Updates haven't been so stable recently. I was writing my exam, so I'm finally done. Here's one more bonus.
So more stones : )?
...
After the Oath players all flocked to the Imperial Holy Capital, the City of Glory and Netherworld Village finally quieted down.
Although the raging Plague Torrent was a massive threat to this world, Carl saw it as an opportunity.
At its core, this thing was extrely powerful neutral monster material. If left alone, it would devour every living being nearby.
However, thanks to Anan's ability to shape the Plague Torrent, the players of Netherworld Village were finally able to hunt freely alongside their Pokémon.
Netherworld Village and the City of Glory were developing in an orderly fashion.
Carl originally could not be bothered with the Oath side anymore, but ever since Vengeful Blood blew the whistle, the Do Alliance, the largest player guild, had truly split apart.
The conflict between Oath players and Villager Players beca increasingly sharp.
Perhaps because they could not give up Oath's powerful combat strength, or the status and vanity tied to the Empire and the Holy Nation's major factions, most mbers of the Do Alliance chose the main Oath ga.
In the end, only a very small number of players chose to return to the village with Vengeful Blood and develop there.
The Oath officials were also fanning the flas behind the scenes, secretly intensifying their attacks on Netherworld Village players through public opinion.
Although the war inside the ga had seemingly died down, the verbal sparring between the two player bases was growing more intense in the shadows.
This bickering did not actually affect Carl. Honestly, it should not have affected Oath itself either.
But what made it hard for Carl to keep a straight face was that after the Oath officials turned the fight against the Plague Torrent into a major version event, their operations team launched a shocking gacha preheat event.
It was likely inspired by Migard's Version 1.5 stunt, where she pretended to be a player during a livestream and beca a huge hit.
On the eve of Version 2.0's launch, the Oath officials actually had the next version's featured character, the Empire's Second Princess, Lamia, appear in a livestream as an Oath player, playing the ga herself.
This was truly a gacha-selling thod that only an epoch-making ga, where gacha pool characters possessed self-awareness, could pull off.
"I'm livestreaming to sell myself."
"Tsk, this woman will fall off sooner or later anyway. What's so good about her livestream?"
The Saintess clicked her tongue beside Carl.
Carl was currently editing the Saintess's Character Core. Surprisingly, the weapon she finally chose for her SP form was a charge blade.
Perhaps in the Saintess's eyes, there was no real difference between a charge blade and waving her wand to unleash world-destroying spells.
While editing, Carl had the official Oath livestream of the Princess playing in the background.
To the Saintess, who had been completely abandoned by the Oath officials, this Princess Lamia was likely just the next victim.
"I'm waiting to see the boorang effect. This Lady Lamia is clearly being pushed forward by the Oath officials to lead the charge."
"She'll lead the main Oath players to clear the Plague Torrent, then capture our event areas step by step."
As Carl spoke, he showed the Saintess a map of the current situation.
Between the City of Glory and the Imperial Holy Capital lay a vast neutral danger zone covered by the Plague Torrent.
As long as the players from either side suppressed the contamination within, Anan and Madam Calamity could gain better control over the Plague Torrent in that area and use it for themselves.
"Boorang? What boorang?"
Seeing Carl's calculating expression, the Saintess instantly felt a sense of unease.
"Naturally, it's the look on those loyal Oath players' faces when they discover that the goddess they adore, the featured character they spent a fortune to pull, is secretly playing the ga they hate most in private."
If soone like Mio or Anan had heard Carl say this, they probably would have burst out laughing.
But the Saintess kept her small face taut, with no intention of laughing, because she was one of the victims.
To be honest, as the Saintess looked at Second Princess Lamia's high-traffic livestream and the flood of praise and interactive comnts from Oath players...
She was actually quite envious. After all, she had once experienced the sa treatnt as a featured character.
"In that case, I'm also looking forward to the day this woman's reputation collapses," the Saintess said gloomily.
"Anyway, once I finish editing your Character Core, I should design a stage to welco this Princess's invasion. I an, arrival," Carl said.
Second Princess Lamia.
This character's personality was basically that of an extrely boisterous Princess.
This personality was indeed very suited to livestreaming.
Although her gacha pool had not opened yet, the Oath officials had already released the Version 2.0 Open World map in advance.
The arrival of the Plague Torrent also led the Oath officials to cleverly move most of the rewards that should have been given for exploring the Imperial Holy Capital to the Open World map instead.
"Thank you all for the donations! Everyone, please witness the mighty power of my attendants!"
As Lamia said this, she summoned a large number of puppets clad in knightly armor, cutting through all the Plague Torrent monsters before her...
Until they were all slain.
She was a summoner-type character, capable of controlling a vast number of Puppet Knights to fight for her.
Seeing the flashy special effects and the absurd damage numbers, this Princess truly lived up to her status as the featured character of Version 2.0.
And there was one more thing that felt off to Carl.
The Oath player account that Princess Lamia was using for the livestream was not a new one, but a super-old account with an ID starting with 1000X.
It could even be called a veteran-tier ID from the ga's launch.
Carl initially thought the Princess was using an internal staff account, but when the chat asked where her account ca from, she revealed a shocking secret to the viewers.
"I'm actually a veteran player from Oath's launch. Since Oath is a living world, there might be many more future gacha pool characters hiding among you right now," Lamia said.
When the audience heard this revelation, their enthusiasm exploded instantly, and a flood of Super Chats filled the livestream.
Comnts flooded in one after another.
"Her Highness is actually a day-one player?"
"Wait, does that an the whales on my friend list might suddenly beco gacha characters in future versions too?"
"This is just her way of closing the distance with the Saviors," the Saintess said in an extrely resentful tone.
"But this thod really is very effective."
Carl had to admit that Lamia revealing her veteran status caused her popularity to skyrocket instantly.
After that, her fan service and promotional skills completely blew the Saintess out of the water.
While playing Oath 2.0 on stream, Lamia naturally praised various aspects of Oath 2.0 from a veteran's perspective.
Such as the various optimizations and improvents in this version.
For example, Contract Stone rewards from treasure chests had quadrupled! And the rewards from high-difficulty challenge mobs were no longer useless materials, but piles of Contract Stones.
anwhile, many areas with special gaplay appeared on the map, such as Endless Plague zones where monsters spawned incessantly, and Lord's Domains featuring powerful boss challenges.
With the strength of a featured character at max Contract Soul, the Princess easily controlled her army of Puppet Knights and slaughtered all the enemies in those high-difficulty challenges.
Both goals, selling gacha pulls and promoting Oath Version 2.0, had been fully achieved.
Then, Carl did not know who gave Lamia the courage, but while exploring, she actually began approaching the Plague Torrent area controlled by Anan.
"Ahead is the gathering place of the true culprits behind this Plague Torrent. Today, I'm going to expose the truth for everyone! I'll give this place a proper review!"
Lamia spoke with absolute certainty.
It was clear that she already viewed Netherworld Village as a den of thugs.
"Should I drive her away?"
Anan appeared before Carl and asked.
"Drive her away? Shouldn't we just take her out?"
The Saintess was no longer hiding her true nature.
"Anan, can you strip her of her Extraordinary Power? Not for long, just temporarily."
After giving Anan twenty precious Sacred Contract Stones, Carl lightly pressed his fingertip against her forehead, gradually releasing the Emotional Antidote accumulated by the Villager Players into her.
Since Anan was constantly suffering from the effects of the Plague Torrent, Carl needed to consu a large amount of Emotional Antidote to help alleviate her symptoms.
Fortunately, after the Villager Players' hunting spree, there was more than enough Emotional Antidote.
"The power granted to by the Plague Torrent can temporarily suppress her Character Core. And then? Make her a hunter and start hunting?" Anan asked.
"The hunter's way of fighting is still a bit too complex for her. It doesn't suit her personality of wanting easy wins. At this stage, I might not be able to get her hooked quickly, so I plan to let her have a shallow demo experience of another ga first, letting her quickly taste a different, more lethal kind of joy," Carl said.
(To be continued.)
