Xue Yong’s feet left the ground, and his face instantly flushed from pale to red. His breathing became rapid and difficult, and he gripped Lao Xie’s wrist with all his might, but he couldn’t move it an inch.

"You’re the captain of the squad. Your team lost several members. It’s your responsibility."

Lao Xie’s tone was calm, yet carried a chilling coldness. As soon as he finished speaking, he flung his big hand, and Xue Yong’s body flew out like a kite with a broken string.

Immediately after, the fleshy wings on his back wrapped Xue Yong’s body tightly, like rolling up a piece of meat, and then slammed him hard onto the rocky ground.

Crack——!

A crisp sound of bones breaking vaguely sounded. Xue Yong hit the ground heavily, his qi and blood surged, his face alternating between green and white, his throat tasted sweet, and he couldn’t help but spit out a mouthful of blood.

But before the blood hit the ground, a strange breeze suddenly blew, swirling the blood droplets like raindrops before ultimately landing on Lao Xie’s fleshy wings.

The blood seeped into the wings, and Lao Xie fortably squinted his eyes, letting out a satisfied sigh: "Mmm, truly ’delicious’."

Even though Xue Yong’s Cyan Dragon bloodline had not yet awakened, the power contained in his bloodline could not be underestimated.

Just a mouthful of congealed blood gave him the sensation of enjoying a grand feast.

He couldn’t help but imagine if absorbing all of Xue Yong’s blood would dramatically boost his power.

No, that won’t do.

Lao Xie promptly banished the thought, his eyes regaining a bit of clarity.

Such a high-level Cyan Dragon bloodline, getting a taste of an "appetizer" was already lucky. The main portion would ultimately be distributed by Lord Ron, and being greedy wouldn’t cause anything but calamity for himself.

Cough, cough... cough, cough...

Xue Yong lay on the ground, coughing hard, with blood all over his nose and mouth, as if all his bones were shattered, the pain was unbearable.

Yet, in his squinted eyes, there was not a hint of fear nor grievance, only a deep-seated indifference and forbearance.

He had long grown accustomed to such humiliation and torment.

Previously, he had endured even greater pains, but he forced himself through them.

That year, he had witnessed with his own eyes his most beloved mother being brutally murdered by the Blood Demon Cult. The hatred that penetrated his very bones became the sole belief keeping him alive.

He cannot die.

He still needed to reunite with his father, Xue Wuyang.

He must avenge his mother, and he must kill all the cruel scum of the Blood Demon Cult!

"Today’s bat, I am very dissatisfied." Lao Xie withdrew his gaze and swept it over the children present, his tone icy, "Tomorrow the training will be doubled. Those who can’t plete it, go and receive your punishment."

Upon hearing this, the children’s hearts instantly tightened, a surge of intense fear rose within them, making them tremble even more. Their usual training was already extremely cruel; every day they had to give it their all just to barely plete it, practically struggling on the edge of life and death.

Once the training workload doubled, those who could persist would surely be very few.

What terrified them even more was the "punishment" that Lao Xie mentioned—they would be thrown into a cave full of centipedes, snakes, and other highly poisonous creatures, enduring their bites and stings.

Although they wouldn’t die thanks to medical treatment, the heart-wrenching pain, unbearably itchy numbness, and the agony of weakness from the poison would make them wish they were dead. That suffering was far more terrifying than fighting with packs of wolves.

"Go back." Lao Xie looked at the fear in the children’s eyes, a cruel smile appearing on his face, and waved his hand indifferently.

The children lowered their heads and struggled to get up from the ground, dragging their tired and injured bodies towards a hidden cave not far behind them, each step feeling extremely heavy.

However, just then, the roar of an airship breaking through the sky suddenly came from afar, shattering the silence of the valley.

Lao Xie’s footsteps abruptly paused, his brows furrowed, and he instinctively looked up towards the direction of the sound. He saw in the distant sky, three medium-sized airships rushing over rapidly, closing in on the mountain range in no time.

Initially, Lao Xie didn’t pay too much attention—it’s not rare for flying devices or airships to pass by this mountain range occasionally.

But soon, when those three airships began to slow down, hovering over the mountain range and aiming at their position, Lao Xie and his crew cut-haired man’s expressions suddenly grew solemn, and both subconsciously gripped their weapons tightly.

Swish——!

The tops of the three airships simultaneously opened, and one figure after another leaped out from the airships. They seemed to be stepping on invisible ribbons, gliding on the breeze, landing stably and gracefully on the mountaintop not far away.

"Oh, what a coincidence~"

A slightly hoarse but alluring woman’s voice sounded, with a hint of surprise, slowly reaching the ears of Lao Xie and the crew cut-haired man.

In the next instant, an eerie scene unfolded—Xue Yong, who stood next to Lao Xie and the crew cut-haired man, along with all the surviving children, suddenly floated into the air uncontrollably, their speed astonishingly fast, leaving both Lao Xie and the crew cut-haired man no time to react.

In just two blinks of an eye, the children were already on the mountaintop, standing steadily beside a red-haired woman.

The red-haired woman lowered her gaze, and her eyes fell on the little boy with bloodstained lips yet steadfast eyes amongst the crowd, her tone softened somewhat: "Are you Xue Yong?"

"I am Xue Yong." Xue Yong nodded slightly, his small head a bit dazed.

No matter how mature he was, in the end, he was just a ten-year-old boy. The sudden change and these unfamiliar people rendered him momentarily unable to react, so he could only respond instinctively.

Kathryn reached out her hand, gently patting Xue Yong’s head: "Don’t be afraid. Your father, Xue Wuyang, has sent me to rescue you."

Dad!

It’s Dad!

Upon hearing the name "Xue Wuyang," Xue Yong’s body shook violently, and the tension in his body instantly dissipated, causing his eyes, which had been forcing themselves to remain firm, to turn red.

The long-held pain, grievance, fear, and yearning erupted entirely at that moment, and tears fell from the corners of his eyes like broken pearls, dropping onto his lapel, spreading into small wet patches.

Seeing him like this, Kathryn couldn’t help but soften her heart, a trace of heartache flickering in her eyes. She could imagine what kind of inhuman pain and torment such a small child had endured in a cruel place like the Blood Demon Cult to hold on until now.

"Kid, don’t worry." Kathryn withdrew her gaze and lightly tapped the ebony magic staff in her hand on the ground. Her tone instantly became icy and sharp, and her aura soared.

The next moment, the once clear sky was instantly shrouded by dark clouds. In the inky cloud layers, streaks of silver-white thunder appeared intermittently, making "crackle" sounds, and the terrifying pressure descended like Mount Tai, as if a natural disaster was imminent, causing the entire mountain range to tremble slightly.

Lightning flickered in Kathryn’s eyes, her gaze like a sharp blade directed at Lao Xie and the crew cut-haired man below, her voice cold and bone-chilling as she said word by word, "Today, none of the Blood Demon Cult’s scum will get away!"
