In just a few short days, Claire Sinclair’s weight had plumted. She’d gotten so thin that her chin looked much sharper. Anyone who didn’t know better might have thought she’d had plastic surgery, so drastic was the change in her appearance.
Then one day, Yara Quincy suddenly appeared at her bedroom door. She was carrying a large pile of restorative health supplents and said with a reluctant look, "I bought these for you. When my brother gets back, don’t tell him we fought."
Claire Sinclair glanced at the items Yara had brought, frowning. "What is this?"
"Can’t you tell? I’m here to apologize."
"Apologize?"
Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. Even though the woman had brought a peace offering, she couldn’t sense any sincerity from her.
With this in mind, Claire Sinclair said coolly, "Take them back. I don’t accept your apology."
"You—" Yara Quincy was furious, on the verge of losing her temper. But then she rembered the disaster she’d caused and didn’t dare act out. She was forced to lower her voice. "I was just angry that day, that’s why I hit you. Besides, you bit too! And look, the bite mark still hasn’t healed. It’s gotten infected!"
As she spoke, Yara Quincy pulled up her sleeve, revealing a bite mark that was oozing pus.
Though the sight was a bit grueso, only a single thought ca to Claire Sinclair’s mind: ’Serves her right.’
’This woman still hasn’t learned to respect anyone. I regret not biting a chunk of flesh out of her back then.’
"I bit you once, and you beat half to death. You think these few things are enough to buy off?"
"You... what do you want?"
"I don’t want anything from you."
Yara’s heart leaped with joy. She said urgently, "You’d be that nice?"
Claire Sinclair gave a cold smile and finished her sentence. "But I’m still going to tell your brother. The mont he gets back, I’m going to tell him how his own dear sister beat her sister-in-law within an inch of her life."
Yara panicked at her words. "You can’t tell him about this!" she said frantically. "You can’t! I’ll give you anything you want, just don’t tell him!"
Seeing the pampered young lady in such a panic, Claire Sinclair found it rather strange.
’It had been so many days since the incident. Even if Yara hadn’t co to apologize, it’s not like I could have done anything to her, could I?’
’But now, this young lady was here with health supplents, offering an apology. It just didn’t fit her persona. She wouldn’t be here unless she wanted sothing.’
’Was there sothing more to this?’
With that thought, Claire Sinclair decided to test her. "Anything I want? Can you really give it to ?"
Yara Quincy bit her lip and nodded firmly. "As long as it’s within my power, I’ll give it to you."
"Alright. I want you to get your brother on the phone for right now."
"Y-you’re not going to call him just to tell on , are you???"
Claire Sinclair scoffed. "See? You’re not sincere at all. When he gets back, telling on you will be the absolute first thing I do."
"Alright, fine! As long as you don’t say anything, I can get my brother on the phone for you right now."
"Really?"
Yara Quincy pressed her lips together, took out her phone, and dialed a landline number.
After a long wait, the call finally connected. "Hello, this is Yara Quincy. I’d like to speak with my brother. Is he available?"
"Young Master Quincy is busy. What do you need him for?"
"It’s not who needs him, it’s... my sister-in-law."
The words had barely left her mouth when soone seed to snatch the phone on the other end. A familiar voice quickly ca through the line. "Claire?"
Too guilty to speak, Yara Quincy simply handed the phone to Claire Sinclair. "My brother."
She hadn’t expected the girl to so easily reach the man she’d been longing for day and night. For a mont, Claire Sinclair was at a loss for words and reflexively called out, "Mr. Quincy."
