Migard, commander of the Hunter Knights, was sowhat different from most summon roster characters.
Migard was a pure pragmatist. A rcenary through and through.
That ant she had absolutely no interest in participating in popularity contests between summonable characters.
On top of that, she knew very well that her role was rely to pave the way for the Empire's true headliner, the Princess, to make her debut.
Migard's purpose in infiltrating Netherworld Village this ti was to cooperate with Oath's official sar campaign and stir up hatred among Netherworld Village's players.
So when Carl placed a large pile of premium Contract Stones in front of her, intending to offer her a brand-new commission, Migard's first reaction was not that her cover had been blown.
Instead, she said,
"Let's make one thing clear first. The Empire's mission takes priority. My life depends on it," Migard said.
"The mission the Empire gave you is to incite conflict between Oath players and Netherworld Village players, isn't it? Am I wrong?"
Carl directly exposed the reason Migard was here. She had co specifically to start a war.
Mainly, the world of Oath was simply too vast. The number of player Open Worlds alone reached into the tens of millions.
After Version 1.5 launched, Oath players could have had plenty of fun exploring their own Open Worlds.
But what the Empire and Oath's official team wanted to see was Oath players invading the Open Worlds of Netherworld Village players, attacking them, and destroying everything inside.
All the narratives being pushed right now were ant to achieve that goal.
Since war had already arrived, Carl figured he might as well keep the battlefield within a specific area. For example, inside Migard's Open World.
"So, what do you want to do with this much money? Cancel the plan? Sorry, but this isn't enough to buy my life," Migard said.
"No. I want to help you complete the mission more effectively."
Carl took out a docunt and handed it to Migard. She glanced over the contents.
It was nothing less than a rallying cry against Netherworld Village.
The title of the docunt was, "Playing Netherworld Village Is the Ultimate Betrayal of Oath! It Is No Different from Abandoning Your Own Family!"
"…"
Migard almost had to squint to finish reading the manifesto. Her expression looked like the "visible confusion" brought to life.
This manifesto was not written by Carl. It had been written by a loyal Oath player currently active on a video platform, a heartfelt call to arms.
The general content was about how Oath was such a generous and conscientious ga, one that had brought everyone so much joy.
But now, after building up popularity and resources through Oath, so players had chosen to defect to Netherworld Village.
This was an utterly shaful act. It was no different from abandoning the family who had raised you with their own hands.
"It seems there are still many Saviors who strongly support the Academy Head."
After reading the manifesto, Migard could not calm down for a long ti. Her toes were probably curling inside her boots.
"The commission I want to give you is simple. Read it out loud."
Carl gave the order in an extrely flat tone, one that nearly suffocated the battle-hardened rcenary.
"Huh?"
For a mont, Migard did not understand what Carl ant.
"Aren't you the commander of the Hunter Knights? Before a battle, there is always a declaration of war, right? Now I want you to read this manifesto with all the passion of a battlefield speech."
As Carl spoke, he placed another bag of premium Contract Stones in front of Migard.
Are you insane? What is the point of reading such a childish post out loud?
"Allow to consult Madam Calamity."
Migard shifted her consciousness back to the Main World to ask Madam Calamity for her opinion.
At present, both Oath's official team and the Empire wanted to incite Oath players into going to war with Netherworld Village, and most of the preparations were already complete.
Perhaps Madam Calamity believed that a single manifesto would not cause much trouble. Or perhaps she thought it might add even more fuel to the fire.
Either way, she agreed.
"Fine. I accept this commission. I didn't expect you to be such a warmonger too."
Migard had no choice but to accept Carl's strange request.
In any case, she was currently disguised as a player. She was not appearing in her true form as a summon roster character.
Migard could ss around in this player form however she pleased without issue.
However, Carl was not a warmonger.
It was just that Migard and Madam Calamity had never witnessed how ridiculous the internet could beco.
Because of that, Migard did not realize just how devastatingly powerful this little stunt of hers would be.
Carl could not help but admire her. Migard was indeed an excellent Knight Commander. She still possessed the most basic leadership skill of all, delivering a war speech.
Furthermore, thanks to her rcenary background, she had developed the admirable habit of doing a job properly once she had been paid.
Thus, the manifesto that had originally made Migard frown was transford by her oratory skills into a speech full of passion, rhythm, and battlefield fervor.
As long as one did not listen too closely to the actual content, her tone alone would be enough to make anyone's blood boil. On a real battlefield, it would make people want to raise their lances and charge.
"This should be enough, right?"
Migard accepted the premium Contract Stones Carl gave her, roughly twenty thousand in total.
"This money is surprisingly easy to earn."
"Hmm. Give it a little ti."
After Carl perford so simple editing on Migard's speech video and uploaded it online, Crimson Night, Mio, and a group of players who loved stirring up chaos quickly began sharing it.
Migard's speech video went viral at an almost unimaginable speed.
About two days later, only a few dozen minutes before the launch of Oath Version 1.5, Carl found Migard again.
"Congratulations. You're famous."
Carl showed Migard his web interface.
"Famous… what does that an? Wait, is this the terminal interface where the Saviors supposedly communicate with each other?"
Migard looked at the video of her own speech. As she watched the massive number of "Loyalty to Oath!" comnts flying across the screen, she instantly realized that sothing was wrong.
"Didn't you want to start a war? From now on, the place you are standing in will beco a real battlefield. If you want to earn more Contract Stones, I can use my livestream function to broadcast the entire process for you."
As Carl spoke, Migard had already realized that sothing was off.
But with Oath Version 1.5 already live, Migard tentatively accepted Carl's suggestion in order to complete the mission target Madam Calamity had set for her, which was to "let the flas of war burn through the entire City of Glory."
Using the livestream function Carl provided, she started a player livestream of Oath Version 1.5 inside the City of Glory.
Then, just as expected, Migard's livestream room exploded in popularity.
All kinds of factions gathered in her chat and imdiately started tearing into each other.
Migard had no intention of hiding her character ID. Even the entry permissions for her Open World were set to fully open.
A massive number of Oath players entered Migard's Open World to take part in the spectacle.
