Claire Sinclair glanced at her but didn’t respond.
’How bizarre. This woman was just beating half to death a mont ago, and now she’s doing all this for ? Did hell freeze over?’
Yara Quincy seed to avert her eyes guiltily. "It was my fault for hitting you, but you bit , and you even drew blood. We’re even!"
Claire Sinclair scoffed but still didn’t respond.
’And here I thought this woman was sucking up to because she realized she was wrong. Turns out, she doesn’t think she did anything wrong at all. She even seems to feel completely justified.’
’Yeah, right. I can’t even be bothered to acknowledge her.’
Seeing this attitude, Yara Quincy nearly lost her temper. But then she rembered the trouble she’d caused and forced herself to swallow her anger. She continued to back down. "My brother won’t be back anyti soon, so don’t even think about calling him. There’s no reception where he is. Even I can’t get in touch with him."
At the ntion of this, Claire Sinclair finally spoke up. "Where is he?"
"The Southern Frontier. It’s a mountainous region, no reception. Don’t bother calling him, it’s useless."
The Southern Frontier...
’That’s so far away...’
Claire Sinclair felt a pang of disappointnt.
Yara Quincy averted her gaze guiltily and finally said, "I have to go back and take care of my grandfather. You’re on your own now. Also, I’ve already paid your dical fees. You don’t need to go through any discharge procedures; you were only here for temporary treatnt. You can leave whenever you feel up to it. The doctor said there are no major issues, but you need to go ho and recover from the blood loss."
Deciding there was nothing more to add, Yara Quincy turned and walked out.
As she reached the doorway, she saw a nurse approaching and imdiately pulled her aside. "Nurse, didn’t the doctor say that woman was fine? What are you doing here?"
The nurse gave the girl a strange look and handed her a prescription. "Take this to the cashier, then pick up the dicine from the pharmacy. These will help the patient’s recovery—"
Before she could finish, Yara Quincy cut her off. "Does she have to take the dicine?"
"Taking the dicine will help her recover faster."
"What happens if she doesn’t?"
The nurse frowned. "The patient is already in a weakened state. How can she get better without dication? Besides, do you want her to be unable to conceive in the future?"
"I—that’s not what I ant! Just give it to !"
Yara Quincy snatched the prescription and dismissed the nurse.
Staring at the unintelligible drug nas on the prescription, Yara Quincy was torn by a fierce internal struggle.
’That woman is so stupid, she’ll never figure out what’s really wrong with her. As long as I don’t say anything...’
’That’s right, I can’t tell him. If my brother finds out about this, he’ll kill !’
’When my brother gets angry, it’s no laughing matter.’
’So, I can’t give this dicine to that woman. Besides, my brother is bound to divorce her eventually. Whether she can get pregnant or not has nothing to do with !’
At this thought, Yara Quincy tore the prescription to pieces, threw it in the trash, and walked away as if nothing had happened.
...
Ever since leaving the hospital that day, Claire Sinclair’s health completely collapsed. The bleeding wouldn’t stop.
She eventually had to go to a pharmacy and buy so dicine herself. After taking it, the bleeding finally stopped, but she remained extrely weak.
Her health had broken down before, back when her father beat her most severely—it had even been worse than this. She assud it was just because she was naturally frail and didn’t give it a second thought. She figured it was just a lingering aftereffect of the beating and that she’d be fine after a few days of rest.
Because she felt so unwell, Claire Sinclair couldn’t work. She took ti off and stayed in her hotel room for several days, but she remained incredibly weak. She couldn’t summon any strength, and her physical and ntal state only worsened.
