"What kind of retard do you take for, Sir Cade? How can you have a summon that is this strong? With her strength, it ans you’d have no other soul space to accommodate another summon. But you sohow made a summon. Even if you’re a Sovereign, this is simply not possible—to have a summon as powerful as she appears to be."

My expression hardened when I heard her.

White Feather glared downward, her teeth clenched almost gruesoly.

The girls glanced at and quickly hid their faces. Suddenly I got the urge to look into a mirror—were they seeing a different face, or was their taste simply exceptionally questionable?
White Feather turned to her attendant with an authoritative air.
"Shuǐyáo, what’s the situation?"
"Matriarch, things are really bad. The Water Moon Clan has landed on our shore and is currently marching this way. The remnants of the Lotus Sword have gathered to stop them, but I don’t assu they will last longer than five minutes. Even the Matriarch of the Water Moon Clan is among them. She’s very ruthless."

White Feather nodded. At the sa ti, Shuǐyáo tried to hide the lethal light in her eyes, though not before I caught a glimpse.
"Sir Cade, you’re my master. You own ."
The girls’ eyes widened as they heard their Matriarch. Even Shuǐyáo couldn’t quite co to terms with what she had just said.
"Whatever your will is, I am ready to follow it—as long as you keep your promise."

’Now would you look at that... this one at least knows how to make feel good.’
I heaved a sigh and summoned Frostfang.
"Tell , White Feather, what do you want?"
She lowered her head respectfully.
"I want to retrieve my daughter and protect my clan."
For a mont, I was silent. Then I slamd the edge of Frostfang’s blade into the water.
"Alright then. Gather the rest of your forces—any number will do. Make them all gather here. Together we will exterminate the Water Moon Clan and get your daughter back."
Shuǐyáo glared at as though I had gone mad.
"This is no weightless matter! You could kill the Matriarch!"

"No one is dying."
Surprisingly, Shuǐyáo didn’t speak again. Instead, she stepped back in silence, gritted her teeth, and wandered away.
A few minutes later, she returned with the number of people she could gather—both those who could fight and those who could not. They all gathered around us. More of them were won than n, though there were a few handso n among them, currently looking haggard.
They all gathered as we stood in the steadily rising flood. Beyond us, the water moved and trembled violently.
The enemy was approaching.
