had once been young too, after all, and she understood all too well the irresistible impulses, confusion, and boldness that ca with youth.

"Teacher Ning Xi and I are rely acquaintances, Teacher Ye Jian," Lin Feng replied calmly. "I’m about to go to lunch now."

With that, he turned on his heel and walked away, his hands clasped behind his back, his posture relaxed yet dignified... the bearing of a true master that others could only envy.

This left both Ye Jian and Ning Xi standing there, watching his retreating figure in silence.

For a mont, only the faint sound of footsteps echoed in the distance.

"Well," Ye Jian said lightly, breaking the silence, "Lin Feng really knows how to play hard to get, doesn’t he, Teacher Ning Xi?"

Ning Xi smiled awkwardly. "I’m sorry to make you laugh, Teacher Ye Jian. It’s just... Lin Feng feels like a man with countless layers. No matter how much I learn about him, it always feels like I’ve only scratched the surface of the many mysteries surrounding him."

She paused, her gaze fixed firmly on Lin Feng’s back.

"Please excuse , Teacher Ye Jian," Ning Xi added politely. "I have a man to catch."

Without hesitation, she followed after him, her steps quick and determined, moving like a shadow that refused to be left behind.
