lanie cradled her stomach as if protecting the man himself. "Mom, Brother Linden isn’t a good-for-nothing. We’ve been dating for two years now. I’m the one Brother Linden loves, not Claire."

Mrs. Lowell took a deep breath and softened her tone. "Well, that Logan Linden isn’t a bad sort, and he can make good money. How many months along are you? Why didn’t you tell your mother sooner, so I could have helped you sort this out?"
