Claire Sinclair felt like she was being targeted by so mysterious hacker group. She was a little uneasy at first, but over ti, she realized they didn’t seem to want anything from her, so she stopped worrying about it.

It had been about two years since she received that invitation...

She had received the mysterious invitation not long after her sister passed away. She had never told anyone about it, not even Logan Linden.

In fact, very few people in her real life knew about Claire Sinclair’s identity as a hacker.

The only ones who knew her identity were all the hackers she had bested online. There were probably enough of them to fill a truck.

’Who cares, anyway?’ she thought. ’While I might not have the grand ambition to serve my country with utmost loyalty, I do have a patriotic heart.’

She would never involve herself in anything criminal.

After tinkering with her computer for a while, the water boiled. Claire Sinclair grabbed her instant noodles to add the hot water.

When she returned, she set the noodles aside and sat cross-legged in front of her computer. Annoyed by her hair falling into her eyes, she simply twisted it up into a bun, using a pen as a makeshift hairpin to hold it in place.

She went back to typing on her computer.

...

A small black car pulled into the courtyard. A noble and elegant man got out and strode to the front door.

He took out his key and opened the door.

In the living room, a young woman was on a video call, sitting on the sofa. Next to her computer sat an empty cup of instant noodles.

"Don’t even ntion it. I broke up with that scumbag a long ti ago. I’m living on my own now. When are you coming back to the country? I can put you up for a few days."

On the other side of the video call was a girl with crimped hair nad Faye Dean, one of Claire Sinclair’s high school classmates.

Their personalities had clicked instantly, and they beca good friends. Unfortunately, after high school graduation, Faye Dean went to study abroad, and they hadn’t seen each other in over four years.

Faye Dean bead through the screen. "That’s great! I was just worrying about having nowhere to go when I get back. Claire, where are you living now? This living room looks really nice."

"It’s a friend’s house. I’m just staying here for one night. I rented a small studio in the West District today. The rent is only 750 a month. I’m moving in tomorrow."

"You’re always moving around. Don’t you get tired?"

"The struggle itself is a kind of happiness. I’m struggling, so I’m happy."

"You’re sothing else..."

Claire was so caught up in the conversation that she didn’t notice soone had entered the room behind her.

Not until the person appeared in the video fra, materializing out of nowhere, did she jump in fright and instinctively close the video call.

She whipped her head around and stared in shock at his handso, darkened face.

’Didn’t he say he wasn’t coming back? What is he doing here?!’

"Mr. Quincy, what are you doing here?"

As she spoke, Claire Sinclair stood up out of politeness.

Adrian Quincy’s cold eyes swept over her face before his gaze landed on the bowl of instant noodles, which had nothing left but dregs of broth. His brows furrowed suddenly. "You don’t know how to cook?"

"I can. I just don’t feel like it when I’m eating alone. I can never quite get the portion right, and it ends up going to waste." To put it bluntly, she was just lazy.

Adrian Quincy’s eyes darkened. "You are not to eat this kind of junk food anymore. Otherwise, you can’t live here."

Hearing this, Claire Sinclair looked up excitedly. "Haha... perfect! I was just about to tell you, I’m moving out tomorrow to live on my own. That way, I won’t have to live in such a big house by myself. It’s a pain to clean anyway."

’Foolish woman,’ he thought. ’Does she think I’m joking?’

Adrian Quincy’s face was grim. "I’m not joking."

"I’m not joking either! I already went out and found a place today. It’s only 750 a month. Super cheap, right?"
